CHAPTER 17

THE PSYCHOPATH

No one's POV

"In my six decades of living in this world, I have experienced fear and hiding in the dark. Not anymore. If in the past, everyone and governments in other countries feared the former Red Bull, now, this person calling himself GOD'S EMISSARY should not be feared, and I will never fear him. If you're watching this SONA, no matter where you go in the world, I will find you, we will all find you," declared the President of the Philippines in a SONA.

The room was filled with people, all focused on their laptops or cameras, recording or writing down everything the President said.

The air was thick with tension, a mix of anticipation and determination.

Also in that room were all the best detectives, united and discussing their plans.

The recent wave of brutal murders in the Philippines had also reached other countries, so the whole world was watching the President's decision.

The gravity of the situation was palpable; everyone knew they were standing at a crucial point in history.

After the SONA, a high-level meeting ensued, attended by the PNP, DILG, the Vice President of the Philippines, who acted as a representative for the President, and many other high-ranking officials.

It was a gathering of minds, each bringing their expertise to the table in hopes of devising a strategy to catch the killer.

It was like defending a thesis for Skyler because only she and Seyren were standing while a projector displayed images on a large whiteboard.

The atmosphere was intense, with the weight of the investigation pressing down on everyone present.

Images showed the list of victims, their photos before they died, and their corpses.

The gruesome reality of the crimes committed by the killer known as GOD'S EMISSARY was laid bare for all to see.

The detectives had to steel themselves against the horror, focusing on the task at hand.

"He's targeting famous people according to his interpretation of sins, and his next victim is aligned with the ninth commandment of God. Nine people have been victimized by the killer, and one survived, which is Miss Azara Cameron," said Skyler to the other detectives she was meeting with.

Seyren was with her because she was the only one who had encountered the killer up close.

"So far, this new detective is the only one who has gotten close and fought with the killer," Skyler said, introducing Seyren, who smiled and shook hands with everyone continuously.

There was a mix of admiration and curiosity in the room as Seyren's reputation for bravery and skill preceded her.

"You're pretty muscular for a woman. That's nice," one male detective commented.

Seyren thanked him, her composure unwavering despite the unexpected remark.

"And I was the first one he spoke to. He reached out to me, and I have a recording of our conversation." Skyler snapped her fingers, and Seyren immediately played the voice recording where Skyler spoke with the killer.

"You're so smart, Detective Avellino... Yes, I'm the psycho killer you're talking about. And you know what... I want to be called God's emissary... Don't speak too soon, Detective Avellino. You may know me, but you don't know my story. All I can say is, don't think too much about me. Let's both watch the President's SONA and listen to what he says, even though all he does is gallivant in other countries like a lazy bum." A voice altered by a voice changer echoed throughout the room.

Everyone looked at the Vice President, their expressions a mixture of shock and grim realization.

In their minds, the killer was right; their President was indeed lazy, but he still had many admirers.

The room buzzed with an undercurrent of conflicting emotions.

"If you notice, he used a voice changer because he knew we would recognize him immediately. What he forgot is that SIM cards here in the Philippines are verified. So the next time he calls, we can track his location or find out who he really is," Skyler added, her voice steady and confident.

"Why don't you just call him?" a detective asked, skepticism in his voice.

"The killer is always out of reach when I call. Believe me, I've tried," Skyler replied, her frustration evident.

"Why did he call you instead of the higher-ups? What do you have that he needs to talk to you, and he even knows you?" asked the Vice President.

Though Skyler felt offended, she chose to ignore it, focusing on the bigger picture.

"Because our team is handling the case. If others join, they might receive calls too. We need to instill in our minds that this person is not just a killer. He's a psychopath, everything is planned, and he watches our every move." Skyler spoke firmly but politely, her words resonating with the gravity of the situation.

She continued to discuss the killer, earning the trust and admiration of the other detectives.

Her meticulous approach and thorough understanding of the case were evident, and the room slowly filled with a sense of respect for her leadership.

After almost three hours of non-stop discussion, it was time to go home.

The meeting ended well, and as everyone left, Skyler felt like she had no voice left.

The exhaustion of the day weighed heavily on her, yet her mind continued to race with thoughts of the case.

Skyler felt like she had run out of water, her throat was dry and itchy.

She managed to sit at the table while Seyren was packing up the laptop and disconnecting it from the projector.

The light from the projector showed an image of a man's silhouette with a large question mark on his face, a haunting reminder of the task ahead.

"I didn't know I would reach this point of being in a room with high-ranking officials... Did you, Detective Skyler?" Seyren asked, her voice tinged with a mix of awe and fatigue.

"I've experienced this once before. But never have I been squeezed like this," Skyler replied, continuing to clear her throat.

Seyren took her water bottle, opened it, and handed it to Skyler.

"Thanks," Skyler said, drinking the water Seyren gave her.

The cool liquid provided a momentary relief from the dryness in her throat.

Seyren looked at the whiteboard and fell silent, her thoughts seemingly miles away. Skyler noticed this and also fell silent, but only for a few seconds.

"I want to catch him," Seyren said in a deep voice, her words filled with a resolute determination.

"What did you say?" Skyler asked, not hearing Seyren's words.

"I want to imprison him, I want to be the one to put him behind bars," Seyren repeated, facing Skyler.

Skyler smiled but shook her head, a mix of admiration and concern in her eyes.

"I will put him in jail. Stay out of this," Seyren shook her head at her senior detective's words, her resolve unshaken.

"Let me, please... I've dealt with a psychopath before and they're the worst. I didn't even know he was a psychopath," Skyler looked into Seyren's eyes and saw tears slowly welling up.

Skyler's forehead furrowed, her concern growing.

"You've met Red Bull before?" Skyler asked, and Seyren shook her head.

"No, but I met his partner, his assistant, and he became my stepfather."

"What are you saying?" Skyler's voice was barely above a whisper, the revelation shocking her to the core.

"I'll tell you this, Detective Skyler, no one knows this but my family. I was the child found unconscious when Red Bull confessed to his crimes, and on that same day, his assistant, my stepfather died along with his lover."

"You're Gordon Cameron's stepdaughter?" Seyren nodded, her eyes filled with a mix of pain and resolve.

"I thought that child died?" Skyler asked, the pieces of the puzzle slowly falling into place.

"Yes, I killed her and changed my name to Seyren. But I'm still that child. I just changed my background because it became a trauma for me. I witnessed my mom getting killed by a psychopath. So if we ever put this psychopath in jail..." Seyren pointed to the photo behind her, her hand trembling slightly.

"I want to be the one to put him behind bars." Seyren's tears finally fell, her emotions overwhelming her.

Skyler's heart melted and shattered at the same time. She stood up and hugged Seyren, holding her close.

"If that's what you want," Skyler whispered, her voice filled with empathy and support.

---

"Anong nagyari sa'yo? Bakit ang pula ng mukha mo? Piniga ba kayong dalawa?" Elowen asked, curious about the situation when she met her two loved ones and saw Syrah's tear-streaked face.

"She cried. Seyren, get in the back seat." Skyler ordered gently, which Seyren immediately obeyed.

The two watched as Seyren climbed into the back seat, her movements slow and heavy with emotion.

As soon as she closed the door, Skyler turned and embraced her girlfriend tightly, as if trying to lend her strength through the hug.

"Thank you, Babe," Skyler whispered softly into Elowen's ear, her voice thick with gratitude.

Elowen frowned slightly, puzzled by the sudden intensity of the moment.

She returned the hug, her arms wrapping around Skyler as she tried to decipher what was happening.

"For what?" Elowen asked, her tone laced with confusion and a hint of amusement.

"I'm not really in a position to say this, but thank you for taking care of Seyren... or should I say Syrah" Skyler said, her words causing a jolt of surprise to run through Elowen.

"You know?" Elowen asked, her eyes widening in shock.

As she glanced towards her car, she caught sight of Syrah through the window, the young girl staring back at them with a blank, almost haunted expression.

"She told me, and I'm sorry, but she asked me to be the one to bring that killer to justice. I agreed," Skyler explained, her voice steady but filled with sorrow.

She tightened her embrace around Elowen, as if seeking comfort in their closeness.

Elowen and Seyren's gazes met through the car window, locking eyes for a few intense seconds.

Elowen quickly turned her attention back to her girlfriend.

She gently moved Skyler back a bit, looking up into her eyes and cupping her cheeks with both hands.

"I understand you, I understand both of you. If that's what she wants, then let her be, but please, both of you, be careful," she said tenderly, her voice filled with concern and love.

Their eyes softened as they looked into each other's souls, sharing a moment of deep connection.

Skyler nodded, then leaned in to kiss Elowen's forehead, followed by a gentle kiss on her lips.

"You're not with your sister today?" Skyler asked, noticing the absence of her usual playful banter.

"No, she's auditioning for a voice acting role for a Disney movie," Elowen replied, a smile spreading across her face at the thought. Skyler's smile widened in response.

"So she's back in the game?" Skyler asked, clearly pleased by the news.

"Yeah, she's been going stir-crazy at home. If she can't be on camera yet, she'll at least use her voice," Elowen explained, her voice filled with pride and amusement.

Skyler nodded, understanding the drive and determination of Elowen's sister.

"Should we eat lunch somewhere before we get back to work?" Skyler suggested, her tone light and hopeful.

"Just the two of us?" Elowen asked, her eyebrows raising in curiosity. Skyler looked at her, pretending to be offended.

"Of course not. We can't leave our child like that, can we?" Skyler joked, pointing towards Seyren, who was sitting in the car, looking like she was about to fall asleep.

"Oh right, we have a child," Elowen said, laughing along with Skyler.

The shared laughter brought a moment of relief to the tense atmosphere.

"Let's go and eat somewhere. My treat, since it's payday," Skyler offered, opening the passenger seat door for Elowen with a chivalrous gesture.

"I love you so much," Elowen said, leaning in to kiss Skyler on the cheek before getting into the car.

The simple act of opening the door was a small but deeply appreciated gesture.

As they drove, Skyler and her girlfriend discussed potential restaurants, searching for the perfect spot to enjoy a meal together.

In the back seat, Seyren sat quietly, staring out the window, her thoughts far away.

She seemed lost in a sea of memories, her mind drifting back to the traumatic events of her past.

The vivid recollections of the tragedy that had shaped her life resurfaced, bringing with them a wave of sadness that she couldn't shake.

The tragedy of her life felt like an unending nightmare, and the pain lingered, even now.

The couple in the front seat noticed Seyren's unusual silence.

Normally, she was talkative and full of life, but today, she was withdrawn and quiet.

Skyler and Elowen exchanged a knowing glance, deciding not to comment on Seyren's behavior.

They understood the heavy burden she carried and respected her need for silence, offering her the quiet support she needed in this moment.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the bustling atmosphere was a sharp contrast to Seyren's subdued mood.

Skyler and Elowen quickly found a table, settling themselves with a sense of familiarity in the cozy corner.

The waiter arrived shortly after, jotting down their orders with practiced efficiency.

While waiting for their food, Seyren remained unusually silent, her gaze fixed on the street outside.

She watched passersby with a distant look, her mind clearly elsewhere.

Her eyes followed a mother and child who walked into the ice cream shop directly across the street, capturing her attention and holding it there.

Skyler, noticing Seyren's intense focus, could see the concern etched on her face.

Without hesitation, she excused herself from the table, her expression a mix of determination and care.

Elowen, curious, observed Skyler's movements and saw her girlfriend crossing the street with purpose.

Skyler entered the ice cream shop, her presence marked by a determined stride. She selected three cups of ice cream-strawberry, Oreo vanilla, and another flavor-before heading back to the restaurant.

Her return was marked by a mix of relief and triumph, as if she had successfully completed a mission.

As she re-entered, her face brightened at the sight of Elowen.

Skyler placed the cups on the table, first handing one to Seyren with a gentle smile.

"Ice cream can lift your mood, so eat this. It's strawberry because I know you like strawberry," she said warmly, sitting down beside Elowen.

Elowen looked at the ice cream with appreciation, her eyes softening.

"How about me? How did you know I like Oreo vanilla ice cream?" she asked, her tone filled with genuine curiosity.

Skyler's response was filled with confidence and a hint of playful pride.

"Because you like Oreo McFlurry, and you always complain about how the Oreo is always on top and never gets mixed up with the ice cream," she explained, clearly having paid close attention to Elowen's preferences.

Elowen's face lit up with a broad smile, touched by Skyler's thoughtfulness.

She took a spoonful of her ice cream, savoring the creamy texture and familiar flavor.

"Too bad there's no fries," Elowen remarked, her voice tinged with a touch of longing.

Skyler's laughter joined hers, a shared moment of light-heartedness between them.

"I knew you would say that. You're so predictable sometimes," Skyler teased, her eyes dancing with amusement.

She glanced over at Seyren, who had started to look more relaxed as she enjoyed her ice cream.

For a brief moment, the weight of Seyren's past seemed to lift as she joined in the simple pleasure of eating ice cream.

The warmth of the shared experience brought a sense of normalcy and comfort, even if fleeting.

As they ate, Seyren's mood lightened significantly, and she started talking more, her chatter a welcome change from the earlier silence that had hung over the table.

Skyler and Elowen found this more than pleasant after the earlier struggle with the quiet that had settled among them.

After they finished their meal, Elowen drove them back to the headquarters before heading to her own job.

The drive was quiet, and Seyren's demeanor seemed more relaxed compared to earlier.

Upon arriving at the headquarters, the two female detectives made their way directly to Skyler's office.

Skyler locked the door behind them, ensuring their discussion would remain private, and they got straight to the point.

"You'll begin your mission today, so you need to meet Anthony at the Manila Bay sidewalk. Make sure you avoid getting caught by Liam. I've heard he's been all over the place lately," Skyler instructed with a tone of seriousness. Seyren, attentive and focused, nodded as she absorbed the details.

They discussed the specifics of their illegal mission, weighing their options and making final decisions.

Once everything was settled, Seyren left the headquarters, now dressed in casual clothing. She hopped on her moped and made her way to the Manila Bay sidewalk.

---

Anthony, when it came to being a stalker, considered himself the best in the Philippines. For days, he had been shadowing Liam, and so far, he had managed to remain undetected.

Today, he was quietly taking photos of Liam, who was in the company of a well-known vlogger, Kalix Kiwatari.

Though he couldn't hear their conversation because they were in the middle of the sidewalk while Anthony kept a discreet distance, he was focused on capturing every moment.

They were at the Manila Bay sidewalk, near the iconic statue that commemorated the women of World War II.

"I need to get closer," Anthony muttered to himself, trying to position himself nearer to Liam's location.

He grinned as he began to hear their conversation clearly.

"You're a liar. You always lie," Liam accused firmly, eliciting a smile from Kalix.

Anthony started recording, thinking he might use their conversation as evidence if needed.

"Sometimes you need to be sly because if you're not, you'll get nowhere. Do me a favor, Liam. Stay out of my business," Kalix said with a dismissive wink and started to leave.

Liam stopped him, grabbing his shoulder and turning him to face him directly. Their confrontation was intense.

"What you're doing isn't business; it's deceit. If I were you, I'd admit it to your fans before it's exposed and spread by someone else," Liam warned.

"Dream on," Kalix replied before walking away. Anthony was taken aback, especially since Liam always seemed soft-spoken on camera.

"Oh, fuck it...." Liam muttered, turning away.

Anthony discreetly followed him, maintaining a safe distance to blend in with the crowd.

As he followed, Anthony received a text from Seyren, which he read with full attention. Little did he know is Liam already noticed him.

From Seyren

Where are you?

To Seyren

Manila Baywalk, Doliminate Beach

From Seyren

I'm here now. Detective Skyler sent me to assist you. I'm standing by the statue.

To Seyren

I'm tracking Liam now. We're turning onto Roxas Boulevard.

"Hello, love," Anthony's attention returned to Liam, who was now speaking on the phone.

He watched as Liam talked on the phone, seemingly waiting for a taxi.

"You're at my place? Sure, I'll come home. Yes, I love you," Liam said softly before calling a taxi.

Anthony observed Liam leaving and decided not to follow him home. After stalking Liam for days, he was confident that Liam was heading home. He knew Liam's routine and was certain of his next moves.

He understood how devoted Liam was to Azara. He was completely infatuated with her.

To Seyren

Don't leave yet. I'll come to you; I'm just grabbing some food from Burger King.

Anthony slipped his phone back into his pocket, crossed the street, and went to the nearby Burger King. He purchased food for himself and for Seyren as well.

Nearby, a red car waited, almost predatory in its stillness, as if waiting for its prey to emerge.

As Anthony exited the restaurant, he took a smiling photo and sent it to Seyren.

To Seyren

[Anthony sent a photo]

Let's eat; I'm hungry.

While crossing the street, his eyes were fixed on his phone, and he didn't notice the red car speeding towards him.

The car's horn blared loudly, and he froze in the middle of the road.

Before he could react, he was struck and thrown onto the pavement.

The impact was so severe that it seemed to erase all his senses except for his vision.

His heartbeat felt like it was slowing down, and people began to gather around him.

He saw the car that hit him continue driving away.

With only his sight functioning, he noticed every detail around him, from the shocked faces of onlookers to the clouds above that looked inviting and the birds flying freely.

He also saw someone blend into the crowd and discreetly pick up his phone that had fallen onto the sidewalk.

Their eyes met briefly, and Anthony almost recognized the person.

He tried to point at them, but his body was too weak to move. The darkness began to overtake him before he could even call out the person's name.

---

"That took forever," Seyren commented as she observed the statue of the woman.

Her brow furrowed as she noticed some commotion nearby.

Driven by curiosity, she followed the crowd of people who were running.

She didn't realize that she was heading in the opposite direction of someone running, resulting in a collision.

"Sorry!" Seyren apologized before running off again, ignoring the hoodie-clad person she bumped into.

She continued towards the source of the commotion and saw people surrounding a figure lying on the ground.

She passed a woman who was calling for an ambulance, saying someone had been run over.

Curious, Seyren pushed her way through the crowd, trying to get a better look at the person on the ground, but she couldn't see them clearly due to the pushing and shoving.

As she got closer, her actions froze in shock. When she saw Anthony's bloodied face, her eyes widened in horror.

When Seyren was accidentally jostled into the crowd gathered around Anthony, she took a deep breath and forced herself to move closer.

The chaos of the scene, with people shouting and pushing each other, seemed to blur around her.

She saw her friend lying on the pavement, his face smeared with blood.

"Anthony~" she called out, her voice trembling with fear and desperation.

Her eyes were brimming with tears that threatened to spill over.

With a determined effort, she knelt beside him, her hands shaking as she carefully lifted his head and placed it gently on her lap.

The sight of Anthony's battered face, his eyes half-closed and his breath shallow, made her stomach churn.

She stroked his hair, trying to offer some comfort, but the reality of the situation was overwhelming.

Her tears fell freely now, soaking into his hair as she whispered his name again, her voice barely audible through her sobs.

"Anthony," she whispered once more, her voice cracking with emotion.

The gravity of the moment was sinking in, and her sobs became more intense.

Around her, the crowd seemed to pulse with confusion and fear.

Some people were trying to clear space, while others were frantically calling for help.

Seyren's mind was racing, her thoughts a chaotic mess as she realized the urgency of the situation.

"Call an ambulance!! Please, call an ambulance!!!" she cried out desperately, her voice breaking as she begged those around her to take action.

Her plea was urgent, filled with a raw, emotional desperation that echoed through the crowd.

Despite her cries, the din of the crowd seemed deafening.

The realization that Anthony might not make it weighed heavily on her.

She continued to hold him, her hands gripping his shoulders, her eyes scanning the faces around her, hoping someone would respond to her desperate pleas.

"Please call an ambulance!!"

---

"Nasaan ang anak ko? Ang anak ko!!!" The elderly woman's anguished cries reverberated through the hospital corridor, her tear-streaked face a silent testament to her grief.

The woman saw Seyren's familiar features, her clothing stained with blood-a clear, though unspoken, indication of the tragedy that had unfolded.

"Mrs. Guerrero," Seyren called softly, her voice barely above a whisper, as she approached the distraught mother of Anthony.

She stood still, her eyes fixed on the older woman, who appeared to be struggling with the reality of the situation.

The elderly woman's face contorted with fear and pain.

"Ang anak ko?" she asked, her voice trembling. Seyren could stare, unable to find the words to comfort her.

The silence between them was heavy, and it seemed to physically weigh down the elderly woman, causing her to crumble to her knees.

Seyren's heart shattered at the sight of the woman's despair.

As she knelt beside her, she reached out and enveloped the older woman in a comforting embrace.

The two women held each other tightly, their shared sorrow creating a bond of empathy in the midst of their grief.

Minutes later, Skyler burst into the scene, her face a mask of panic.

Her gaze quickly fell upon Seyren, who was still kneeling and holding the elderly woman.

With a sense of urgency, Skyler bypassed them, her eyes locking onto the door where she saw the extent of Anthony's condition.

The sight was devastating. Skyler felt as though her world had been torn apart.

Her heart pounded in her chest, and tears streamed down her face as she stood frozen, struggling to process the gravity of the situation.

Driven by raw emotion, Skyler approached Seyren.

With a firm grip on Seyren's collar, she pulled her away from the elderly woman's embrace. Skyler's face was a mixture of anger and desperation as she demanded.

"What the hell happened?"

Seyren, overwhelmed by her own tears, could only shake her head, unable to articulate the events that had transpired.

Her sobs seemed to deepen the silence, adding to the chaos of the moment.

Skyler's frustration boiled over.

"Stop fucking crying and tell me what the fuck happened?!!!" she shouted, her voice echoing in the corridor.

The commotion drew the attention of nearby nurses, who hurried over to intervene.

They gently but firmly separated Skyler from Seyren, their concern evident as they worked to manage the situation.

Seyren, her face flushed with anguish, struggled to form coherent words.

"I'm sorry... I should have followed him immediately... It's my fault. I didn't look for him. I'm so sorry," she stammered, her voice breaking with guilt and despair.

She sank to her knees once more, not only before Skyler but also in front of the crowd of concerned onlookers, her posture one of utter defeat.

"It's my fault," Seyren repeated, her voice barely a whisper as she continued to sob uncontrollably.

Amid the commotion and confusion, the doctor observed from the shadows with a detached curiosity.

They recorded the scene with their phone, capturing the distressing images and sounds before discreetly sending the video and photos to a contact.

Each click of the camera shutter seemed to echo in the tense atmosphere.

Finding a secluded spot behind a wall, the doctor took a deep breath and dialed a number, their hands steady despite the situation.

The phone rang briefly before someone picked up.

"Liam, they're here. The detective is still alive," the doctor reported, their voice a mix of urgency and apprehension.

[Keep an eye on them while I'm waiting to give you the go-ahead] Liam's voice came through the line, calm and authoritative.

The doctor's expression tightened, a hint of irritation creeping into their tone.

"Make sure you get me out of here. If not, you'll be the one facing my wrath" the doctor warned, trying to sound menacing but betraying a flicker of nervousness.

Liam's response was icy, the coolness in his voice sending a chill down the doctor's spine.

[Are you trying to threaten me?]

The doctor gulped, their fear palpable.

"O-of course not," they stuttered, quickly realizing they had overstepped.

"B-bakit naman kita tatakutin, ano namang i-ipangtatakot ko sayo"

[Good, now keep you eyes fucking wide and never let them out of your sight. I'm doing my job so gawin mo rin ang sayo ng maayos.]

"Syempre naman-"

Before the conversation could escalate, Liam cut the call abruptly, leaving the doctor to exhale a shaky breath.

With a heavy sigh, the doctor glanced back at the chaos unfolding outside the emergency room.

The sound of distant sirens and muffled voices filled the air.

The scene was chaotic, with medical personnel and curious onlookers converging around the area.

It was a mess, and the doctor felt an increasing sense of isolation.

Gathering their composure, the doctor walked away with a deliberate calmness, as if attempting to blend in with the everyday activity of the hospital.

Their footsteps echoed in the empty corridor as they made their way out, their mind racing with thoughts of what would come next.

The weight of their dual role as observer and informant bore heavily on them, yet they moved forward with an air of practiced nonchalance, leaving behind the scene of turmoil that had unfolded.

---

"So it was hit and run, nakita mo ba kung anong klase ng kotse ang bumangga sa binata?"

"Hindi po. Nakita ko nalang siya na wala ng malay sa gitna ng daan." Seyren answered honestly, her eyes fixated on the floor as her mind seems empty.

After the police had finished their questioning, Seyren was left to her own thoughts.

The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on her, and she felt a deep sense of fatigue and helplessness.

In a state of dazed reflection, Seyren wandered through the hospital corridors until she found herself at the chapel.

The quiet sanctuary offered a stark contrast to the chaos she had just been part of.

Entering the chapel, she was greeted by the serene ambiance-soft light filtering through stained glass windows, the hushed echoes of her footsteps, and the faint scent of candles and incense.

Without hesitation, she moved toward the altar, her mind consumed by a whirlwind of emotions.

She knelt on the cool, polished floor, her knees pressing into the worn carpet beneath.

Her hands clasped tightly together, knuckles whitening from the pressure.

In the stillness, Seyren's eyes closed as she took a deep breath.

She whispered her prayers, voice trembled, barely audible over the quiet hum of the chapel.

The flickering candlelight cast gentle shadows around her, creating an atmosphere of quiet solace.

The minutes stretched into what felt like hours as she remained in that position, lost in her prayers.

The chapel's tranquility provided a temporary refuge from the storm outside.

Finally, feeling a renewed sense of resolve, Seyren rose from her kneeling position.

She took one last, lingering look at the altar before turning to leave, her steps more deliberate and steady.
