Chapter 14 In the evening, David walked into the Golden Leaf Hotel with his head high.
âHello, Mr. Lidell!â
âHello, Mr. Lidell!â
Four beautiful attendants at the door greeted Lidell with admiration in their eyes.
The news about David becoming their boss had spread throughout the hotel. Pearl had started handling the affairs of a general manager and the previous general manager Sean had already left.
After David entered the hall, the four attendants started discussing among themselves.
âMr. Lidell is so young and handsome!â
âYes! Heâs so handsome and rich! Heâs the man of my dreams that Iâve been waiting for!â
âMr. Lidell wonât fall for you!â
âHow do you know? What if Iâm his cup of tea?â
âTch, Mr. Lidellâs cup of tea is Ms. Warner.â
âDonât you know that youâll get bored eating the same food? If Mr. Lidell wants a change of taste, then our time will come.â
David did not hear the discussion behind him. After he walked into the lobby, Pearl came to him.
âMiss Pearl, why are you still here? Didnât I promote you to the general manager? Did you not go to the handover?â David asked curiously.
âMr. Lidell, Iâve taken all the affairs of the general manager. I am here to greet you. Also, this is your driverâs license.â
Pearl handed David a small booklet.
âThanks, Miss Pearl. You should get on with your job. Iâll leave after Iâm finished. Right, may I know if your friend and her husband are free? I want to buy them a meal to thank them.â
âAlright, Iâll ask them. Iâm a little busy now and I donât know a lot of things. I wonât accompany you then, M. r. Lidell.â
Pearl asked a receptionist from the front desk to take David to dinner before leaving.
âMr. Lidell, please come with me,â the receptionist said respectfully to him.
âI know the way. You donât need to take me.â
âMr. Lidell, we changed your room today, so just let me lead the way,â the receptionist said.
âA new room? Why?â David asked.
âMr. Lidell, you were the VIP yesterday so you were using Private Room 3, but youâre the chairman now and the chairman eats in Private Room 1,â the receptionist explained.
âAlright! Lead the way.â David did not quibble over this anymore.
After dinner, David drove around River City. Even though it was almost dark, River City was a city that never slept. A lot of shops would close at 12 but David still did not find the sports car he liked. After he asked around, he found out that the limited edition sportâs cars would be sold out the moment they were released. So, they would not end up in dealerships. They were only available in some high-end dealerships and the price would be marked up.
After David thought about it, he figured that only person who would have connections about this was the e x-boss of Golden Leaf Hotel, Hugh.
So, he gave Hugh a call.
Hugh picked up the call very quickly.
âDave, youâre already in Lake City?â Hughâs voice could be heard through the phone.
âHugh, Iâm still in River City. However, I need your help with something. I want to buy a limited-edition sports car. Do you have any connections for that?â David asked.
âYou like collecting limited edition sportâs cars too, Dave?â
âHugh, which man doesnât like cars?â
âHaha. Youâre right. Youâre asking the right person. I just opened a dealership with my friends and we specialize in selling second-hand cars.â
Hugh did indeed open a dealership with his friends, but his dealership only sold high-end cars and they would not even look at cars that were below ten million.
âThatâs great. Can you help me check for some that are suitable for me?â
âDave, I have a limited-edition Bugatti Veyron that was released 3 years ago. There are only 8 in the world and the market price back then was 60 million. However, since itâs limited, the price has hiked a little and itâs around 80 million now. What do you think?â
âAlright, do you have any photos? Can you send me some so I can check it out?â
âOkay, Iâll send them to you later. I think it suits you very well. If you drive this car into SRU, youâll definitely look cool as hell.â
âHaha! Hugh, you know me so well. Iâll transfer the money to you now.â
âAre you coming to Lake City to get it, or do you want me to send it to you?â
âIâll go get it on Labor Day. I have some business in Lake City during Labor Day anyway.â David said.
He was going to visit his cousin Lily on Labor Day. While he was at it, he would let her experience the upper-class lifestyle. He could not explain so many things in detail over the phone.
David immediately transferred 80 million to Hugh because right now, money was just a number to him.
