49. Heidi Is Missing
At The Olsens Mansion.
While the family ate dinner, Grandpa Jeffery couldnât touch his food. His face wrinkled with worry and this nagging feeling inside his chest wouldnât go away.
âWhy hasnât Heidi returned yet?â Grandpa Jeffery glanced at the clock. â She doesnât usually stay outside this late.â
âWho knows? Maybe sheâs wandered off somewhere, and-â
Grandpa Jeffery shut Lilian up with a glare. Bringing out his phone, he dialed a number, âWhere is Heidi, John? Why havenât you guys returned yet?â
âUhm, Master.â As if he had been lurking outside, John immediately walked in and appeared before everyone.
âYou! Youâre already back?â Grandpa Jeffery frowned. âWhere is Heidi?â
âErm, Master⦠The Young Missâ¦â
âSpeak properly!â Grandpa Jeffery snapped.
John hung his head and explained with guilt. âI- I waited for a long time outside the company, but she didnât come out. When I went inside, her assistant told me she left in the morning and hadnât returned since then.â
âWhere were you when she left in the morning? Didnât I ask you to keep an eye on Heidi?â
âPlease forgive me, Master.â
âIf Heidi doesnât return safe and sound, youâll lose your job.â
After sending the driver away, Grandpa Jeffrey got up to his feet and walked back and forth.
âGrandpa, I heard Heidi is still chasing after her Ex-husband. Sheâs probably following him around, throwing herself at him.â
âLilian, do you want me to teach you a lesson?â Grandpa Jeffery gave her a pointed look. âSpeak any bad words about Heidi again, and Iâll send you to jail for having illegal collaborations at the company.â
âDad, Lilianâs only telling the truth,â Beatrice murmured. âDo you all believe that Heidi is over her Ex-husband? I donât think she is done shaming this family yet.â
âIsnât looting money from the familyâs company considered a shameless act too?â Regina murmured. âClearly, Lilian and Aiden are no better.â
Beatrice rolled her eyes. âWell, that definitely isnât worse than raising a daughter who only knows how to cause trouble, Regina.â
âEveryone, be quiet!â Grandpa Jeffery hollered, glaring at both women. He grabbed his phone and dialed Heidiâs number, but only an electronic voice came from the other end.
âHeidiâs number is not reachable. Letâs see if sheâs hanging out with her silly cousin, Zach, again.â
After saying that, he dialed Zach who answered at the first ring.
âGrandpa, your favorite boy is busy. I canât talk on the phone now, shoot me a message if itâs important-â
âShut up, scoundrel!â Grandpa Jeffery berated. âHave you seen Heidi?â
âNo, Grandpa? Why did you ask?â From the other end, Zachâs brows furrowed.
Grandpa Jeffrey replied, âHeidi doesnât hang out with many people apart from you. Are you sure sheâs not in your place? You didnât leave her stranded at a bar, right?â
âCome on, Grandpa. Whatâs wrong? Do you mean Heidi is missing?â Zachâs whining voice was filled with anxiousness.
Grandpa Jeffrey blinked. âWait, Heidi is missing?â
A realization sank in and the phone dropped from his hand.
âGrandpa.â
âGrandpa, are you still there?â
From the other end, Zach called out constantly. Hearing no reply from Grandpa Jeffrey, he scrambled off his bed, pushing the lady aside.
She dropped on the floor with a plop and her face was masked with shock. â Zach, whatâs wrong?â
âEmergency.â Slipping on his clothes, Zach rushed towards the door, but she blocked him.
âCome on, Zach. Is that thing so important to interrupt our precious moment?â
âDamnit! Get out.â Zach pushed her aside, grabbed his car keys, and hurried down to the parking lot.
He jumped inside his car and raced out of his Villa, heading downtown.
At the same time his car stopped at GK Group, a familiar-looking car was also driving out of it.
Zachâs car came to a screeching halt in front of the car, blocking it from driving forward.
âAre you tired of living?â Lucas left his car, wondering who the reckless driver was.
On seeing Zach Olsen, his expression darkened.
âMaybe you are tired of living, Lucas Harrison. What did you do to Heidi?â Zach jumped out of his car and didnât waste time to grab his collar.
âDamnit, I only give you two seconds. Wherever youâre hiding her, youâd better bring her out.â
âUnhand me this instant.â Lucas clenched his fists.
âHa! You wish!â
