Chapter 58: Chapter 58

^FOUR MONTHS LATER^

MELODY

The first thing I learned from my creative writing was never to start a story with a character waking up. The beginning should be more creative so the reader engages and builds up a little curiosity.

But what about dreams? Couldn’t I write about a dream?

A dream about getting married. Living happily ever after with dozens of kids playing, screaming, running all over the house, or waking with a mouth on your pussy.

He looked up and grinned. “Good morning, love.” He kissed my inner thighs.

“Xavier,” I moaned, gripping his hair and holding him where I wanted him. He sank his fingers into my thighs and pushed them apart roughly and dove in like a starving beast.

I felt his eager tongue dance over my clit. “Fuck!” I cried out, tipping my head back and closing my eyes.

I didn’t know why I’d been extra sensitive these days. A small kiss from him or seeing him with a naughty smile on his lips made me want to jump on him like a cat in heat.

I moaned, gripping his hair in my fist as he slowed his pace and moved his tongue in long, slow strokes over my clit, lapping at me like I was the most delicious treat.

“Oh, Xavier,” I screamed, unable to keep my voice low when he sealed his lips around my clit, sucking on it mercilessly, making my legs begin to shake at once.

He looked up, satisfied with my reaction. He knew just what to do with me. Just how to use me, how to touch me.

“More,” I said and parted my legs even more.

He smirked, and I know what he was waiting for. But I wouldn’t give him satisfaction this time. I wouldn’t beg. I smirked back, and my hand reached down, but he gripped it.

He growled and buried his face down to my pussy with my hand in his.

He moved down and let out a growl as his tongue teased my entrance, slipping it inside me for a moment and thrusting a couple of times. He fucking knew that this drove me crazy.

He pushed two fingers inside me, and at the same time, he began to suck on my clit once more. I could already feel my knees starting to tremble.

Fuck, I was close, so close to the edge that my pussy clenched around his fingers as they moved inside me, hard, fast, rough, and he continued to fuck me with his hand.

I grasped his head again, pulling his hair. I knew I wouldn’t be able to control myself. More to the point, I didn’t want to. Within a second, I cried out as I came on his mouth.

“Oh Fuck! Fuck! Xavier!” My stomach clenched, and I arched up off the bed as the pulsations rushed through me, more than I could take or stop.

He held me in place, one hand on my belly to keep me from writhing out from underneath him, as he continued to mercilessly tease me with his tongue.

When he pulled back, his mouth was glistening with my wetness. “Come here,” I said, and as soon as he reached up, I grabbed his face and smashed my lips with his.

We both groaned together as our lips met for the first time in twenty-four hours.

“I missed you,” I whispered, breaking the kiss.

He rested his forehead against mine. “I missed you too.” He balanced his weight on his elbow and gazed into my eyes. “How are you feeling? Do you still feel low?” His concern was visible.

“I’m horny,” I said, straddling him.

“Melody,” he warned.

“Okay. I’m feeling pretty good now,” I replied. “How was your meeting? And what time did you come home?”

“The meeting was good.” He traced his finger along my jawline, and his thumb traced my bottom lip.

“I wanted to wake you up, but you were smiling in your sleep. What were you dreaming about? Because I want to see that smile again on your face.”

I shrugged. “Just a dream.” I leaned down to kiss him.

He stopped me. “Tell me about your dream.”

“Later, but first I want to taste you,” I rasped, trailing kisses down to his neck.

He grabbed my shoulder and sat up straight, holding me closely, still in his lap. “I have a meeting in an hour,” he said. “Before that, we’ve got to go home. Mila will be waiting for us.”

He kissed my nose, then rested his head on my shoulder.

“Yeah.” I tried to slide off his lap, but he held me even tighter.

“We better go before she wakes up,” I said and told him about how Mila had wanted to have a slumber party with me. I’d wanted that too, but I couldn’t due to my fever.

He sighed. “I’ve asked you before, but I will ask you again. Move in with me?” He looked at me hopefully.

“Okay,” I whispered.

“What?” he looked up, like he couldn’t believe I’d agreed to move in with him, and I didn’t blame him for not believing.

Every weekend, he would ask, and I would ask him to give me time. Now, after the dream, I wanted to make it true. I wanted him; I wanted to get married.

I didn’t know about children, had never thought of it because Mila perfectly filled the emptiness.

After moving here, I had been a little nervous to meet Mila as her father’s girlfriend.

I had been pretty much surprised when she’d called me Aunt Melody at the reception, because she hadn’t known me when she’d seen me hit her father.

It had been bothering me so much, and unable to hold back my curiosity anymore, I’d finally asked her how she’d recognized me.

It turned out when she’d gone to Portland on vacation, she’d seen my picture on Jake’s phone, and he’d told her about me.

It hadn’t taken long for us to bond with each other. She’d unknowingly made her way into my heart. Now I couldn’t imagine my days without her.

Sometimes I felt guilty too, because I couldn’t help seeing my Owen in her. I knew she wasn’t Owen, and my Owen was never coming back.

It still hurt, but Mila soothed the pain that Owen had left behind.

She made me feel what it was like to be a mother again. I might not have given birth to her, but she was my daughter. I loved her as my own.

These four months had been bliss, not only because I finally had Xavier, but because of Mila too.

I lifted my hand and laid it softly on his cheek, aching for him. “I said I’ll move in with you.”

“Really?” He smiled, showing all his teeth.

I nodded. He pulled me into his chest, holding me tightly. “Thank you, love,” he whispered.

“Shit, it feels like a dream.” He pulled back and grabbed his phone from the side table. Let me tell Mila.”

“No, we’ll tell her this evening, together,” I said, reminding him of our plan.

“About that—” He hesitated.

“Xavier!” I hopped off the bed and crossed my arms. “You can’t do this, not again!” Last week, he had also bailed on us.

“I’m sorry, but this client is very important.” He stood and grabbed my hand.

“No, Xavier. We promised her! We will take her to an amusement park this week. God, Xavier, she’s so excited.” I stepped back.

He stepped forward. “I can’t, but you both can go. You can take her to an amusement park.”

“What?!” I snapped. “You’re kidding?!”

He shook his head. “She’s happier with you than me.”

“So? I don’t know how to take care of kids in an amusement park. It’s a crowded place. What if I lost her?” I shook my head.

“I’m not going with her alone. Either you come with us, or we’ll cancel it,” I said and walked into the washroom.

~Should I Google how to take care of kids in an amusement park?~

~Fuck!~

I brushed my teeth and took a shower for more than twenty minutes. After drying myself, I stepped out of the bathroom, wrapping a towel around my body.

Xavier was still sitting on the bed, talking to someone in a hushed voice. Seeing me, he stood and walked closer. “I’ve got to go. If you want, we can reschedule our plan.”

He cupped my face. “But Mila would be very happy if you took her to the park and—”

He paused for a second, his hand sliding down to my neck. He cupped the side of my neck in his large hand.

“Accept it, love. You’re afraid to spend time alone with her,” he said, running his thumb up my throat.

I looked up. “That is the last thing in my mind,” I said. “And yes, I get a little nervous when we’re alone.” I sighed and rested my head on his chest.

I confessed my fear. “I’m afraid if I do something wrong, she’ll hate me.”

“Baby,” he said softly, his finger caressing my wet hair.

“She’s not gonna hate you, and it’s time to finally let go of your fear and just be yourself around her so she can know the real you. And believe me, she loves you.”

I felt my eyes well up and tears drip down my face.

“Okay,” I stepped back and looked up. He lowered his head and swept his lips over mine. His kiss was soft and warm, and I slid my hand into his hair to encourage him.

It didn’t take much before his mouth opened over mine. My horny hormones woke up, and pulling his head down, I kissed him harder.

He pulled me close until my breasts were pressed against his chest, and I could feel the long ridge of his erection against my stomach.

“Love,” he whispered, breaking the kiss and nuzzling his face into the crook of my neck. He put one hand at my hip, his thumb tracing the knot of my towel.

I sighed and took a step back, knowing he was holding himself back and asking me to make a move.

If we both didn’t stop now, then we would spend the whole day in bed. Naked. It had been more than three days since we’d had sex.

After I’d moved here, never a single day had passed when we hadn’t made love, except when I’d had a high fever last month that had lasted for a whole week.

He’d been with me the whole time, taking care of me, giving me sponge baths.

I watched his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed hard. “Tonight,” he promised. Even after four months, I couldn’t control the blush. When I replayed our lovemaking sessions, I couldn’t help but blush.

He laughed, pulling me closer with his hand on my waist. “Get ready. I’m going downstairs.”

He nipped my ear and whispered, “Tonight, this greedy ass is going to be fucked hard.” He squeezed my hips and left, chuckling.

I quickly changed into a peach floral-print jumpsuit and left my hair down.

“I really want to come with you,” Xavier said, squeezing my hand as we walked in. I sighed and nodded.

“I know,” I whispered and squeezed back to let him know I wasn’t mad. When we stepped inside the living room, Luisa was sitting on a bench, reading a newspaper.

She stood and nodded in our direction with a smile. “Where is Mila?” I asked.

“I’m right here, Melody!” Mila shrieked and came running in my direction. Light-brown pigtails bounced around her shoulders.

I knelt, opening my arms, and she ran straight to me and wrapped her tiny arms around me. “How’s my favorite girl?” I asked, kissing her hair.

She pulled away and smiled up at me, and my heart stuttered. “I missed you,” she pouted.

“Oh, baby, I missed you too,” I whispered, pulling her once again back to my chest. It had been two days since I’d seen Mila, and I’d really missed her.

“Wow, you guys have forgotten me,” Xavier said. I laughed and pulled back. Mila stepped back and walked up to Xavier.

“No, Daddy.” He lifted her to his chest, and she threw her arms around his neck. “I would never forget you. I love you.” She kissed his cheek. My heart melted at the tiny gestures.

“I love you too, sweetie.” His eyes closed as if he was savoring the warmth emitting from Mila. Soon, we headed to the dining room for breakfast. Dan and Asher would be joining us soon.

I chuckled inwardly as I remembered Mia calling me after I’d moved to New York.

~“I think Dan is ready to move to New York,” Mia informed me. “He said someone needs to be close if Xavier fucked up again.”

~

~“He’s being a jackass.”~

~

~“He’s just worried about you,” Mia said.~

~

A month later, he’d moved to New York and expanded his business. Now it had become a habit to have Sunday breakfast together.

“Yay! Pancakes!” Mila screamed in delight as she hopped on the stool beside me.

I chuckled, mixing pancake batter. She talked all the while I made a few pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast.

She was continuously talking, bouncing on the stool, while telling me what she’d done yesterday, and out of the blue, she asked, “Will you marry my daddy?”

“What?” I looked at her.

“Daddy said he—” Her eyes widened as if she’d blurted out something she shouldn’t have said.

“I’m going to pee,” she said and ran to the hallway that was entirely in the opposite direction of the washroom.

I chuckled and flipped the last pancake. A few seconds later, I felt a pair of hands on my waist and lips on my neck. “I can get used to this,” he murmured.

“Used to what?” I whispered.

“Seeing you making my house a home.” He nipped my skin with his teeth. “Thank you,” he whispered and licked the place where his teeth had marked my skin.

I moaned, leaning more into his body, and ground my ass against his rock-hard cock.

I switched off the stove before turning. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I leaned closer. “For what?”

He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest. “For making Mila happy. For accepting me and giving me another chance.” He kissed my forehead.

“And most of all, thank you for coming into my life.”

I opened my eyes and saw love in his eyes. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” he whispered and was about to kiss me. We jumped apart when we heard Mila’s voice.

“I love you three!”

We both laughed, crouching at the same time, and kissed her cheeks. “We love you four,” we said together and started laughing, looking at each other.

I had been having the best day of my life until Mila said, “Melody, I want to do the roller coaster first! Please? Pretty please!” I intertwined our fingers so she couldn’t run away.

The roller coaster was whipping around a massive bright-golden track. People were screaming. I freaked out.

I’d never ridden a roller coaster or a Ferris wheel, due to my motion sickness, and that was why I’d wanted Xavier to come with us, so he could accompany Mila on rides.

I looked around. It had been a long time since I’d been in an amusement park. It was packed with people of all ages and races—families, friends, and lovers.

I was really missing Xavier. I wished he were with us.

I took a deep breath and talked to myself before buying tickets, and soon, it was our turn. Whereas I was nervous, Mila was dancing and screaming at the top of her lungs.

We moved forward, and I reminded her again, “Mila, remember what you have to do?”

She nodded and repeated my words. “Stand up taller. Lift your shoulders. Tilt up your chin.”

“Good,” I whispered and moved forward.

I held my breath as she stood against the mega-ruler.

“Okay, move,” the guide said.

I let out the breath I’d been holding for too long. “Yay!” Mila squealed, jumping up and down.

My stomach twisted with fear as the attendant swung open the entrance gate, and passengers hollered as they got on the roller coaster.

Mila wanted to sit in the front car, but somehow I convinced her to sit in the third. I closed my eyes, praying, pleading, and begging, then I heard Mila’s voice. “Daddy!”

My eyes snapped open, and I looked around, then followed Mila’s gaze. He was walking straight in our direction with a crooked smile on his face.

In a few heartbeats, he slid next to me and grinned at me. “Daddy, you came!”

“I did,” he said. A few other people sat behind Xavier, and the safety bars lowered.

“And your meeting?” I asked, unable to hide my anxiety.

“You okay?” He caressed my face.

I bit my lower lip. “I’ve never been on a roller coaster ride.”

“Then…” He trailed off, looking at Mila. She was still bouncing up and down with excitement.

He wrapped his one arm around my shoulder. “Just forget where you are and think about our first meeting,” he whispered as the car chugged into motion.

“Fuck!” I cursed and gripped the safety bar so tightly my fists hurt.

“Relax,” he murmured in my ear, his lips moving slowly down to my neck. Mila was shouting at the top of her lungs, enjoying the ride.

The ride started speeding up, and I shook my head as my stomach started feeling queasy.

The car paused at the very top. I looked down. “Fucking hell. I’m going to be sick!” I whispered.

“Hey, look at me,” he gripped my chin, tilting my head toward him. He slammed his lips into mine, and at the same time, the car hurled down the slope at some ridiculous speed.

Butterflies swarmed my stomach. I didn’t know if it was from the kiss or the car going down. Mila’s joyous screams roared in my ears.

Xavier pulled back and smiled. He wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer to his chest. “Enjoy it, baby!”

“Yay! Daddy! Melody!” Mila screamed as the coaster made another sharp turn.

“Oh my God, she’s going to fall off,” I shouted, grabbing Mila’s hand. Xavier only laughed.

~What the fuck was I thinking when I agreed to this fucking nightmare ride?~

~

We ascended a few more slopes and then plunged toward the finish line. Xavier helped me off. I was still shaken, my legs wobbly.

“I’m never riding again,” I muttered. Xavier laughed and earned my glare.

Even after I’d said I wouldn’t ride again, we went on several more rides—bumper cars, Ferris wheels, and the old-fashioned carousel.

After the rides, we played some carnival games and grabbed some hot dogs.

At the end of the day, we were tired as fuck, or at least I was. But I didn’t show that, because Mila was still smiling and laughing.

“Melody, I had so much fun.” She bounced on her feet. “I love you!” She wrapped her tiny arms around my waist. I looked at Xavier, who hadn’t stopped smiling.

My heart melted, and I glanced at Mila. “I love you, cutie pie,” I said, picking her up to my chest and burying my face in her soft hair.

“Will you become my mommy?” she asked.

“What?” I pulled back and looked at Xavier. He was kneeling in front of me. I placed Mila down on her feet, and she ran and stood beside Xavier.

She picked out what looked like a jewelry box from Xavier’s pocket and knelt beside him.

“I love you, Melody. From the first moment I saw you, I wanted you, and the next morning you woke up in my arms. I know you are the one for me.

“Our journey has not been the easiest, and I don’t know what the future holds, but what I know is I want to spend my life with you.

“I want to grow old with you, because I can’t imagine growing old with anyone else, nor do I want to. You are the first person I want to see in the morning and the last when I fall asleep at night.”

He paused and looked at Mila, who was jabbing him with her elbow. “There are so many things I want to say, but our daughter wants me to finish my speech so she can ask too.”

He chuckled and then looked at me intently. “Will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you marry me, Melody Adam?”

“Will you become my mommy?” Mila asked.

My hand flew to my mouth, tears now freely falling. People gathered around us.

“Baby?” Xavier said, and his voice held fear.

I nodded and choked while speaking. “Y–yes.” I wiped my eyes and moved forward. Xavier stood and slid the ring onto my finger. “I love you,” he whispered and kissed me with everything.

The people who were witnessing the scene cheered for us.

“Daddy?” Mila pouted, crossing her arms.

“Oh, sweetie.” I knelt in front of her. “Come here.” She walked straight into my open arms.

“Can I call you ~mommy~?”

“Of course, my love.” I kissed her forehead and picked her up.

Xavier came and pulled me closer with his arm around my shoulders. I leaned my head on his chest. For the first time in seven years, I was happy.
