Chapter 8
Liamâs eyes connected to her ass the minute she turned which made him groan and he closed his eyes. For a moment, he forgot his dumbass of a friend was still there. Alex laughed and Liam looked startled.
âYouâre still here?! Liam twisted his mouth in irritation.
Yeah Alex was still laughing And I didnât miss how your eyes stayed glued to her ass like you wanna rip off her panties and fuâ¦â Liam didnât give him the chance to finish his sentence as he threw a book at him, which Alex skillfully dodged.
Oh stop this drama, you know you love me â Alex laughed and ducked Liamâs punches when he came at him. Liam rolled his eyes âWe both know I donât. Now get lostâ
*Ouch, you wound meâ Alex placed his hands over his heart. Liam shoved him out of his office and slammed the door.
The minute he walked over to his desk, he remembered the family dinner in the evening. He walked back to the door hastily, after realizing he would need Alexâs opinion. He opened the door and scanned his eyes through the corridor, looking for Alex. Alex had almost turned the corner to use the elevator when Liam sighted him.
* Alex!
Alex turned and gave him a playful glare,â Finally realized that you love me?â He asked with a smirk, walking over to Liam.
âHuh?â He teased, hitting Liam playfully on the arm..
Oh come on, donât start Liam sighed and went back inside the office with Alex on his tail, following him like a puppy.
âI need your help * Liam started.
* About time you realized you canât do without me Alex said smugly, stroking nonâexistent beards.
Oh shut up â Liam sighed and continued, âThe thing is, Mom called a few hours ago and talked about this marriage I knew nothing about. Can you believe father has arranged a marriage between me and a girl Iâve never heard about before? â His eyes started to blaze, turning a deeper shade of blue.
âHeâs fucking planning an arranged marriage! This old man is dictating my life for me!â His breathing came in rapid rhythm, out of rage.
âHey man, calm down â Alex said, in all seriousness. His eyebrows creased in concern for his friend.
âNo I fucking wonât! I swear I will kill this man when I finally get my hands on him!â.
âCalm down. Youâll get out of this unscathed, I promiseâ Alex repeated, placing a hand on Liamâs shoulder.
Now, will you calm down and explain whatâs up with this marriage thing? I thought we talked about it the last time I came here. He settled down comfortably and patted the seat next to him, gesturing for Liam to come sit but Liam ignored and took the chair opposite.
Mom called to inform me of a family dinner taking place in their mansion tonight. Then she talked about this girl Dad wants me to meet. Apparently, heâs planning a marriage for me. That conniving, selfish old man!â He clenched his fists, wishing it was his fatherâs neck he was holding in that tight grip.
So what did you tell Diana?â Alex called Liamâs Mom by her first name because they were so close that outsiders mistake them for family.
*If course I refused to dance to fatherâs tunes Liam glared at the floor and unclenched his fists.
*So?â Alex prompted, wanting Liam to say the real thing.
So I hung upâ Liam directed his glare at him this time around.
âThatâs it?â Alex scoffed and looked unimpressed. Liam ignored him and continued.
âSo she called back saying she had a talk with Dad and the only way to get out of this arranged thing is to bring my fiancee to the dinner tonight. He finished with a deep frown.
Alex bursted into laughterâ Whoa whoa!
Liam stared at him and said nothing. He waited for his idiot of a friend to come out of his laughing fits.
âDone?â He glared at Alex who didnât seem to mind.
Not yet and he laughed some more.
âOkay, now Iâm listening âHe finally said, trying to put on a serious face.
Liam just rolled his eyes and continued.
âSo thatâs where the real problem lies. How am I going to get a girlfriend? Where do I see one?â
Oh thereâs one right beneath you â Alex replied coyly, a small smile playing on his lips.
Watching Alex, Liam was starting to get scared. He knew that look very well. He could tell Alex was cooking up something and he sure as hell wouldnât like whatever would come out of his mouth next.
âWho?â He raised an eyebrowâ And donât even think about asking Amanda to be my fake girlfriendâ He scowled.
Alex laughed, âSeriously? Guy, you just disappointed me. I would never suggest Amanda to you. Thereâs someone betterâ He winked.
Liam looked lost for a moment until realization dawned on him. They both chorused,â Carla?!â.
As if on cue, the door opened and Carla came in. She looked at them suspiciously and walked over to her desk. She picked up some files and turned back to them.
âSir, itâs almost time to close for the day. I want to drop these for Amanda to explain some things to me before calling it a day â
âOkay. And make sure you see me before heading homeâ Liam looked at her, his gaze unwavering.
Carla frowned slightly but replied anyway. â Okay sirâ and the door closed behind her.
âMan, you really need to release in a hole. I seriously canât stand the sight of your dick saying Hi just by you looking at her â Alex laughed. Liam grabbed the pillow nearest to him and threw it at Alex.
Go to hellâ He muttered.
Alex laughed and ducked.â But seriously Liam, when did you have sex last?â
Fuck off if you donât have anything better to say â.
Alex ignored him and teased him the more,â No wonder youâre being so itchy these days. Man, you need to fuckâ He was still laughing.
But seriously, I think Carla will do â Alex said thoughtfully, traces of play gone.
One reason why Carla is perfect? â Liam asked.
âOh donât make me start â It was Alex who rolled his eyes this time. âOne, you feel something for the girl but I canât figure out what it is yet. But trust me, I will figure it out â He added, stroking his chin. He put his hands up to silence Liam when he wanted to interrupt him.
âAnd two, Carla is not after your money or looking for a way to seduce you, that I know. Iâll keep the rest for nowâ He finished with a bow.
âYouâre sick, you know that? Liam shook his head.
âYeah I knowâ Alex grinnedâ Sick out of being too good in everything I doâ
âYeah sureâ Liam was being sarcastic.
