~Girl's Day~

~Material Girl~

I literally screamed when I looked into the mirror. I looked like a lunatic. I'm never going out on a sunday night.

"Hey" Julie said, coming into the bathroom "How are you feeling?"

"I feel like a mess" i said "Honestly. I don't want to go to scool today"

"Me neither but I tell you what" she said "Today at school you just ignore Adam and after school we will have a girls day together with Connie. What do you think?"

"I can do that" i said, smiling. Julie walked to me and hugged me.

"You're going to be fine. He's a dick for letting you go and trust me you're gonna become a baddie after this." she said "We're gonna do this together"

How did i deserve a friend like this? Scooter i swear if you ever hurt her. I'll kill you with her skates. Mark my words.

I got dressed and made my backpack.

Outfit inspo

"Ready to go?" Julie asked, coming out of the bathroom. I nodded and we left.

"I have to go to the locker room for a second. The coach has to talk to us about something" Julie said, when we walked through the Edan Hall dours.

"Sure I'll be at my locker" i said

I was taking out some books and putting some in when i felt a tap on my shoulder. It was that cheerleader from yesterday.

"Ye?" i asked glaring at her

"You're Adam's girlfriend right? Or was?" she asked

"Yes"

"Well I just wanted to apologise for yesterday. It was not my intention to be a homewrecker. I didn't even know he had a girlfriend and trust me I know how it is to be cheated on." she said in one breath

"It's fine you, can have him. He's not my problem anymore" i said and walked away to my next class.

First I had Greek. Luckily I was only sitting next to Adam for our project. So now I can sit back at my original seat.

Our teacher gave our back our grade for our project and we got an A+.

After Greek I had Biologie and French then lunch. By now all of the ducks knew about me and Adam and they were really suportive.

"You know I can play a song for you if you'd like" Dwayne said, leaning over the table "I can not only play the saxophone but also the trumpet"

"That's nice" i said smiling

"Do you wanna watch training after school?" Connie asked

"Sure I would love to"

"Hey has any one of you heard something about Charlie and Fulton" Luis asked

"Ii did. They work at the music store now" i said "I got a job there too"

"That's so cool" Kenny said

All of the sudden he got janked out of his seat and his lunch bag was stolen.

"What did you pack for us today" Cole said looking through the bag.

"Please stop" Kenny pleaded

"Hey! Zip it!"

"Hey! Since when are you too poor to make your own lunch? Did the maid forget to do it for you? No? Then I would like for you to leave and stick with your Varsity jerks and eat their lunch for all I care but leave us alone" I said grabbing the bag from him

"Whatever" Cole said and walked back to his table. I followed him with my eyes and locked them with those blue ones. I just shook my head at him and sat back down.

"Thank's for sticking up for me" Kenny said

"No problem. Someone had to do it sooner or later"

After school

"Ready to go?" Julie asked

"Yep" i closed my locker and together we went to the rink.

"It's only two hours and after that me, you and Connie will go to the mall k?" she asked

"Julie it is fine, seriously. We don't have to go to the mall if you don't want to"

"Are you serious!? As one of your best friends it's my job to do that and make you feel better after a break up" she said

"Alright alright go get ready before your coach get's mad at me" she hugged me and went into the lockerroom

I was walking in the stands when Connie yelled my name.

"Layla!" she yelled

"What's wrong?"

"Okay there migth be a little problem" she said

"If you can't go to the mall it's fine I already told Julie I-"

"It's worse than that"

"Well tell me"

"Varsity has training now too" she said

"Well that's not that bad" i said

"So you have no problem that Adam's here?" she asked

"If I don't have to talk to him then I'm completely fine"

"Okay then" she said and went to the rest of her team to start training.

They were doing laps when I saw Julie's face literally looking green. She leaned over the railing and started throwing up.

"One cupcake over the line, cat lady" Goldberg said, tapping his stick on her butt.

Goldberg I'm gonna kill you.

I just sat in the stands doing my homework a little. When of course like always. Coach Orion leaves JV alone for one second and they're already fighting with Varsity.

Rick and Luis were fighting with Rick and Cole when Rick grabbed Guy by the collar

"Get him Rick" Cole yelled. Guy was choking. I stood up and started walking down the steps when Adam tapped Rick in the back of his knees and he fell.

"Haha he fell" Averman laughed

"You find that funny? Wait till we beat you again" Rick said "You won't be laughing then"

Do they really have to be that childich? Can they not leave eachother alone for one second?

After training

I was waiting for Julie and Connie when Adam walked out of one of the locker rooms. We just stared at each other akwardly.

"Thank you for saving Guy" i said, breaking the silence

"Ye no problem" he said looking at the ground

We just stood there for a while when Julie and Connie came out of the changing room.

"You ready?" Julie asked, looking between us.

"Yep let's go" i said and we started walking to the bus stop

"What was that all about?" Connie asked

"Nothing. Thanks for saving me back there. I was drowning in the silence" i said stepping on the bus who then after 20 minutes dropped us at the mall.

"Ready girls?" Connie asked

"Let's go" Julie said, taking our hands and running in the mall.

I was in my element as I stepped into the mall with my two best friends. The familiar blend of music, chatter, and the soft shuffle of footsteps on polished floors instantly filled the air, and the vibrant energy of the place seemed to wrap around us like a warm, welcoming hug. Now we were free to wander aimlessly through the vast space, without a care in the world. I felt the familiar thrill of being with my friends, the laughter we shared and the inside jokes.

Connie, always the leader when it came to shopping, was already darting toward the nearest boutique, dragging me and Julie along with her.

"Come on, this new collection is everything," she said, her voice a mix of excitement and confidence, as she pointed to a display of brightly colored dresses.

Me, who had always been the more laid-back one of the group, smiled and followed, content to watch Connie's energetic fashion explorations. Connie flung open the dressing room door with a grin, holding up two completely different outfits—one a green floral dress and the other a soft, yellow skirt.

"Help me decide!" she called.

"Defenitly the dress" I said

"Can you buy the skirt so i have a chance to wear it one day too" she said smiling at me

"Fine come one"

Meanwhile, Julie, with her love for food that was bordering on obsession, was already leading us to the food court.

"Bubble tea, Layla. I swear you'll thank me," she insisted, her eyes sparkling with the promise of a new experience.

I raised an eyebrow but ultimately followed, a grin tugging at the corners of my mouth. The scent of freshly baked pretzels, sweet caramel popcorn, and sizzling stir-fry filled the air, making Julie's stomach growl in response. I could hear them chatting excitedly about their favorite flavors, the sound of their laughter mingling with the hum of the food court.

I, caught in the whirlwind of our energy, found myself drifting toward the bookstore at the far end of the mall. I couldn't resist the comforting pull of books, the promise of a quiet corner where I could lose myself in a world of stories. But, as always, I found myself torn. My friends were a bundle of energy, their plans were always set, always moving. The thought of spending an afternoon alone in a cozy corner of the bookstore felt oddly inviting.

Before long, I gave in and met up with Julie and Connie at the food court, a small stack of books I had picked up at the store in hand.

"You'll never guess what I found," I said, my voice full of excitement as I showed them a rare edition of a book. Connie's eyes lit up at the sight of it.

"You always find the best books," she teased.

The three of us settled around a table with our bubble teas and snacks, our chatter weaving effortlessly between different topics—books, school, and the latest viral trends. Time seemed to stretch out effortlessly, the kind of lazy afternoon where the world outside felt distant and far away, and all that mattered was being together. It wasn't the mall itself that made the day so special, but the simple joy of our shared moments, the comfort of knowing that, no matter where life took us, we would always have these carefree, unspoken connections.
