It had been 33 hours since Sydney locked herself in the music room of our house.

She had come out for meals and to talk to her mom on the phone. Sydney's mother had been hysterical, and it took everything Sydney could do to tell her mother she was fine and was sorry for not being more clear on where she was. She used the excuse that Mat was having home issues and Sydney had been helping him out. I felt my stomach flop when her mother asked if Sydney and Mat were together. Sydney vehemently denied this, saying she would stop by home soon and to please forgive her.

Now, it had been five hours since Mat went up there and started helping her.

My wolf and I were very anxious to see our mate. And Mat being locked in a room with her, without her wearing my mark or even my scent made it worse.

I heard a door closed, followed by footsteps coming down the stairs; finally, Mat appeared down the stairs. "Woah, she's out of it. She finally passed out onto the floor. Literally, she dropped asleep. I put her in bed-"

Before Mat realized what happened he was dangling in the air by his throat. "You laid your filthy hands on my mate?!"

"I p-put her in your b-bed." Mat chocked out grasping at my wrist.

Releasing the hold on his neck I gave him a warning look before looking back to my parents, Terrance's family.

"So how is Sydney performing with that fucker going to help us bring Logan and his buddy down?" I asked again.

"Sydney will get the boy liquored up and hope he slips." My father said nonchalantly.

"But what if it goes wrong and he hurt her?" I said letting out a growl.

"Son, she knows the risk. She's doing this for y-"

"Jay." A small voice asked.

I turned and saw Sydney standing at the bottom of the stairs rubbing her eye like a sleepy little girl. Sydney solely wore my lacrosse jersey, which hung large around her small figure. Tights covered her legs.

"Jesus," I whispered feeling myself start to develop a problem by just looking at my sexy mate.

"Jay, will you come uh, come up with me?" She flashed everyone a smile.

"Of course," I said taking long strides to my golden-haired mate.

Brushing her hair behind her ear so I could see her beautiful face, and brought her chin up with my finger.

"Don't be embarrassed, Star," I whispered.

She blushed and nodded.

Looking around me she said, "Good night."

"Night Syd," Mat called

"Night Top Eleven." Ash perked up.

Others said, "Good night."

Hopping up the stairs in front of me I followed Sydney all the way to my room.

I went to close the door but left it open a crack to make Sydney feel more comfortable. I turned to see Sydney crawl into bed and then turned at watched me watching her with her olive eyes.

Walking over to her I sat in bed beside her and pulled her into my chest. "Hope you don't mind. I've missed you."

She nodded against my chest.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?" I asked her softly, my lips moving against her silky hair.

She nodded first. "Yeah. I think so. It's just hard to believe that one of my close friends is in Kahoots with the enemy."

"Kahoots?" I asked with a soft chuckle.

She slapped my arm playfully. "Shut up, you know what I mean."

"That I do Star. So why do you need me?" I asked. Realizing how that sounded I added on, "Sorry, I didn't mean it that way, I just want to know what's going through that beautiful head of yours."

I felt her smiled into my bicep.

"I don't know. I just feel-clean."

I laughed. "Clean? What's that supposed to mean?"

"Uh!" Sydney groaned pulling herself out of my arms and smothering her face into the pillow. "You know what I mean." She said muffled.

Cautiously I ran my fingers over her back I said to her lightly. "No, explain this mythical clean feeling, Star."

Before she could answer I started tickling her sides.

She immediately started squirming and laughing and yelling.

"Jay"-suck of breath-"Jay please"-loud laugh-"stop!"

"Never!" I playfully yelled tickling her harder and her laughter grew louder.

As cliché as it sounds her laugh was music to my ears.

"I'll stop if you say I'm the hottest person you've met."

Squirming under me, now facing me and not the pillow Sydney laughed out, "I'm the hottest person you've ever met!"

"Oh you little-"

She was now screaming out because of how severe the tickling was on her sensitive and ticklish sides.

"Say, Jaycen Freakin' Ward, is the hottest and most jockish person you know and then I'll stop," I told her recalling the first time we really talked in class when she told me I was jockish.

"Jaycen Freakin' Ward, is the hottest and most jockish person I know!"

I stopped tickling her, "Aw Star, that's so sweet." I said in a high-pitched girly voice.

Softly laughing Sydney pushed me over and I fell back into the bed. "Oh shut up you big meanie!"

She turned and tried to climb out of the bed.

"Where are you going, Missy?" I asked wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her back onto the bed.

"Let go of me, you big meanie!" Sydney said slapping at my arms lightly.

"If you don't want me to attack you again you'd best not leave."

Letting out a big sigh she said, "Damn. You drive a hard bargain."

Sydney rolled out of my arms but laid on her side still facing me. Propping her head upon her hand she stared at me.

For minutes we stayed in silence.

She looks so beautiful. I wonder what she's thinking. What I would do to know what's running through that little mind of hers. I wonder if Sydney believes I have a chance at her because I really need to have that chance. She's my mate, possibly my one true love, and if she rejects me I honestly believe I will live broken-hearted for the rest of my life.

"What's running through that brain of yours?" Her soft voice asked.

I looked at her and debated between telling her the truth, which would risk her rejecting me now. Or lie to her and risk nothing now.

Go with the truth, My wolf told me.

"I was thinking about how damn beautiful you are and what I would to know what's running through the little mind of yours. I was wonder if you really think that I have a chance with you because I really need this chance. Sydney you are my mate, my one chance at true love, and even though I want you to be mine you can still reject me. But I can't have you reject me because if you reject me I will live broken-hearted for the rest of my life. Sydney I want to win you over. I can-"

Before I could finish my declaration of my love for her, her lips were on mine.

Shock hit me like a lightning bolt. Surprising at first, but brief.

I quickly cupped the back of her neck and pressed her lips closer to mine.

Our lips moved together in sync, her upper lip between mine, and my bottom lip between hers.

As our kiss became more passionate and heated I took her hips in my hand and crushed her warm body against mine. Her left hand threaded in my dark hair and her other gripping my shirt. Tugging on my hair she pulled our mouths closer together, I let out a moan.

Gathering some feeling in my muscles I rolled on top of Sydney to better kiss her.

She lifted her head to meet my lips once again. I cradled her neck with one hand while my other held onto her thigh tracing little circles with my thumb.

When I felt my problem become more prominent I pulled away.

Looking up to me after staring at my swollen lips she asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Everything is perfectly right, Star."

Quirking up her eyebrow, I lightly pushed my hips into hers making her gasp at the feeling.

"Oh," She blushed and dropped her head a little obstructing my view of her face.

Cupping the side of her neck while caressing her cheek I made her look me in the eye. "There's no need to be embarrassed Love."

When I said 'Love' her cheeks darkened into a color I've grown to adore.

"Now, let's go to sleep. We have a long day ahead of us." I told her.

"Fine..." She groaned.

"Don't tempt us, Star." I whispered to her, wrapping my arms around her waist pulling her into my chest.

Cuddling together we feel into a comfortable silence.

Just as I was about to close my eyelids to try to sleep, Sydney whispered just as she fell to sleep, "Instead of being friends with huggingfits can we be boyfriend-girlfriend?"

I chuckled softly at her new word 'huggingfits' and just how silly the question was. "Yes, Star. I'll be your boyfriend as long as you're my girl."

She barely nodded, signaling me that she was drifting asleep.

I smiled down at my little mate, thrilled with the honesty and growth between us.

My wolf growled in satisfaction.

Content I held my mate tight and close against me as I fell into a peaceful slumber.

The scene around me was unfamiliar. I looked to be in a lavish room, like one of a high-end hotel. There was nothing personal around, but the furniture was beautiful and expensive.

"You look so stunning in the moonlight Sunshine."

I turned in the room to see a girl and tall man standing face to face in front of the large windows that gave a perfect view of the cities' skyline.

"Logan," The girl whined.

Looking closer I saw it was Sydney.

A growl escaped me and I pushed Logan away from my mate. Nothing happened when I pushed him.

"Get the fuck away from my mate!" I growled.

Neither of the two seemed fazed.

They can't see us. A voice whispered around me.

Who said that? I asked.

Me. You. Your wolf.

What? What the hell's going on?

Watch.

"I'm so sorry about him," Logan said caressing her cheek with his thumb.

"It's alright," Sydney whispered sadly.

"No, it's not. Your bastard of a mate sleeps around and works away from home, neglecting you. Sydney you deserve better."

Tears were slipping down her beautiful face. "Your mate was so lucky to have you. I feel so bad that Jay ruined your chances with your mate. You two deserve better."

Even though the anger and hurt was clear on his face, Logan enveloped Sydney in a gentle and emotional a hug. "Even though I loved my mate I love you too. We both lucked out."

"How's that?" Sydney whispered.

"We found each other."

Then his lips found hers. They moved together and their kiss became hotter as they moved onto the bed.

I was crying and begging them to stop.

They didn't.

Snapping up I took rapid breathes as I realized that it was only a dream. Or more so a nightmare.

What was that? I asked myself.

But I already knew that answer. My worst night terror.

Looking down at my beautiful Sydney I vowed that that would never happen.

"I love you," I whispered down to her.

Kissing her forehead I pressed her back into me as I fell into a dreamless slumber.
