~After Party~

~There She Goes 💿~

"Sorry to bother" Julie said, pulling us a pard "But we got to get ready for the party"

"Okay, see you there Adam" i said and started walking with Julie and Connie to the dorms. By now Connie has half of her wardrobe in our dorm.

We were in our dorm, surrounded by clothes, makeup, and accessories, as we got ready for the big party. The air was filled with excited chatter as we prepped for the night ahead.

Julie was standing in front of the mirror, trying to tame her wild hair.

"Ugh, I swear, I have to bring extra gel or something," she said, trying to smooth down the strands that refused to stay in place.

"I can't believe you guys won. The party's gonna be so much fun!" I said

Connie, rummaging through her part of the  wardrobe, turned around with a mischievous grin.

"You think it's gonna be fun, wait till you see the outfit I'm wearing. What do you think?" She held up a blue top and black leather mini skirt and twirled around to show it off. "Do you think it's too basic?"

Me, sitting cross-legged on the bed, smiled softly. "It's perfect for you, Connie. You'll totally rock it," I said, brushing a few loose strands of hair from my face. "But me? I'm not so sure. I just want to blend in tonight."

Connie rolled her eyes. "Layla, you never blend in. You always stand out. You just need a little confidence. And anyway, you look amazing no matter what you wear."

Julie chimed in, still working on her hair. "I agree with Connie. You always look great, Layla. Plus, tonight's about having fun, not just looking good. So, just enjoy it"

I smiled shyly but nodded. "You're right. I guess I'm just nervous about everything"

Connie threw her a supportive look. "No need to worry. We've got your back. We're in this together, remember?"

Julie finally finished her hair and stood up, grinning at both of them. "Alright, let's do this! Time to show up and have an awesome time. I'm not missing out on this night. You two are my partners in crime!"

The three of us laughed, and as they finished getting ready, the excitement and energy between them was palpable. Their friendship was unshakable.

After getting ready Guy was there to pick us up. He was like our private driver now.

"Connie I have to be starting to get rewarded for this" he said, rolling down his window.

"Who know maybe tonight you will" she said

"Yess!"

"Alright can we go now?" Julie asked

"Guy can we trust you with driving after you're nasty fall on the ice?"

"Shut up I'm getting rewarded tonight"

Me and Julie just looked at each other and klenged on to each other.

When we got there the whole apartment was blasting with music. Parents and kids were dancing and partying. Celebrating the win of the ducks.

The party was in full swing, and I couldn't help but feel a little out of place, standing near the back of the room. My eyes kept drifting toward Adam, who was laughing with his friends by the punch bowl. But as the music shifted to a slower song, I caught Adam's eyes from across the room. For a moment, time seemed to stand still. My heart skipped a beat as he looked at me, his gaze soft and inviting. Then, to my surprise, he started making his way toward me, his footsteps steady and confident.

When Adam reached me, he stopped for a second, clearly nervous but trying to hide it.

"Hey, Layla," he said with a smile. "I was wondering if you wanted to dance?" His voice was gentle, but there was an unmistakable warmth to it that made my heart flutter.

I blinked, not sure if I had heard him right. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out at first. My thoughts were racing, my mind a swirl of confusion and excitement.

Finally, I found my voice, though it was soft and a little shaky.

"I... I'd love to," she said, my cheeks turning pink as I smiled up at him.

Adam grinned in response, his eyes lighting up with that familiar charm that made my heart melt. He extended his hand to mine, and with a deep breath, I took it, the warmth of his touch sending a jolt of electricity through me.

As we made their way to the dance floor, I felt like the world around them faded. The other partygoers seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of us in a quiet bubble of their own. Adam gently placed his hand on my waist, and I placed my hand on his shoulder, both of us swaying to the soft rhythm of the music. My heart raced as I realized how close we were.

For a moment, neither of us spoke. The music filled the silence, but there was a quiet understanding between us, a connection that I had always hoped was there. Adam's eyes met mine, and I saw something in them that made my stomach flip—something warm, something sincere. I couldn't believe it. This wasn't just a dream. It was real.

But then Adam broke the silence, his voice low and steady.

"Layla," he began, his eyes meeting mine with a sincerity that made my heart skip a beat. "I don't know how to say this, but... I need you to know something."

His gaze was soft, almost vulnerable, and I felt my pulse quicken in anticipation. I looked up at him, unsure of what he was about to say.

He took a deep breath, his grip on me tightening slightly as if to steady himself. "I've liked you for a long time," he continued, his words slow but full of emotion. "No, it's more than that. I... I love you, Layla. I have for a while now. I just didn't know how to tell you."

I froze for a moment, my heart racing. I couldn't believe it—those words were everything I had ever wanted to hear, but hearing them from Adam, in this perfect moment, felt like a dream. I searched his face for any sign of doubt, but all I saw was the raw truth in his eyes. He loved me.

"I love you too," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the music, but the sincerity behind the words was clear. I couldn't hold it back any longer. The feeling I had carried in my heart for so long was finally being returned.

"You're not mad at me anymore?" he asked

"I don't think I ever could be"

Adam's smile widened, and he pulled me a little closer, his forehead resting gently against mine.

"I've wanted to say that for so long," he admitted, his voice full of relief and affection. "I was just waiting for the right moment."

As the song played on, I allowed myself to relax into the moment, savoring the feeling of being so close to Adam. I wasn't sure where this would lead, but for now, all that mattered was that I was in his arms, dancing like nothing else in the world mattered.

When the song came to an end we both pulled apart and went of the dance floor.

Adam's pov

I can't believe it. I finally had the guds to ask Layla to dance. She looked so pretty in her white top and blue mini skirt.

I couldn't help but feel a rush of warmth every time Layla walked into the room. Her bright, infectious smile had a way of lighting up the space, and her laughter, so genuine and carefree, made my heart race. I admired the way she carried herself—confident yet kind, always looking out for others with a subtle grace. Her intelligence captivated me, and her sense of humor made her even more irresistible. I often found myself lost in thought, wondering if she noticed the way I admired her from afar. Layla had a certain energy, a magnetic pull, that made it hard for me to think of anything else.

When I snapped out of my day dreaming she was gone. She wasn't in the room anymore. She couldn't be with Julie or Connie because they were dancing with their lovers. I'm happy Julie and Scooter became a thing after all.

I started looking for Layla. In Charlie's room, the bathroom, the kitchen, the dining room, the living room,... She was nowhere.

But there was one place I hadn't looked at. The balcony. I went to the door leading to it and there she was, leaning against the railing.

"Layla?" i asked, opening the door

"Ow hey Adam. Sorry I left i had to get some fresh air" she said

"No problem. I was just wondering"

"They're beautiful aren't they" she said, looking at the stars

"Not beautifuller than you"

"Smooth Adam, smooth" she said, smiling

"Are you really going to with Fulton?" i asked

"Ye why?"

"Well because when he said it, it kinda looked forced"

"What? No...he...we are going" she said

"Oh well okay"

"Did you find someone?" she asked

"No, i didn't" i said "And it's too late for it now. Prom is in two days"

"I'm sorry Adam" she said

"It's fine" i said "Layla?"

"Yes?"

"Do you think if I didn't kiss that cheerleader you would wanna go with me?"

"Yes i do. I was kinda hoping you would ask me but after what happend you know"

"Ye I'm sorry" i said

"It's fine. I forgave you but i haven't forgotten"

"And I will be here waiting for you when you will" i said, looking her in the eyes.
