Lavender eyes can only watch Yukashi leave, his back facing him and despite how he has the impulse to run after himâhe holds back. "Zero! They have parfait!" He hears Yuuki call after him in exhilaration forcing him to move the opposite direction of where he felt he should be going. Ignoring the pain in his chest, his eyes search for the brunette until he sees her happily speaking to Sayori; a small, slender, and petite girl with short light brown hair and big hazel eyes.
Technically the only true friend other than Zero himself that Yuuki is close to.
Zero doesn't socialize with the Day class students, too busy glaring at the vampires and yelling at students who think they can get away with breaking the rules. Yukashi constantly slips into his mind which only adds to his terrible mood scaring more than half the Day class students in the small event.
He has no idea why Kaien even agreed to this but Zero doesn't bother trying to question it nor confront the chairman. As soon as the event was over, Yuuki and Zero lead the Day class back to the Sun Dormitory after which they make their way to the dorm gates of the Moon Dorm already seeing a group of students waiting for them to come out.
Yuuki peers up at Zero hesitant, "Zero, you've been acting strange for a while now and I'm worried." Her soft voice seemingly draws Zero out of his thoughts, furrowing his eyebrowsâdisoriented, "What?" He asks.
Yuuki, noticing his lack of attention shakes her head with a smile, "Nothing, I was asking how did you like the chocolate parfait." Zero looks at her even more bemused wondering if this is what she was asking of him except he can't seem to remember if she said anything at all. "It was good but a little dry." He responds casually.
It makes no sense to him why Yuuki would ask about the parfait, but he doesn't question it when he realizes rather stupidly that he'll be seeing Yukashi for the second time today. Since the past week, Yukashi never once came to see him in the Sun Dormitory. For some reason, Zero has been expecting the captivating Pureblood to show up in the Sun Dorm again and flash him a smile except he forced the little hope to die as soon as Yukashi began ignoring him.
It doesn't surprise Zero, for all he knows Yukashi could be using him for his own benefit making up some bullshit lie about 'soulmates'. Abruptly remembering it, he glances to Yuuki again, "Do you know what a soulmate is?" His question surprises Yuuki for the first second and the next she gazes at him.
"Well, yeah. They're someone who is most suited for you, someone you can't imagine being without, someone you want to stay with and fight for, someone you can't bring yourself to walk away from. It's mostly where love comes from, you love the person so much, you know they're your soulmate. Someone you're meant to be with." Zero scrutinizes the soft look in her red-brown eyes.
He already knows she's thinking of Kaname and for some reason, the notion doesn't bother him as much as it did before. It doesn't make sense to him about the 'soulmate' thing, for all he knows Yukashi could have randomly chosen him to be that someone instead of the 'destiny chose you for me'. Zero has had enough about destiny kicking him around, he doesn't need another one.
But...it makes sense to him even less when he thinks about Yukashi again. The first and second night they had done it, Zero could feel how perfect their bodies fit together. How Yukashi filled up something inside of him he believed was dead, Zero can't imagine how much longer he'd go without touching Yukashi or seeing his face again. Earlier today, he wanted to chase after him, he wanted to do something and yet he didn't.
Love? He can't remember loving anyone who isn't Yuuki. He doesn't think he can love anyone other than Yuuki, she's too important to him to lose. Yuuki's eyes drift to Zero's face, his lavender eyes stormed by thoughts and his eyebrows pulled so tightly together it makes him look as if he's thinking too deep. She wants to know what's running through his head.
Unfortunately, they both have a duty to do. Zero once again yelling at the fangirls to get into line before the Night class came out. He glares at one who attempted to get past the girls and Zero only caught her in the act. He doesn't understand how can they keep this going every day and they repeat the same thing over and over, it drives him crazy. It's truly pathetic how they throw themselves to the same monsters who would suck them dry without a second thought.
He stiffens, Yukashi's scent infiltrating his lungs threatening to expose his hunger; it is always like this. Yelling at the group once more they all straighten, Yuuki and Zero standing in front of them as the front gates of the Dorm opens revealing the Night class. His eyes instantly search for Yukashi ignoring all the other vampires; he can smell him.
Then he sees him; platinum blonde hair in wavy strands covering the nape of his soft neck and the bandage. His fingers twitch to touch the fluffy mane or the soft pale neck felt by the palm of his hands and sometimes rubbing against his own skin. His luscious lips flashing the breathtaking smile he's seen so many times.
Every being of his body tells him to go to him. It tells him to go after Yukashi but Zero refuses. Distance. He needs to keep his distance yetâwhy is this distance slowly killing him inside? Why is this distance making him want to be even closer to him? He doesn't understand it and he doesn't know if he can understand it.
When soft blue eyes look back at him, he knows then that there's something. He can feel something pulling him toward Yukashi. It's there, he just doesn't know what it is exactly. Yukashi looks away from Zero, leaving him with another heartache in his chest; he turns to the Day class students telling them it's almost curfew.
Yuuki stares at Zero; there is definitely something going on between Yukashi and Zero.
It's becoming more and more painful for him to patrol the Sun Dormitory; there were a few who thought they can get pass Zero which unknown to them, Zero is a vampire. He can smell them. He sends them back to their dorms keeping in mind to tell Kaien in the morning.
Lavender eyes look up, discerning a sense of déjà vu. It was on a night as peaceful and pretty as this he had met Yukashi. Zero still has no idea why the Pureblood believed it was a good idea to come into the Sun Dormitory out of curiosity. Zero remembers Yukashi telling him how he would never hurt humans, he adores them.
Does he really? Zero has met so many vampires who want nothing more than to sink their fangs into the first human they see. Zero isn't any different seeing as he had been drinking Yuuki's blood before it was discovered she's a Pureblood as well. He admits, he never imagined the girl he loved to be the same monsters as the rest which only fed his vexation and resentment toward the vampires further.
Eventually, he forced himself to accept that's how things are. He can't bring himself to break away from Yuuki as she is still the same girl he remembers her to be despite her fear of vampires. He never sees her feed from anyone and if she was it's probably from Kanameâwhich doesn't surprise him either.
Yuuki doesn't stick around in his head like it usually does; instantly remembering the way Yukashi acted during the small event. Zero frowns to himself, tilting his head slightlyâYuuki has nothing to do with what's happening, he doesn't see how Yuuki fits in any of this. Except, Zero is in love with her and his love for another must be bothering Yukashi.
So then, is Yukashi jealous?
Zero shakes his head finding the idea rather idiotic but he doesn't deny that it could be the truth. Zero is truly the worse to do such a thing to Yukashi twice and be in love with Yuuki. Or is it really the case?
Feeling like he's getting nowhere with his thoughts he focuses on the rounds until Yuuki tells him she will be going to catch a little sleep. Zero knows she will end up falling asleep anyway in school. After several more hours and no sign of another human trying to leave the Sun Dorm, he retreats to his dorm room in order to prepare for his classes in a few hours.
Zero enters the room; he doesn't have anything else other than a bed, a dresser, and a bathroom. He doesn't see why he should have more personal belongings here when he'll eventually leave Cross Academy or the fact he doesn't have personal belongings that means anything to him.
He walks to his side stand, his bed beside a window. He turns to the bathroom, opening the door and flickering the lights on, casting his shadow into the dark room. His eyes stare back at him, silver hair falling straight down his face and the tattoo very visible from the side of his neck. Yukashi's neck comes into mind, the mark covered by the bandage.
He twists the knob of the sink, water rushing down the drain of the sink; Zero leans down wetting his face. He repeats this a few times then straightens cutting off the flow of the faucet and reaches out for the towel. He dries his face, his thoughts resurfacing causing him to sigh softly putting down the towel and slip off the black uniform jacket.
Following his loose red necktie, his fingers working on his dress shirt when he sojourns his movements. He rushes to the door of his dorm room, yanking it open to see exactly who he smelled it is.
Yukashi.
And Kaname's scent is all over him.
