âYou were willing to be mine before Abbie,â I tell her.
âThat was before I discovered my mate, and youâre a Lycan it would never work,â
âI would change you, it would, but you need to reject Kade and come home with me.â
âI canât, heâ¦he⦠He loves me,â
âBut do you love him? Think about Abbie. If he wasnât your mate, and you are locked up here, would you stay or come back with me?â
âThatâs not fair,â she says.
âAnswer me,â
âThat would be different,â she looks around at the place.
âYou live in a castle. Who would choose this place over that?â she finally says.
âFine, then if he wasnât your mate, who would you choose, him or me,â
âBut he is my mate!â
âExactly, the mate bond tells you to love him, to stay with him it is not a d**n choice, but if you had one,â
she bites her lip.
âI donât know! I⦠please you have to leave, youâre confusing me, stop. It all needs to stop,â
âCome back with me, even for a little while, just come back, come see Ivy, you wanted to see Ivy, right?â I begged.
âItâs unsafe; I have to stay here; Kade will take me to see her. He promised he would,â
âIâm f*****g Lycan. What safer place is there to be then by my side?â I curse while shaking my head and pinching the bridge of my nose in frustration.
âHeâs my mate,â she says though even she looked confused at what she wanted. And that stupid marking on her neck I wish I could remove so she could think clearly.
I move toward her, and she backs up, her bum hitting the kitchen sink. âCome back with me,â
âI canât, Gannon,â
âBut you want to, donât you,â I ask her, and she looks away.
âI canât leave my mate. It would hurt him if I did,â
âWhat about the pain he causes you?â
âAh, not this again, he wouldnât do that; Iâm his mate,â she says, trying to push past me.
âHe has multiple wives, Abbie. Why do you think he keeps you out here?â
âYouâre lying, I already asked him, and he said you are just jealous,â
âOf course, I am jealous, but I wouldnât f*****g lie to you,â I tell her.
âYou need to leave,â she says, but I grab her pushing myself against her and gripping her neck. My lips crashed against her plump ones, and she tried to shove me away when my tongue forced its way between her lips.
Abbie moaned as my tongue invaded her mouth her attempts to shove me off stopped before her hands ran up my chest, and she kissed me back hungrily. I grip her thighs, placing her on the edge of the sink and pressing between her legs when she gasps, pulling away from me.
âWhy would you do that?â she growled.
âStill think a mate canât cheat on a mate?â I asked her. She shakes her head.
âNo, itâs because your Lycan, you did something,â
âI didnât make you kiss me back, Abbie,â
âShe-wolves are attracted to men of dominance, itsâ¦its⦠itâs in our DNA. You need to leave,â she says, shoving me away feebly. She was much too weak to move me.
âAbbie, he is no good for you,â
âHe is my mate; he is who I am destined to be with him,â she sobs before pointing at me.
âYou made me; I wouldnât have if you.â she shakes her head.
âItâs okay to love someone else, Abbie,â
âI donât; I love my mate, Iâ¦â she looks around frantically, and her body trembles.
âReally because back home, you seemed to like me too,â
âYes before I found my mate,â
âYou still do!â I tell her.
âOf course I do, Gannon; youâre Lycan my blood it makes,â
âDoesnât make you love someone,â I tell her.
Seek us out, yes, but I canât make her love me. It was in their DNA that she-wolves sought out dominant males for safety, but that didnât mean they loved them. I know she loves me too, or she wouldnât have always sought me out or let me follow her around like a d**n lost puppy. Damian even offered to tell me to back off. Still, she refused, saying she liked me being around her and she never reacted to Damian like this, and he was of higher rank than me, she even asked to be put in my quarters, and we all agreed before Kade came into the picture.
âYou need to leave; I want you to leave, please,â
âCome back with me,â
âNo! Just go. You canât force me. Itâs against the law. I may be stupid, but I know that much,â she says, looking away.
âYou are not stupid, misguided, yes, but not stupid, Abbie, donât say that,â I tell her.
âLeave; I have asked you too, so please, Gannon, donât make this harder than it has to be,â she says, and l sigh. I pull my phone from my pocket and glance at the time. I was only granted an hour here, and I was already 15 minutes over.
âWhen you change your mind, you ring me; I donât care what time it is; I will come for you. Do you still know my number?â she nods.
âMy number Abbie,â she sighs and rattles it off, knowing it by heart. I kiss her forehead before nodding.
âAnswer my calls,â she nods.
âI will okay, just leave,â she says, and I chew my lip before turning and walking out the door. When I got in the car, I started the engine and looked up to find her standing on the porch watching me; she waved before looking away, and I turned the car around before leaving. When I drive over the boundary, Damian rings.
âWhat?â
âAre you on your way back with her,â
âShe wouldnât come. There is no food in that place. It is a s**t hole,â
âShe has to come willingly. You canât take her,â
âItâs f*****g b******t; I should command her,â I tell him.
âYou do, and she will always question whether or not she made the right choice,â Damian tries to reason.
I growl, and eventually, he hangs up when I come to the town I stopped in. I nearly drove through before I cursed and pulled into the grocery store. I filled a trolley with different foods before driving back, unable to get the thought of her eating bird eggs and whatever she could find in the forest out of my head.
Pulling up, I quickly unloaded them. I could see her asleep on the fold-out bed through the murky tiny window that had a crack in it. I place the groceries on the porch before knocking and walking away, unable to trust myself not to drag her out kicking and screaming. I turn the car around, tearing out of the driveway, but catch a glimpse of her. She glanced down, staring at the groceries before looking back at my retreating vehicle.
I would be in so much s**t for going back and being late, but I couldnât leave her with no food, and Damian would lose his mind. Stuck in my thoughts, I knew Kyson wouldnât break a law that would put the Lycan Kingdom at more risk of war, but maybe he would for Ivy? If she knew, I had no doubt she would go off about Abbie living like that if she knew what Kade was doing behind Abbieâs back. I would find a way to tell her; I would accept the backlash from the king when she does.
