Chapter 10: Chp. 10

Our secret love (girlxgirl) Teacher/Student.Words: 6584

Serena's POV

It's been a year since Toni and I became official. She took me out shopping to buy a new outfit and I honestly felt so pretty, for the first time in so long.

Once we got back to mine she told me she had a few things to do but she would be back to pick me up at 6, she gave me a kiss and left.

I heard a knock exactly on 6, I opened the door and there she was all, in a cute blue suit, a smile, and roses in her hands which she handed to me, "baby I love them they're so pretty," I pulled her in close to me and kissed her. I felt her relax into my body and I smiled, she pulled me inside and closed the door.

"So baby what's the plan for tonight?" I asked, "well I have a surprise you," she smiled but she looked kind of nervous but maybe not.

We ended up at her house but she took us some ass about way to get there.

She had set up the inside with fairy lights and it looked really pretty and it made me really happy.

Toni cooked me dinner and we had a nice night just talking and cuddling.

I went to go to the toilet and when I came back she wasn't in the lounge room anymore so I went into her room and it was all set up with fairy lights, candles and there was rose petals on the floor. I couldn't see her properly so I opened the door up more and walked in, there she was standing there smiling. I smiled back and went and held her hands they were shaking so badly.

"Baby why are you nervous?" She took a breath then replied.

"Since the first day when we ran into each other before class I couldn't get you out of my mind, I was even more ecstatic to learn that I got to teach you for the year. You are the light and love of my life and I'm grateful that you've got to be in my life for this past year," by this point we were both crying, "I know it's been a hard year for you, but you honestly are the strongest person I've ever met. I want to spend everyday loving you and showing you just how much you mean to me. No matter what you go through in your life, I want you to know that I'll always be there for you, hair or no hair, I want to be there for you as your wife," she paused, and got down on one knee, and pulled this box out of her pocket and opened it. The ring was so gorgeous, with a big diamond in the middle and the band was small diamonds around the whole thing, "so Serena Jade will you do me the honour of marrying me?" I was so happy that I just bawled my eyes out I couldn't reply. I eventually remembered that I had to reply, nothing would come out so I just nodded. She cried more but with the biggest smile on her face and put the ring on my finger and it fit perfectly.

I pulled her up and into my arms never wanting this moment to end, I was so happy and just for a moment I forgot about being sick and the fact that I hadn't seen or heard from my mum in about a year.

Unfortunately though because I had been in hospital so much this year because for treatments it means that I have to repeat year 12, but I don't mind because Toni is my teacher again.

The next morning I got woken up to the sound of my phone, it was Dr Green. "Hi Serena your blood test results came back, and I would like the schedule an appointment, today would be preferred if you can?!" He exclaimed, "sure I can come in today in an hour,"

"Okay great I'll see you then," he replied and hung up.

"Baby," I shook Toni awake, "Dr Green just called and I have an appointment in an hour with him about my bloods, do you want to come?"

"Of course my darling, we'll go as soon as we're ready," she replied.

I was really nervous on the way because he could tell me my cancers spread or anything.

Once we got to the hospital I couldn't stop shaking and crying so we sat in the car for 10 minutes and eventually Toni had calmed me down enough that we could walk inside.

After an hour of waiting in the waiting room Dr Green was ready for us, I sat down squeezing Toni's hand so tight that it probably hurt but she didn't complain once.

"So Serena I have good news and bad news," Dr Green told me, there was a pause and then he continued, "We got your blood test results back and I'm so pleased to tell you that you are cancer free," at this point the tears started, Toni squeezed my hand and I squeezed it back.

"Unfortunately for you though it does mean you'll have to come back every fortnight or so to get blood tests to make sure the cancer hasn't come back," he continued, "so we'll make your next appointment for two weeks from today at the same time, but if you have any problems or feel sick or anything out of the ordinary come straight back to the hospital," I nodded and then I'm pretty sure I zoned out because I didn't hear anything else he said, we left and I had still zoned out. The whole car ride home I was just staring out the window, I was so happy i didn't even know how to feel.

Once we got home and back inside and on the couch that's when the tears started. I was so happy and so tired and emotionally drained from this past 11 months, that all I could do was cry.

Toni came over and hugged me, I felt her tears on my top and I squeezed her tight. I eventually stopped crying and could talk, "I'm so happy, it's like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm so grateful to you honestly baby you have no idea,"

"Honestly my love, I would do anything for you if it meant you we're happy and safe," she said to me as she wiped away a tear from my cheek.

Eventually days turned into months, I had been going to the fortnightly appointments and each time would get nervous for the blood test results but every time they came back negative.

My hair has grown back faster than I was expecting, and I now have a nice bob cut, I actually hate it but Toni loves it so I haven't said anything. She has been there for me and helped me recover and get me back on my feet and I was feeling well enough to get a job. It's only twice a week so far, but I've spoken to the manager and she said if I'm feeling up to it she'll roster me on more days because I'm really good at my job. I told her I'd definitely tell her because I wanted to save up as much money as I could so I can save for mine and Tonis wedding.

A few months after the hospital visit I asked Toni to officially move in with me seeing as she had been spending every night at mine anyways and had three quarters of her wardrobe at mine. She said yes and after a few more months she sold her house, and was very happy about that and offered to pay for our wedding but I refused to let her.
