The atmosphere was peaceful when they had lunch around the round table.
After lunch, the Kennedyâs invited them to have tea at the flower garden at the back.
The autumn sky was clear and the air was crisp with a cool breeze. It was nice weather to relax.
âWell, since weâve known each other for so long, Iâll cut to the chase,â Osmond spoke after letting the housemaids finished pouring the teas.
Alexander certainly agreed with passion. âSure, go ahead. Weâll follow your decision regarding Gina and Caesarâs marriage.â
âThen please excuse me.â Osmond looked generous. âThe wedding is next month and weâll make it big. No matter what, we are still two of the largest families in Kouby City, and we canât be casual at the wedding. We would afford all the expenses regarding the wedding hallâs decoration and the wedding dinner, and the cash gift all belongs to Gina and Caesar.â
âNo problem.â Alexander agreed, so as Fiona.
âAs for the bride price and dowry, letâs stop making guesses. You can tell us any requirement regarding the bride price and weâll try our best to fulfill it.â Osmond looked extremely sincere.
Alexander said, âYouâve taken charge of the wedding dinner, and itâs not a small amount of money, not to mention we only have Gina, our only daughter, and everything that belongs to us would eventually belong to her, we donât have any needs, but we do like to hear her thoughts.â
Having received her fatherâs signal, Gianna quickly said, âI donât have any needs either. My only hope is that the wedding would be merry and everyone is happy.â
âIs there anything you specifically want? I can buy it for you,â Lindsay Peterson, Caesarâs mother quickly said.
Gianna glimpsed at her.
Her mind was full of episodes of how that woman claimed it was for her own good and forced her to drink medicine to let her give birth to children for the family.
She only knew until she died that the so-called medicine was all brewed by disgusting insectâs dead bodies and she would vomit and have diarrhoea for several days every time she drank it. Yet she had actually forced herself to drink that for eight years to give birth to children for the family!
Gianna held back her burning hatred and spoke, âI only like that sapphire from the beginning. Now that Iâve had it, thereâs nothing more that I need.â
The sapphire was obviously a taboo subject that could not be mentioned in front of the Kennedyâs. The facial expression of the Kennedyâs clearly changed when she said that.
Luckily the Kennedyâs was good at acting and they ignored the topic that disadvantaged them. âIf thatâs the case, Iâll not give any unnecessary suggestion anymore. Weâre all gonna be one family after Gina gets married into our family anyway, and you could tell me anything you want whenever you like.â
âThank you, Mrs. Kennedy,â Gianna answered absent-mindedly.
âThen the bride price is settled. As for the dowry, we donât have any requirement too, itâll be okay as long as the children are fine.â Osmond paused and he seemed to have something difficult to speak of. He then heaved a deep sigh and said, âActually, I do have want request now.â
âGo on, donât mind me.â Alexander looked open-hearted too.
âThe Kennedyâs is having an e-commerce project recently. Thereâs no problem with the funding at first, but we have to pay for the bank loan as itâs almost the deadline. Because of this, we have a shortage of funding for the project. We wanted to borrow money from the bank again in the first place, but the bank is lacking money these days too and weâre rejected several times. Having thought for a while, instead of asking help from others, why not straight ask you to lend a helping hand? After all, the Kennedyâs would eventually be Caesarâs and when Caesar marries Gina, it would be both theirs. Although I feel a bit embarrassed to ask help from you, itâs not contradictory to the subject.â
Osmond sounded logical with his smooth talk.
The Morrisâs had indeed lent the Kennedyâs a big helping hand when the Kennedyâs had a crisis in funding in Giannaâs previous life.
And they indeed did not have a reason to decline when Osmond had said until that point.
Alexander glanced at Gianna.
Gianna nodded.
Alexander then said, âSince weâre a family, we should help. I wonder how much money does the Kennedyâs need this time.â
âIt should be around two billion yuan after rough calculations,â Osmond said blandly.
He seemed to think it was a small sum.
Of course, the Morrisâs could afford that amount of money, yet it was not an amount the Morrisâs could squander.
Gianna smiled and asked, âAccording to my knowledge, two billion yuan is exactly the amount of fund the Kennedyâs needs for the e-commerce project. Could Mr. Kennedy possibly unable to afford a single penny?â
Osmond was slightly embarrassed.
He did not expect her to know that project.
And he had not even expected her to say that out loud.
What she meant from her words was obvious. The Kennedyâs was asking the Morrisâs to invest in the project wholly and the Kennedyâs would just sit back and enjoy the benefits.
They were all businessmen.
No one could accept this kind of bargain!
The situation went a little awkward at once.
Caesar quickly explained, âThe Kennedyâs stock market dropped and weâve allocated part of the fund to compensate to balance the market.â
âOh, really?â Gianna seemed like she had suddenly understood it.
No one could tell that she actually knew the Kennedyâs stock market needed only ten million yuan to compensate.
And ten million yuan was the same as nothing in front of one billion yuan.
Caesar was secretly relieved when he saw Giannaâs expression.
He thought Gianna knew it very well, but now it looked like she had just heard about the project through rumors. Why would a woman who had all her heart set on marrying him and becoming his good wife know about business?
âDad, since the Kennedyâs has encountered difficulty in their investment project, we should help them,â Gianna said to her father.
Caesar let out an evil smile.
He knew Gianna was still that foolish woman he could manipulate.
Alexander no longer understood Gianna now. She insisted to cancel the marriage and now she wanted to offer help. Although he was baffled, he still nodded. âWeâre gonna be one family in the future, and we certainly have to help each other.â

âIâll thank you for your kindness now. Of course, Iâll not take your money for nothing, Iâll return the money to you the moment the projectâs earned money,â Osmond hurriedly said. He was smiling from ear to ear.
âBut what if itâs suffered a loss?â Gianna suddenly asked. She seemed to ask it very casually.
Osmond let out a wry smile. âWeâve done a wholesome examination on the project, itâs unlikely it would suffer loss.â
âWe canât say it for sure for anything regarding business,â Gianna muttered. She then smiled innocently at Caesar. âRight? Caesar.â
âYes, but weâve made an absolutely safe plan for the project. Donât worry, it wonât suffer loss,â Caesar consoled her gently.
âI suppose you wonât be able to return the two billion yuan if the project suffers losses.â
âThatâs impossible,â Osmond quickly said. âThe Kennedyâs doesnât only rely on one project. Even if the projectâs suffered loss, weâre still gonna have income from other project and weâre definitely capable to return the money.â
âSince Mr. Kennedy insists to return the money, letâs write an IOU.â Gianna smiled.
She looked harmless.
As if what she said was something reasonable, not something that would hurt the familyâs relationship.
