19. Grandpaâs Protection
The chatters coming from the dining room stopped. Heidi halted in her footsteps, her eyes snapping to her uncle who was rushing down the stairs.
With his phone in his hands, the man looked frantic.
âAha!â He sighted Heidi and his expression turned mad. âThank goodness, the culprit has arrived. Heidi, tell me what is the meaning of this.â
He flashed his phoneâs screen in front of her. âWerenât you so full of yourself that you can manage AG Group in the future? Is your actual goal to take it down!?â
âDidnât I warn you to leave Heidi alone? Why do you bully this little girl, Harold?â Grandpa Jeffrey left his chair, his cold eyes fixed on his first son.
âFather, I donât see why I should bully Heidi. You have to see what she did.â
âWhat did she do?â
Heidiâs uncle dashed forward and showed him the phoneâs screen. âThe latest and trending topic on every news channel is the announcement of GK Group severing its ties with AG Group. Whose doing do you think this is?â
âAh! What have you done, Heidi?â
Lilian put on a shocked look and covered her mouth.
âHeidi, I heard that you kicked out GlamGrove Agency from StriveStyle Co. Isnât it common knowledge that GlamGrove Agency belongs to GK Group? Did you really take on this job to save the family or to take revenge on your Ex-husband?â
It was Beatrice, her uncleâs wife, who spoke.
âAha! Youâre in a big soup, Heidi!â Aiden threw his head back and laughed. âThe last company youâd ever wanna trifle with is GK Group. Grandpa, AG Groupâs dead meat-â
âShut up! Scoundrel!â Grandpa Jeffrey kicked him with his cane. âIs this what youâre all fussing about, interrupting my dinner?â
âGrandpa, donât you know the enormity of the problem?â Lilian exclaimed.
âWe the Olsens are not chickens. Let Heidi kick that scumbag to the curb. He dared to mistreat my granddaughter, who said AG Group wonât stand without thein?â
Heidi blinked.
Could someone tell her what was going on?
While her uncleâs family fumed, her parents silently ate their food as if the drama wasnât happening right in front of them.
Natalie looked lost in her own world with the huge earpod on her ears.
âIf you want to say anything else, wait until weâre done eating! Donât disrupt this familyâs dinner because of something insignificant.â
Grandpa Jeffreyâs words commanded silence and after that, no one said a word or even dared to make a sound.
âHa! Heidi, you really are something.â Lilian followed her down the hallway while Heidi was heading to her room after dinner.
âSay what you want.â Heidi turned around, giving her an impatient look.
âDonât be full of yourself.â Lilian smirked. âGrandpa canât protect you everywhere. Youâre not up to this task, just give up already.â
âBelieve me, I can survive without Grandpaâs protection.â Heidi gave her a sweet smile. âWhere was Grandpa during the three years I was away from home? Was Grandpa at the company today when you sent that crazy lady to threaten me?â
âYou-â Lilian pointed a shaking finger at her. âHow did you know?â
âThe same way I know that you and Aiden are planning to strip me of my position at StriveStyle Co. You were shameless enough to collude with those board of directors, werenât you?â
âDamnit, Heidi. We were all living happily before you came back. Just go back to your Ex-husband and beg him to take you back. Heâs rich enough to give you whatever you want, you donât have to snatch our belongings.â
âMaybe you should beg me to rehire you at StriveStyle Co. Youâre not facing a lawsuit now because youâre a family member. Donât think I canât take any actions against you.â
âIn your dreams!â Lilian screamed. â The day I beg you will be the day Iâll cease bearing the Olsens surname. Youâre dreaming too far, Heidi.â
âHehe, Iâll be patient enough to wait for your wedding day.â
âArgh!â Lilian groaned and gave Heidi a hard glare before leaving.
Sheâd rather put her brain cells to use by conjuring up plans to make Heidi regret.
Very soon, Heidi would wish she never came back!
