32. Employees Going Missing
At Carlsonâs Manor, meanwhile.
A text notification popped on Tracyâs phone. Looking inside it, the glass of juice in her hand fell to the ground and shattered.
âDid you see the photo?â Stella called her immediately. âWhat is your job, Tracy? Why are you neglecting your duties?â
âItâs not like that, Stella, I- I meanâ¦â Tracy was greatly dumbfounded by that picture, she didnât know which words to say.
Her vision clouded with anger, and after Stellaâs last words, she gripped the phone until the screen cracked.
Staring at the photo again, her eyes turned crimson with jealousy.
âYou do like to fool around donât you, Heidi?â Tracyâs eyes glinted, her lips curling into a sinister smile. âSince you love trouble that much, why donât I give you what you want?â
She pressed into the almost- unrecognizable phone, stopping at a particular contact.
âIt has been long, Todd. Erm, donât you have a fetish for married women?â
âYou told me youâre single. Did you get married?â From the other end, a voice filled with drunkenness grumbled through the phone.
âHehe, no. Itâs not about me. I just happen to have a desperate friend whose husband isnât performing well. I think youâll like her.â
As Heidi walked into StriveStyle Co. the next morningâ¦
The first thing that greeted her was a commotion coming from the office area.
âI need my husband! You have to bring him out! The last time he left home, he told me he was coming here!â
A hysterical woman was making a scene in the wide area.
The employees were gathered around, while the security pulled her out.
âYouâre all a bunch of criminals! Where are you hiding him? My husband has been troubled for the past few weeks, then he disappeared all of a sudden. If you donât make him return home, I am going to sue this company!â
While the womanâs yells died down as the security men led her to the elevator, Isla hurried towards Heidi.
âMs. Olsen, youâre here.â Isla looked as if sheâd found a life-saver.
There was exhaustion in her eyes, and her shoulders trembled slightly.
âTell me what happened.â Heidi resumed walking to her office, and Isla followed.
âThe disappearance of the Finance Departmentâs Manager isnât a simple matter. The woman right now is his wife. I think thereâs trouble on the ground. If news gets out that the employees have started to go missing
Heidi sat on her chair, rubbing her throbbing temples.
She picked up her phone and dialed Aiden. âNinety percent of your illegal corporations were done at the Finance Department. The Manager is missing, tell me his whereabouts.â
âHow should I know his whereabouts!?â Aiden yelled, making Heidi distance the phone from her ears a bit.
âDamnit! Heidi, Youâve already kicked me out of the company, what else do you want? Kicking me to the police!?â
âI only asked you a simple question.â
âWell, I donât know!â Aiden fired back.
âHa! Are you a detective now, taking up so many roles? What happened to the CEO of StriveStyle Co.â
Aiden continued with his provocation. â Remember you only have a limited time. Youâre so full of yourself that you think you can revive that dead company in a month! Youâre only living in a bubble, Heidi. How about you save yourself the humiliation and kindly back out of the bet now!?â
Beep! Beep!
Heidi hung up, fearing Aidenâs loud voice would take the whole building down.
Whether he had a hand in it or not, her next step wasnât going to be favorable to anyone.
âInform the security department to involve the police.â
âYes, Ms. Olsen.â Isla nodded, noting it down on her tablet.
âMs. Olsen, I have contacted the models as you assigned. A lot of them turned the offer down, but weâre lucky to snag three models.â
âThatâs good.â Heidi took the report, going through the modelsâ bio, while Isla explained the rest.
âI have booked an appointment with them. Among the models, one is an emerging model; sheâs doing well currently and garnering the attention of fans. The other two are just newbies, but they have a promising future.â
âGood job, Isla. We can meet them now.â
âUhm, Ms. Olsen, thereâs a problem.â
