Chapter 55: Chapter 55

XAVIER

I sank myself into her tight heat as deeply as I could. Her eyes closed, and she moaned my name, arching her back up from the mattress.

This was heaven, my heaven. My home. I’d longed to feel this, to feel her once again. She was hotter than she’d ever been. Slippery wetness coated my cock.

“Open your eyes, baby,” I rasped. I wanted to look into her eyes when I made love to her. I wanted to bare myself in front of her, to show her my love had only intensified with time.

She opened her eyes and gazed with so much love I didn’t deserve, not after everything I’d done.

I crushed my lips to hers, sucking the life out of her. I couldn’t help but think what my life would have been without her. Before her, I had been barely living.

She’d given meaning to my life, a reason to live, a reason to wake up next to her.

Fuck! I’d missed her.

I stopped moving inside, wanting to savor every second of it, to feel her, to feel her warm pussy.

For seven long years, I’d dreamed only of her, of us together, in bed, in my life with our kids. A happy and complete family.

Now, everything felt like a dream. I was afraid I’d open my eyes and everything would be gone, but I wouldn’t let anyone take her away from me. Not even Matt.

“Xavier,” she moaned, moving beneath me, urging me to move.

“Tell me you want me,” I asked, leaning down, balancing my weight on my elbows, and looking deeply into her brown eyes. So mesmerizing, so beautiful.

She glared. “You’re balls deep, buried inside me, and you’re asking if I want you.”

I chuckled.

“I want to stay like this forever,” I said and kissed her again before she could say something witty with her smart mouth, and before she could see the fear in my eyes, how afraid I was of losing her this time.

Now that I knew what it was like to live without her, I didn’t want her out of my sight, not even for a second.

I pulled out and slammed back into her, over and over, my thumb rubbing her swollen clit. She cried my name, which only added fuel to my desire.

I couldn’t say how much I’d wanted to hear my name from her lips. A few months before, it had only been a dream. Now that she was back in my life, I was never letting her go this time.

I’d fight harder this time to prove to her we were made for each other.

We were soulmates.

I thrust slowly and then faster. Her perfect tits bounced with each thrust, making it harder for me to last long.

Fuck! There was nothing sexier than seeing piercings in her tits. I dipped and captured her pink nipple in my mouth and sucked hard.

My tongue swirled the little bud until she was crying out, back arched for more.

She whimpered, threading her fingers in my hair, and I swirled my tongue on top of the nipple slowly, teasing her. I switched to the other nipple.

A shudder rippled through me as she scratched her nails harder on my back, marking me, claiming me.

She pulled my hair up and brought my face up to meet her lips.

She kissed me, softly at first, her tongue darting out as she ran the tip of it across my lips, then more roughly as she gripped my stubbled jaw harder. Without holding back, I kissed her even deeper.

Sliding my other hand down on her clit, I rolled my thumb over it and thrust harder, angling my hips so I could reach her G-spot.

Her nails scratched even deeper down my back as I pounded into her hard and fast.

She was close. I could feel the way tension tightened in her body as she neared the edge. I fucked harder and faster, giving her what she wanted this moment.

“Fuck,” I snarled, baring my teeth. “Come for me, baby.” I plunged into her, giving her every last fiber of my strength until I felt her shudder and come apart around me.

“Xavier, oh God!” she panted, breaking from my lips, her eyes rolling back in her head as she came. Her pussy was gripping my cock like a vise.

She cried out her orgasms, and the sounds of her pleasure echoed off the walls of the room. I was so damn close, but I wanted this to last forever.

I wanted to stay inside her forever. I continued thrusting, and her pussy continued spasming around me, bringing on my orgasm, and I filled her with my cum.

I leaned my head against her and placed a small kiss on her forehead. “I love you, Melody. I love you so fucking much,” I whispered.

I didn’t know if I imagined it or if she really stiffened at my declarations.

Staring down at her bright brown eyes, I saw a flash of uncertainty. I ran my hand down her gorgeous face, wondering what had brought this on.

I pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, staring into her eyes intently. “You can tell me if something is bothering you,” I whispered softly.

She shook her head, pushing away the worry that was swimming in her eyes, and smiled. “Nothing.”

I settled beside her, and she placed her head on my chest. “We should sleep.” She looked at me and grinned mischievously. “Not that we’re going to get much sleep.”

I glanced at my watch. It was 4 a.m. We hadn’t stopped making love since we’d stepped into our room. Three times I had buried myself inside her, and I was hungry for more.

I pulled her tightly against me, enjoying the warmth I’d missed for so long. It was a moment that we both basked in; no words needed to be exchanged as we held on to each other.

“Tomorrow is a big day,” she mumbled sleepily.

Tomorrow indeed was a big day. Our last day in Las Vegas. After the wedding and reception, Dan and Asher would take off for their honeymoon, and we’d all go back to where we belonged.

But where did that leave us? She would go back to Sydney, and I’d go to New York. Even if I’d wanted to move to Sydney, it would take two to three months, due to a pending trial.

~Can I ask her to come with me for two months? ~

~

I could talk to Carter, and I knew he would definitely allow her to work from home for two to three months.

“Baby?” I whispered.

No reply. I sighed and pulled her closer against my skin. I couldn’t get enough. I needed more. More touch, more love, more everything. I wanted my future with her.

Carter would arrive in the morning before the wedding started. I’d talk to him. I had to talk to him because I wasn’t ready to spend even one day without her.

Moving to Sydney would be good for Mila too. She would be close to her grandparents.

I knew if she didn’t want to give me another chance, she would come up with different reasons, and I was ready for anything.

This was one thing about lawyers—we prepared ourselves before the prosecution. We had to be ready for anything and should know how to strike back.

I stared at the love of my life for a long minute before my eyes started feeling heavy. I placed a kiss on her temple and closed my eyes, welcoming the darkness.

***

I’d woken up hard as nails and wanting her all over again. I reached for her, only to realize she wasn’t in bed. I jumped out of bed and pushed the washroom door open. She wasn’t there either.

~Fuck! She snuck out again!~

~

I pulled on my boxers and pants. I reached for my shirt, but stopped when I heard a knock on my door and Mila’s voice. “Daddy.” She knocked again.

I opened the door and crouched, opening my arms. She ran and wrapped her tiny arms around me. “How did you sleep?” I lifted her in my arms and walked back to bed.

I lowered myself on the edge of the bed with Mila on my lap. She just stared at me with questioning eyes.

“Do you want to ask something, sweetie?” I asked softly.

She stared at me a second longer before speaking. “Cinderella’s stepmom hates her,” she whispered, looking down at her lap.

I tensed up.

“Honey?” I grabbed her chin and tilted her face up. Her eyes moistened. “Nana was talking to Pop. You will marry your girlfriend, and she will become my stepmom. Will you marry her?” she asked.

I didn’t know how to answer, but I wasn’t going to lie to her, not when I’d told her that lying was bad. “Not now, baby, but someday, yes, I want to marry her.”

“Why?”

“Umm, because I love her and she loves me.” Melody hadn’t once said those three words, but I could see in her eyes she still loved me. And I didn’t blame her for keeping her guard up around me.

She had every reason because I had hurt her in the worst possible way. She’d lost so much because of me. Our son had died because of me.

I promised to myself, from this moment I would do anything in my power to make her happy and to give her what she wanted. I couldn’t change the past, but I’d fill her future with joy.

I wanted babies with her, but if she wasn’t ready, I wouldn’t pressure her. And if she’d be ready in the future, I’d be with her every step because I didn’t want to miss a second of it.

I hadn’t been with her during Owen. Sometimes, I still wondered how she’d looked while she was carrying my son, what she’d craved, but I’d stopped myself every time I’d wanted to ask.

Owen would have been the luckiest to have her as a mom if he’d survived. She had a love for everyone. Once she started loving someone, she loved fiercely.

“And I promise she will love you too,” I assured her and kissed the tip of her nose.

“And you don’t love mommy?” she asked. Her eyes sought answers.

“Do you want mommy?” I asked. I hoped I hadn’t done anything wrong in taking her mother from her.

I knew she wasn’t a good mother and not even a good human, but she was still the woman who’d brought her into this world.

She shook her head. I harshly released the breath I’d been holding. “I want to be with you, Daddy.” She placed her head on my chest. I closed my arms around her.

“Daddy loves you, sweetie,” I whispered, kissing her crown.

“I love you too, Daddy.” My heart soared at hearing my daughter wanted to be with me. I didn’t know what I would have done if she’d wanted Lisa back in her life.

She pulled back and looked at me. “But Nana said—” She stopped mid-sentence.

“Honey, I told you snooping and hearing someone is a bad habit.”

“She was talking loud with Pop,” she said.

“I’ll talk to your nana, okay?” She nodded. We played for a little while, and then she went back to her nana.

I headed to the shower and changed into a three-piece suit. I couldn’t believe my baby brother was getting married.

I wondered what she was wearing and how she looked. I just hoped she didn’t wear a dress that was too revealing. Whenever I saw someone checking her out, I felt murderous, just like last night.

She’d deliberately pulled that stunt. I knew that she liked to tease me.

I chuckled, thinking, ~Some things never change~.

Thankfully, she hadn’t gone to that stripper, because a minute later, I’d seen him giving a lap dance to Mia. Jacob had been all fuming at seeing his wife with a stripper.

“Hey, mate!” Gunner exclaimed, standing at the doorframe with Stefan and Cole, enjoying my surprised look.

~What the fuck?~

~

“I told you he wouldn’t be happy to see us.” Cole stood in front of me and grinned and punched my shoulder. “Or won’t be happy to see me.” He wiggled his brows.

Damn right! I wasn’t pleased to see him. There were already so many men who wanted Melody’s attention when I wanted to spend all the time with her.

I glared at them. “What are you doing here?”

“Asher invited us,” Gunner said and pulled me into a hug. “I’m happy for you.” He smiled.

“There’s still so much, brother.”

“We trust you. This time, you’ll make the right decision.” Stefan clapped my back.

I let out a heavy sigh and decided I needed to confide in someone about everything. “Things are still not as easy as they seem. She still doesn’t trust me fully.”

“You hurt her, dude. How can she trust you? You have to earn it again,” Stefan said, rounding the corner and standing near the window.

Guilt simmered in my gut. I knew it was my fault that I’d given up on her so easily. Not only that, I’d ditched her when she’d needed me.

“But if she’s still giving you a chance—” He stopped, first looking at me, then out the window. “Umm, she’s talking to her ex-fiancé on the lawn.”

I immediately walked to the window and followed the direction of his gaze. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was.

She was talking to Matt with their hands joined. A stab of jealousy went through me.

Matt cupped her face and leaned forward. Fury unleashed inside me. I stormed out of the room before I knew what I was doing.

I took the elevator. My every vein was about to burst, and my head was about to blow from the steaming rage boiling inside me.

I stopped as I saw them in each other’s arms. My blood instantly boiled at the sight of her with him.

All I wanted to do was go down there and punch the motherfucking asshole in the face for having his hands on my girl.

I was debating whether I should interrupt them or not. I heard a voice. “If I were you, I wouldn’t be surprised at seeing them together again.”

Matt’s date stood beside me. “Hi. I’m Charlotte.” She stretched her arm out.

I ignored her. “How do you know them?”

She pulled her hand back. “We went to the same high school.”

I studied her for the first time. “You look younger, a lot younger, than them.”

She avoided my suspicious glare. “She dated my brother in high school, and Matt’s little sister is my best friend.” I could hear dislike for Melody in her voice.

“Stop kidding yourself that she loves you. She does that with everyone but always ends up with Matt,” she said and glanced ahead.

“She did the same with my brother, and when he started falling for her, she accused him of molesting her,” she hissed.

My head snapped in her direction. “You’re Clay’s sister,” I growled.

It was her time to be surprised. “How do you know?” Suddenly, she started laughing. “Melody told you too, to gain extra sympathy.”

Her demeanor changed. “My brother could never have done such a thing. He loved her.”

Before I could say anything, Mia stepped in front of me. “Your brother tried to rape her.” Mia poked her finger into Charlotte.

“He spiked her drink, and you should be thankful to Melody if he’s still living free instead of rotting in jail,” Mia growled.

“Why would he go to prison? She’s a fucking liar! She always wanted all the attention on her. She—”

“We have proof! He fucking taped everything!” Mia snapped.

All the blood drained from Charlotte’s face. “I don’t believe you,” she hissed.

“You don’t believe me? Ask him.” Mia turned to me. “You still have that video?”

I nodded. “I kept it in case Melody wanted to file a complaint against him.”

“I want to see it,” Charlotte said.

“Why don’t you ask your dear brother? If he still denies it, I’m ready to file a complaint on behalf of Melody. I haven’t done anything yet because she stopped me,” I warned.

“I want to kill your brother because his punishment was too little for what he did to Melody.” I snuck a glance at Melody and Matt. They were still talking, unaware of what was happening here.

Mia turned to me.

“We’re taking off for church. Dan, Asher, and your parents left a while ago,” she said and placed her hand on my shoulder. “Just give her some time. She’s overwhelmed after last night.”

Mia glanced at Melody and sighed. “She’s suffered a lot in the last few years. It fucking hurts to say, but she’s not the same Melody we knew.

“She’s suffering from depression. She might not let you see it, but she’s weak. A little mistake might hurt her badly.

“Just be careful around her, and if you hurt her this time, I swear to God I’ll kill you,” Mia said and took off.

I watched Melody kiss Matt on the cheek and then follow Mia. Jacob, Rick, and Sandy were waiting for them in the parking lot.

I turned to walk back to my suite, but my feet stopped mid-stride at Charlotte’s voice. “You love her.” Not a question, but a statement.

I swiveled. “I love her.”

“She’s using you both. She has already wrapped Matt around her finger. He can’t see anything except her. But you can save yourself from her before she ruins you for good.”

My lips twitched in understanding. “Does this advice have anything to do with your one-sided feelings for Matt?”

Her jaw ticked, and I had a feeling I might have hit on the truth. “No,” she snapped.

“By the way, did she tell you they were each other’s first?” she said with a wicked smile. I knew she was talking about Matt and Melody.

I kept my professional face and nodded, feeling as if I’d been kicked in the gut. “I know everything about her,” I managed to say, ignoring the way my stomach was twisting in knots.

They were each other’s first? Why hadn’t she told me? Or maybe it had never come up.

I shook my head. It didn’t matter who her first had been.

What mattered to me was that I was her last and only.

“Let’s see how long you can hold her before she jumps at someone else’s cock,” she laughed and fled to the lobby.
