"Ok guys you have 10 seconds left on the clock" coach jones said. "Malia your in xó your out." "AJ ON THREE" I shouted. "ONE, TWO, THREE AJ" the whole team shouted. "Goodluck out there do it for AJ " Xó said. "For AJ" I said with tears in my eyes
We did our hand shake and i got on the court. The clock started counting down. My heart pounding with each dribble down the court. I glanced at the clock 5 seconds left.
I signal for a screen JJ sets the screen. I go off the screen and go for a layup. "Oooooooo" the crowd said as I hit the floor. BZZZZZZ the shot clock went off.
"AAAAAAAAH SHITT" I screamed as my bone snapped. The whole team rushes over while Princeton celebrates.
Number 28 looks back and smirks. " ahhh it hurts so bad" I cried. "SOMEONE CALL 911" Xó shouts.
I shoot up out of my sleep panting.
"Noo not again." I get up and go down stairs for some water.
" what are you doing up" Mary (Malia's mom) asks.
I jumped at the sound of her voice "woah you scared me, I couldn't sleep."
"Same dream u been having." My mom says knowingly.
" yea it's like it's chasing after me and what ever I do it won't go away." I sigh "anyway goodnight mom imma go back to bed" I yawn.
"Goodnight honey" my mom walks off back to her room and closes the door. I walk up stairs and go to bed.
Next morning I wake up and get ready for school. I brush my teeth, hop in the shower and do my face routine. I get out and get dressed for the day

I grab my backpack and bag for my dorm and go down stairs for breakfast.
"Good morninggg." I sang as i grab bacon
"Good morning Malia" ivory (her sister) says.
"Where's dad" i question my mom.
" oh he's at work he had to go in early for some project" her mom responds.
" oh well me and ivory are off to school." "You ready" I ask ivory.
"Yup let's go, bye mom" ivory says excitedly.
"Bye kids be safe love you Guys." We all hug and are off to school. I first drop off ivory and then head to school. I get through my first 2 classes then my lunch break approaches.
I am walking to my car when my phone starts vibrating in my pocket. I reach for it kinda fumbling with it since I can only use one hand.
"Hello?" I say picking up the phone.
"Hello is this Malia baker?" The unknown voice over the phone answers.
"Uh yea it is how can I help you?" I ask confused.
" I would like to inform you that your mom has sadly passed away from a fatal car accident, I am so sorry." The unknown voice says.
I freeze in place my breath getting caught in her throat. My breathing becoming rigid.
" nooo this can't be are you sure" my breathing becoming heavier, my eyes brim with tears.
"Check again your lying this can't be I just saw her."
" I'm sorry ms baker there's nothing I can do" they responded.
I hang up and can barely make it to my car before I break down crying.
"Nooo no no no noo momma pleaseee."
I break down. I drive hurriedly and recklessly to my dorm almost crashing on my way there.
I open my door get inside and closed the door behind me. I get under my blanket and spend the rest of the night crying my eyes out.
