Serena's POV
It was the day of our honeymoon, I was absolutely thrilled. We've had our bags packed for the past week.
Toni's parents offered to pay for the whole honeymoon as a graduation present, we said no but they insisted and wouldn't take no for an answer.
They have honestly been so amazing and I'm so grateful to them.
I rolled over and saw Toni lying there still asleep, I smiled and kissed her cheek before getting up and heading to the shower. We had 2 hours before we had to leave and because I wanted to be there early that meant being there 5 hours early. I kept on getting told it was too early but I couldn't convince myself otherwise.
When I got out of the shower, Toni was still in bed so I left her to sleep longer while I got ready and checked that we had everything, then made her breakfast.
"My darling you didn't have to do this," Toni said when I bought her in her breakfast, "Actually my love I did, you always make breakfast and it's now my turn," I said and kissed her on the lips before continuing my sentence, "I wanted you to feel so special and I wanted to show you how lucky I am to have you,"
"Baby you do that everyday by being mine, you don't need to do anything," she replied, I giggled and felt myself blush, "if you're quick we could slip in some sex before we have to leave," I said and winked at her before turning to get off the bed to leave. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me back, "where do you think you're going Mrs Young?" She quizzed, "I just have to..." i was interrupted by her kissing my lips so softly I almost thought it didn't happen, but she pressed harder and the kiss got aggressive, I took a breath and moved the food onto the beside table before turning back. She had a smirk on her face and I knew that meant business.
A few hours later we were at the airport waiting to board our flight. By the time we had gotten through customs and everything there was 3 hours left. It was the end of the year so it was particularly busy. I didn't like it and got a bit claustrophobic and started panicking but Toni calmed me down.
We took a nap on the seats before our flight, and before we knew it it was time to go. It was my first international flight, I was so scared but I knew I'd be okay because Toni was there.
I slept for most of the two flights, and watched movies in between that time. It went really quickly and before I knew were there.
Another 2 hours later and we were through immigration and on our way to the place we were staying in. We had no idea what we were going to be doing or staying for the two weeks because Toni's parents booked it all, we just told them where we wanted to go.
Once we got to our hotel and through the doors I gasped. The view was absolutely stunning, "baby come have a look at the view," I called out to Toni.
She came out and smiled, "it's beautiful my love, but you're even more beautiful than any view," I blushed and kissed her.
"Lets go exploring my love," I said, she nodded and we got changed and then headed out for the day.
Toni's POV
"Baby can you grab the last bag out of the back of the car?" Serena asked as she struggled inside our house with most of the bags, I just laughed and grabbed the bags before heading inside.
Our honeymoon was amazing and I can't wait to tell my parents all about it. I'm still so thankful that they paid for us to go.
Later on when I was going through the mail, I noticed an envelope with handwriting on it addressed to Serena, I flipped it over to see if there was a return address, the initials A.J.
"Baby there's a letter here for you," I called down the hall, "whose it from?" She called back, "um I think your mum," I heard her footsteps stop for a second before continuing again but back in the direction they came from. "I don't want to open it, just get rid of it. I don't care what she has to say. I told her this at our wedding but of course she doesn't listen," she said angrily but I could hear her voice shake as she spoke. I put the letter in the draw to my desk and went to our room, the door was shut but I could hear her crying.
I opened the door and went and sat at the edge of the bed and rubbed her back. "Why did she leave me?" She sobbed into the pillow, "I'm not sure baby, she might of explained it in the letter. I'm sure whatever her reasoning it was to keep you safe," i comforted her.
"She makes me so angry but I miss her so much," I pulled her into my arms and held her tight, "you know when i saw her at our wedding I wanted to hug her and tell her I missed her but I was so angry that all I did was yell at her. What if I never see her again?" I cried some more, "you will see her again baby," I held her till she fell asleep, and not long after that I fell asleep.
Later on that night I got up to go make Serena dinner but she wasn't in bed. I found her sleeping on the couch holding the envelope.
"Baby," I shook her awake, "what time is it?" She asked sleepily, "it's 9pm gorgeous,"
"Oh I didn't realise I'd fallen asleep. I was going to read the letter but I sat there and stared at it for so long that I must've just fallen asleep," she looked at me, "what do you think I should do my love?" She asked, I held her hand before replying, "baby if you want to open the letter than go for it. You've been wanting answers for over a year now and I think it might give you some closure," she squeezed me hand, "can you stay here while I open it?" She asked, her eyes begging me a little. "Of course baby I have nowhere else to be,"
"Well here goes nothing," I heard her mutter under her breath as she opened the letter and started reading.
To my darling Serena,
I'm so sorry that I have been gone for a year and a half. It was never my intention to leave for as long as I did. My job is a lot more complicated than it seems. I can't say much in case this gets intercepted.
Baby I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you while you had cancer but I wasn't allowed to be.
When I went on a job meeting just two days after you got out of hospital it was meant to be the end of the meetings and I was meant to be getting a regular boring job, but something happened and we got robbed. I'm a very high up person with a lot of money, someone who robbed us found out and said that if I didn't give them my money that they will kill you, I told them no but they wouldn't listen. So I made a deal with them that I wasn't allowed to talk to you or see you or anything and I would be their slave.
Not long after I became their slave I escaped and have been hiding out ever since. I couldn't go home because they knew where we lived.
I've been checking in on you and made sure you were looked after.
I'm hoping I can come home soon,

I turned to look at Serena who is now crying, "you're right baby," she lent into me and we stayed there till she stopped crying.
"How about I make us some dinner my love, and then we can watch a movie" I suggested, she nodded and I left the room to go start dinner.
