44. Not A Good Sign
âLucas Harrison, let me go!â Heidi glowered, her voice low and vengeful.
âIn your dreams.â
Footsteps came from the left, and Tracy emerged from Lucasâs room. Tracy stilled for some seconds before rushing towards the couple.
âHeidi, itâs you again?â Tracy stepped between Heidi and Lucas, widening her eyes with fear. âWhat brought you here? Are you here to cause trouble?â
The insecurities in Tracyâs eyes didnât miss Heidiâs scrutiny.
Shaking her head, her lips curled into a disdainful smile. âIâm not here for trouble, but someone obviously is. Why donât you reign him in, Tracy? He claims youâre the only woman in his heart, but heâs chasing after other women and messing around.â
Tracy looked from the stoic man to Heidi. She shook her head in disbelief. â No, Heidi. I know what youâre trying to do. You will never succeed in driving a wedge between me and Lucas. I donât believe you.â
âThatâs your business.â Rolling her eyes, Heidi threw Lucas a last glare and left.
Tracyâs fingers curled into fists, watching Heidiâs retreating figure.
She wasnât a child.
Lucas Harrison didnât deny Heidiâs accusation. Heidiâs lips were red and swollen slightly, and her face was flushed too.
What was happening?
âWhat exactly happened?â
At another end of the mansion, Stella was bawling her eyes out, battling the humiliation.
âI know Dad doesnât like me. What I didnât know was that he would shame us in public.â
âStop thinking about it, Stella. It has already happened,â Blake comforted her, his mind still troubled at the sudden turn of events.
âI know why⦠Dad thinks Iâm too young for you. Am I that young, Honey? Why did those people call me a gold digger when Iâve never even taken a penny from you before?â
âTheyâre entitled to their opinions. Donât let it bother you.â
âStill, Honey, I canât handle it. If those people keep looking down on me, what will happen in the future when we have our own child?â
At the mention of a child, Blakeâs expression shifted slightly.
So he changed the topic, âDidnât I give the jewelry to you? How did it end up fake and the original was with Heidi? Did the bodyguards make a mistake?â
Stella was dazed for a few seconds, a realization sipping in.
Then she let out a bitter laugh. âThe bodyguards didnât make any mistake. Itâs Lucasâs fault. He tricked me and swapped the necklace for Heidi.â
While she was getting ready for the party, Lucas Harrison, who would never even look at her, suddenly came inside her room.
The menacing look in his eyes didnât give her a chance to speak. Lucas left shortly, baffling Stella. She should have realized early that the jewelry had been swapped.
âHoney, do you think he knows? If heâs taking Heidiâs back, it means he knows what happened.â
Blake furrowed his brows. âEven if he knows, he canât do anything. Youâre his stepmother.â
Stella cursed inside, her eyes dimming.
Wasnât shaming her enough dealing with her?
Lucas could just confront her about the
jewelry, but he used a sly approach in order to make her a laughingstock.
âHoney, you see what your son is turning into. Heâs no different from Dad, arenât his actions familiar? If you donât take any action, Iâm afraid we might lose him to Dad and that filthy girl.â
Blake Harrison nodded thoughtfully. Because of her, Dad shamed us tonight. Lucas didnât consider your position before swapping the jewelry, all because of her. Heidi has made a mistake by thinking she can contend with us.â
Sensing Blake Harrisonâs rage, Stellaâs lips curled slightly.
âHoney, You know how much I love your son and how much I want this family to be complete. A girl like Heidi doesnât belong here. We must protect Lucas from her treachery. And if we donât take action now, things might get too late. Heidi and Dad are already corrupting your son, itâs not a good sign.â
Blake got up from the bed and paced inside the room for a while.
Then he brought out his phone and dialed a number. âDonât let her leave this mansion tonight. Once the party is over, bring her to me.â
