SERENAS POV
It's now been 2 months since my first round of chemo, it's been so long too. I haven't heard from my mum at all, I broke down in Toni's arms a few times asking why my mum didn't love me anymore, she just held me close.
I have now lost all my hair, it was such a horrible thing to have to go through. Toni came home one day with a beautiful beanie because I refused to wear a wig.
No one has come up to the house to claim it back so I assume either mum is paying for it or it's already paid off, either way I'm so angry at my mum.
I've been doing all my schooling from home so I don't have to go through the stress of being at school. My friends have come to see me heaps I miss seeing them at school.
"Has anyone at school been suspicious about us at school, surely someone has asked or something?" I asked Toni one day.
"I think a couple of teachers did because I was always offering to bring you homework and would always bring it back but I just explained that we were related," she shrugged, I guess that sounded very reasonable.
Fast forward to today, I had just woken up when I got a call from the hospital. It's been a couple of weeks since my second round of chemo,
"Hi Serena, this is Dr Green. I would like you to come in to the hospital tomorrow, so we can run some more tests?" I freaked out thinking that something was wrong, but then remembered it's just the usual check up they do to make sure my body is responding well to the chemo.
"Okay," I asked and he hung up. I messaged Toni to let her know that I had to go to hospital tomorrow. She responded straight away saying that she'll be there.
She came over after work and slept the night, while I just laid there awake hoping the tests would be okay. I think I finally got to sleep at around 2 am, then got woken up at 8am to get ready. I was exhausted but my day had just begun.
Toni couldn't get the day off, but she dropped me off before going to work, and because the waiting time is forever she said she'd pick me up after work.
I forgot how scary it is just sitting in hospital by yourself. I decided that while I was waiting I'd read a book, it was Fifty Shades of Grey. I looked up occasionally to see a frown or two in my direction but no one came up to me until someone tapped me on the shoulder, I looked up it was just a nurse, "Sorry miss but we've been calling your name for 5 minutes," I put my book in my bag apologising to her. By the time all the tests were done it was beginning to feel late, and I realised that I hadn't checked my phone since Toni dropped me off this morning. 3:30 already, damn. I had one phone call and a message from Toni but that was it,
hey baby i was just calling just to check up on you, and make sure you're okay. Call me back when you can XX
I decided to call her to see if she was done with class yet. She answered pretty much straight away, "hi" I frowned she didn't seem okay, "hi baby have you finished work?"
"Yes," again being really blunt, "well I'm done here are you picking me up or do you want me to find another way?" I asked hoping it didn't sound rude. "No I'll be there in 10," she said then hung up. Wow okay well that was just rude, I hope she's okay. I walked to the front of the hospital just as she was pulling up.
MISS YOUNGS POV
I dropped Serena off at the hospital this morning before heading off to work because I couldn't find anyone to cover my stupid day. I felt bad like really bad and I think she was upset but she hid it well.
Once I was at work I tried to distract myself by marking essays until 9 when classes started but I couldn't shake the feeling. Half way through one of my classes I accidentally tried to call Serena so I hung up and while everyone was doing there tests I sent her a quick message asking her to call when she can.
At the start of lunch I was heading back to my office and had just got there when I noticed something odd I couldn't work it out, so I just walked in and ran straight into my ex. She was sitting on my chair grinning, I put my stuff down on my desk and grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the office and into one of the classrooms.
"Ooo Toni this is new for you do you want me back after all?" She said in a seductive voice, "What the hell are you doing here?" I half yelled. "No need to raise your voice Toni we are in a classroom after all,"
"Bloody hell Anna this is where I work what are you doing here?" I repeated because apparently one time isn't enough, I rolled my eyes while waiting for her reply. At that point she got really close to me, I didn't like it it made me really uncomfortable. "Just watch out who you date, I heard she's your student. We wouldn't want that getting around the school now would we!" She exclaimed. She made me so made by saying that, "so what do you want then?" I asked trying to keep my voice calm, "you.....all to myself," she replied, "no I told you I don't want you back, I don't love you anymore," she smirked at that comment, she put her hand on my face, and moved closer before kissing me, then stopped and kissed my neck, "not even when I do that?" She said, I pushed her away hard, she fell against a table.
"No especially then, I stopped loving you. You're a horrible human and I don't know why I ever married you," I yelled, "NOW GET OUT,". I turned to walk out but she stopped me, then punched me in the eye before leaving. I didn't cry, I just fixed up the table then walked back to my office to eat lunch.
No one said anything for the rest of the day about my black eye that had formed, I tried my best to cover it with makeup but it didn't work that well.
Serena finally called me back a couple of minutes after everyone had left to go home. I realised on my way to picking her up that I must've been really blunt with her because I don't actually remember the conversation I just remember answering the phone and her saying something about going to get her from the hospital and that's it.
After Anna had left I was so mad and angry that I blanked out the rest of the day.
I pulled up outside of the hospital just as Serena was walking out, we drove home in silence.
She must of known something was wrong because she didn't give me a kiss when we pulled up outside the house we just went in, and a couple of minutes later I heard the water running. I went into the room to find out what was going on. "I made you a bath baby," she said smiling, I smiled back flinching a little, she didn't notice she just came over and kissed me and then left me to bath by myself. She knows me so well, when I was younger my mum would always make me a bath when I had had a bad day at school or was upset over something.
Maybe an hour or so later I walk downstairs to find out where Serena is. She had fallen asleep on the couch watching Lucifer. I smiled down at her, I turned the tv off and carried her up to her bed. I curled up next to her, and just laid there staring at the wall.
It wasn't long before Serena was awake, I smiled at her and she smiled back until she noticed my black eye. She looked horrified, "omg baby who did this too you? Was this Anna?" She asked without letting me answer the first one. I nodded, "come here," she said as she pulled me in and held me, that's when I started the cry, she just rubbed my back and told me it was going to be okay. Once I had stopped crying she asked what happened and I told her, by the end of it she looked so mad, that if she didn't have cancer I'd swear she'd rip her to shreds. "No one hurts my girl and gets away with it," she said then kissed me.
We fell asleep in each other's arms and woke up at 7 the next morning.
