Layla's pov

I woke up by the sun shining through the window. I felt someone holding me close. I turned around and it was Adam. His face was beautiful in the sunlight. His dirty blond locks shined like it was gold.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer" he said with his eyes closed

"Oh shut up"

"Good morning darling" he said opening his eyes

"Hello" i said

We were shot awake when the door pursted open and a scared looking Julie and Dean were standing there.

"WHAT THE HELL!!" she yelled

"Julie what's wrong?"

"What's wrong? Oh i don't know maybe that you didn't let me know where you were that you locked the door knowing I don't have a key. Sleeping with some dude-

"Hey I'm not some dude" Adam said sitting up strait

"Shut up!" she said, pointing her finger at him "God Layla I was so worried about you"

"Look I'm sorry, next time i'll tell you"

"Next time?" Adam, Julie and Dean said at the same time

"Oh shut up" i said, pulling the blanket over my head.

"It's alright, put some clothes on we'll give you some privacy and start getting ready for graduation" Julie said

"Wait. Where are you going to get ready?" i asked

She didn't say anything, her and Dean just looked at eachother and at the ground

"Guess we weren't the only one with a fun night" Adam said, smirking

"Shut it Banks" Julie said, pulling Dean out of the room

"Dude, rich boy better watch his ass" i heard Dean saying from the other side of the door

"Soooo" Adam said "Now they're gone. WHat do you want to do?" he asked, smirking

"Oh shut up" i said, pushing his face away and getting out of bed

"Are you really getting ready now, we have like four hours till we have to get there"

"Well then I think it won't matter if we have a little fun" i said, putting my hands around his neck

"Oh really?" he said

"Mhm" i said, pressing my lips against his, pulling him on the bed.

(I think you can guess what happens 😏)

I was getting ready when i felt someone's hands around my waist.

"Adam?"

"You look amasing" he said, placing kisses on my neck

"Adam stop i'm trying to get ready" i said, giggling

"Can you help me with my tie please" he said

"Fine" i turned around and did his tie "You would think after 17 years you would now how to make a tie but no"

"Why would I learn if I have you who can do it for me" i started smiling again. God Adam how do you do that?

"Wathever now let me get ready"

Layla's outfit

I was putting on my little black heels when Adam said

"Layla before we go can I give you something?"

"Sure you don't have to ask me that" i said

"I bought you a gift see it as an early birthday present" he said

"Adam my birthday is not till September"

"Just open it"

I wripped the wrapping paper of and it was a blue jewelry box.

"Adam you really didn't have to do this" i said

"I know but i wanted too"

I slowly opened the box and was met with this beautiful gold necklace with a blue diamond as pendant.

Inspo

"Adam this is gorgeous. Thank you so so so much" i said, putting my hands around him. Engulfing him in a hug.

"Can you put it on me?" i asked, giving him the necklace

"Sure" he said

The necklace was beautiful. I can't believe he would do something like this.

"Do you like it?" he asked

"Like it? I love it. Thank you so much"

"You're welcome" he said, smiling at me

I hugged him again.

"Are you guys ready?" Julie peaked her head through the door "Really? Every time I'm gonna walk in here he's gonna be here. I'm happy you guys are back together but seriously."

"Oh shut up Julie. Don't tink Dean and you is of the topic" i said

"Wathever lets go" she said

The three of us left to the seremony and we met together with the ducks.

"Hey Banks, did ya score yesterday?" Goldberg asked, smirking

"Shut up Goldberg"

"Welcome everyone to the graduation of the class of 1996" the dean announced. He started saying all of our names to come get our diploma.

"Layla Willems" he said

I walked on the stage and took my diploma. Funny enough when I looked into the crowd my parents were sitting there with smiles on their faces. My mom was crying and already had three wet tissues on her lap. My dad was standing up and clapping and whistling with his hands in his mouth. I waved and walked through. My grandpa was filming the whole thing.

"Can you believe it we graduated" Adam said, hugging me

"Not really but i'm so happy"

"Layla" i heard. I turned around and my dad was running to me.

"Dad!" i said and ran up to him. He hugged me tight. "I didn't embares you guys here"

"I know you would never do that" my mom said rubbing my back.

"Okay go stand together i wanna take a picute" my granpa said, with his camera in his hands.

After the picture we went to the reception.

Adam's pov

I saw Layla walking away with ehr parents to the reception. God she looked amasing.

"Hey son" my dad said aproching me

"Hey dad"

"You graduated. Never thougth you would do that"

"Well what did you expect? Me to drop out?" i asked

"No but i saw that girl you were talking too. I hope she's not to much of a distraction"

"She's not dad and that girl, her name's Layla she's my-" i stopped. What were we?

"She's your what?" my dad asked

"Be right back" i said "Wait here"

I ran to the reception looking for her. When I saw her talking with her parents i walked up to her.

"Hey, Layla," I said, his voice a little shaky. "Got a minute?"

She looked up, tilting her head with curiosity. "Of course, Adam. What's up?"

I pulled her away from her parents to a calmer room in the school. I took a step closer, my nerves threatening to get the best of me, but I steadied myself. I hadn't planned out what I was going to say. This wasn't something that could be scripted—it had to come from the heart.

"I've been thinking a lot lately... about us, about everything that's happened over the past few years. You know, when I first came to Eden Hall, I never imagined this place would mean so much to me. But it does. And it's not just because of hockey or the team. It's because of you." I paused, looking down at the ground for a moment, before meeting her gaze again. "I realized that what we've built together—everything we've shared—means more to me than I can put into words."

Layla's expression softened, and her eyes searched mine, trying to make sense of the seriousness in his tone. "Adam, I—"

I quickly cut in, not wanting to lose my nerve. "I know we've been through a lot, both on and off the ice, and we've always had each other's backs. But the more time I spend with you, the more I realize... I want more. I want to be with you, Layla. I want to be more than just friends. I want you to be my girlfriend."

For a moment, Layla was silent, her eyes wide with surprise. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, every second stretching into what felt like an eternity. Had I said too much? Was she going to laugh, or worse, tell me she didn't feel the same way? But then, slowly, Layla smiled, and the warmth in her expression made my stomach flip.

"Adam," she said softly, taking a step closer to me. "I... I didn't know you felt that way." She laughed lightly, her eyes sparkling with something that made my heart skip. "I mean, I've always cared about you, you know that. But hearing you say it... it just makes everything feel so real."

I couldn't help but grin, feeling the weight lift off my shoulders. "So... does that mean yes?" I asked, my voice hopeful but playful, trying to mask the nervousness that still lingered.

Layla's smile widened, and she nodded, her voice almost a whisper as she said, "Yes, Adam. I'd love to be your girlfriend."

In that moment, everything felt like it fell into place. The past few years at Eden Hall, all the trials and triumphs, the friendship that had blossomed into something deeper—it was all leading to this. I reached for her hand, feeling an overwhelming sense of happiness washed over me. Layla squeezed my hand in return, her eyes filled with a mixture of joy and affection. As we stood there, the sun beginning to set behind us, we both knew that this was just the beginning of something new and exciting—together.

I stepped a little closer to her and she did the same.

I kept getting closer untill our lips met.

It was magical. If you would have told me a year ago I would have a girlfriend I would have laughed in your face but now. Now standing here with her it felt so real.

When we pulled away we went back to the reception.

"So now you're my boyfriend would you like to meet my parents?" she asked

"Sure"

We walked to her parents and can I say her parents looked a little intimidating. I wiped my sweaty hands down my pants and followed her.

"Mom, Dad" she said "This Adam, my boyfriend"

They both looked at me and smiled

Layla's mother greeted me with a big smile, pulling me into a tight hug. Her father, a tall man with kind eyes, shook my hand firmly before pulling me into an embrace as well.

"It's good to finally meet you, Adam," her dad said, his voice full of warmth.

"You too sir" i said, my voice slighly shaking

"No need for that sir stuff, call me John" he said

"And call me Susan"

"Alright John and Susan I'm Adam" I said. I think Layla sensed my nervousness because she took my hand in hers.

"Adam" i heard. We all turned around and it was my dad. Shit I totally forgot about him.

"Dad, i'm so sorry for leaving you there I had-"

"Who are these people?" my dad asked

"Well this is Layla my girlfriend" i said

"Hello sir" she said sticking out her hand. He just stared at her and for a moment I thought he wouldn't shake her hand but then.

"Charlie" he said finally shaking her hand. "And you must be her parents"

"Yes ,I'm Susan Willems" her mom said, shaking my dad's hand.

"And I am John Willems, it's nice to meet you"

Me and Layla slowly walked away.

And this was the start of something unforgetable.
