Anyways, truly in reddit and more apps I have seen people disagreeing with the Xicheng ship.
But unlike them I'm obsessed with this ship. Let me tell you how.
So basically both of them are practically parentless. Both their clans were set to fire and they both became Clan Leaders at an early stage of their life. They both had great loses and I feel that they would understand each other more than anything.
Not that I'm blaming Wei Wuxian but I mean you don't leave your own shixiong behind who you promised to stand next to and grew up with, just for some strangers. Whose Clan was also responsible for the burning for your shixiong's and your Clan and family. I mean Jiang Cheng became an orphan because of it.
I personally cannot imagine myself at Wei Wuxian's place because I wouldn't know what decision to make. He really has a pure kind heart.
Uh hum. Back to the topic. So, we all understand that Jiang Cheng suffered immensely and Lan Xichen did as well especially after being backstabbed by his sworn brothers for more than 13 years.
Imagine you continuously defend someone you are really close (not actually) thinking they are innocent and they don't mean bad. And a lot of horrible and tragic things happen during those years when you were busy defending that person. But it actually turns out that the one who was causing all the tragedy was the person you had been defending for so long.
And you are left devastated, knowing you were only a kind fool who was very easy and got manipulated. Somehow, you were connected to the crimes since you defended them. And you also feel the guilt growing up inside you. I'm probably sure that is how they feel.
In my opinion, in the original novel they could have gotten connected through many ways. That is only if mxtx tried.
I personally agree to those who say that xicheng makes more sense that Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng. Like it may make sense in untamed.
But brother look, I'm probably sure that in the ORIGINAL novel Jiang Cheng might have some gratitude for Wen Qing but he hated her somehow. In fact, love is the farthest thing they could have. And on top of everything Jiang Cheng's standard is high as the sky. Untouchable. I don't hate Wen Qing but she isn't much.
And here, Lan Xichen fits Jiang Cheng's standard completely except the fact that he is a man.
I don't know why but I also feel that Lan Xichen is really likely to fall for Jiang Cheng easily after a speech or a situation. (Thoughts after reading yearning for miles by murahi)
I don't know but I love them.

This fic is a massive must : Yearning for miles. Only on ao3.
Let me explain a little about it so the two martial brothers find a token in Gusu (student days). Actually, our naughty Wei Wuxian was the one who found it. But the three including Nie Huaisang watch the future (tid - bids, time to time). Not at once but you know. And they discover many things and prevent many. Though as others fics not much changes here but also a lot changes. They prevent Meng Yao from becoming what he is now. And they take in Sisi as well. Ah I forgot this fic consists of Lan Qiren x Sisi. Which is the cutest actually. A well known, good mannered cultivation master from a very huge clan who is disciplined as hell falls in love with a former prostitute who is now a hand maiden for Jiang clan. Btw, the three siblings have a really good connection and relationship with her and she calls them A-xian, A-cheng and A-li. Anyways, the Jiang parents' relationship is fixed completely and they even have another child making the three siblings have another little sister. And Madam yu accepts and cares for Wei Ying. Jiang Cheng loses one of his arm but do not lose interest because of it as in my knowledge it was the greatest heroic thing. He wanted to protect Wei Wuxian so much to the extent of not caring about his arm.
He beats the shit out of Wen Chao. Tbh I loved it. And Wei Wuxian still loses his golden core not for Jiang Cheng but for Madam yu this time. And they all appreciate that. Except, the fact that the Jiangs were the only one who knew it. Don't imagine them as selfish though cause it was the right decision. But it will be revealed later.
Cough cough. So Wen Qing is save not only by Wei Wuxian but Jiang Cheng, Lan Xichen maybe Lan Wangji I forgot and Nie Mingjue. I love Wen Qing and Nie Mingjue and their gradually growing love. Wen Ning doesn't die in this fic as they arrive in time to save him as well. And umm their is another ship which is Wen Ning x Xue Yang. They are incredibly cute. Xue Yang is in deep love with his Ning gege and he joins YunmengJiang Clan when he was young, no crime records yet. He meets Cheng first. He calls him a hothead. Wen Ning like always is a cinnamon roll who is also a babysitter. Jin Zixuan awfully realises his mistakes and loves Jiang Yanli with his whole. Yanli like always is a stronge minded woman. She is very independent here. Still the cutest as ever. And oh goodness the slow burn between Wangxian. The slow realisation of love and thud ( dramatically falls to the ground) their love is everything.
Xicheng is my favourite in this fic. And also the fic where I started to simp over them. Like Lan Xichen is head over heels for his beloved Jiang Cheng. And Jiang Cheng doesn't treat Lan Xichen bad and he is equally in love which took some time to realise but it was so sweet and cute when he did. Lan Xichen does a drunk confession on Yanli's engagement in a room where only him and Jiang Cheng were present in. And four-fives days later Madam yu almost gets Cheng engaged but he rejects the most beautiful women of their youth because of his beloved. It took some days for Cheng to accept Xichen. Two chapters at most. While Meng Yao is ready to give up everything for Nie Huaisang who gave him everything. He even says that NIE HUAISANG is his priority which is actually true. Meng Yao's name remains as it is (Meng Yao). They have a major misunderstanding which is later fixed. Ah, their is also a character development for Sushi. Hahha. A character development for Jin Zixun ( Zixuan's cousin) who sees Mo Xuanyu's mother as a mother figure. Also Jin Zixuan and Meng Yao develope a good brothers relationship. And Jin Zixuan teases Meng Yao about Nie Huaisang. Nie Huaisang gets his fan made into a weapon by Wei Wuxian, he becomes strong and gets the title Wind master. Jiang Cheng, Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang become sworn brothers. They are legendary in people's eyes. Some look down on them because Wei Wuxian is a demonic cultivator. A lot of critism but they will get their chin chipped. Anyways, there is also a lesbian ship, Madam Jin x Mo Xuanyu's mother. Pure love darling. Madam yu accepts everyone, she rarely complains here. And this fic has the happiest ending of all. And the most important, Lan Sizhui will definitely be Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's son again.
I highly recommend this one. Do not miss out on this. It has really unexpected ships but dang it is the best fic I've ever read. I've read it almost 30 times. No joke.
