Chapter78 Lennon paused, not answering right away.
Mariela smirked at herself.
She fel silly for even bringing up that question.
Lauryn was the sister he had grown up with, while she was just a woman his family had arranged for him. He hadnât seen her in three years and didnât feel any deep connection to her.
Anyone could guess whom Lennon would choose.
Yet, Lennon quickly replied firmly, I believe you.â
Mariela was shocked, She barely believed what she heard.
Lennon chose to trust her.
What about Lauryn?
Mariela saw Laurynâs face go pale.
âLenny, sheâs lying! Why do you trust her mo more than me?â
âEnough.â Lennon said, his eyes ity.âEver since you first met Marie, youâve been nothing but hostile towards her. When you accused her of kicking the horse without even witnessing it I knew you were lying.â
Lennonâs expression grew stern. âMarie isnât that kind of person. I know her well enough. You yourself said she doesnât hold any grudges against you, so what reason would she have to hurt you?â
Mariela watched Lennon silently.
Her feelings were mixed.
Why did Lennon choose her so firmly? Why did he believe her without question?
She expected Lennon to pick Lauryn easily over her.
Marielaâs nose tingled, and her eyes teared up.
Raze toward Lauryn WEB frosty.âLauryn, donât forget, your last marme 15 Schneider, not Stark.â
She felt an overwhelming sense of emotion.
Lennonâs He subtly hinted to Lauryn that she wasnât a true Stark and shouldnât be so audacious in leveraging her status as the adopted daughter of the Stark family.
Laurynâs already pale face turned even more ashen.
Her lips quivered, and tears flowed She tried to speak but couldnât.
âYou should get some rest. Iâm leaving now,â Lennon said, then turned and walked away.
Mariela stood by the bed, coldly watching the crying Lauryn, and sighed, âWhy are you doing this to yourself?â
Outside the hospital, in the open parking lot Lennon walked beside Mariela, his eyes showing regret âMarie, Iâm sorry.â
Mariela koked at him.âWhy are you apologizing?â
âItâs our familyâs fault for not raising Lauryn well, Lennon sighed. âI donât understand why she slandered you. Iâll investigate this Mariela chuckled softly, âNo need. I know why.â
