âI wanted to avenge my mother, thatâs why I left the family, but Iâm back now....â
Ever since she crossed over into the other world, Bai Yan never thought she would be able to get the chance for revenge on the ones who hurt her family here on Earth. To be able to have this opportunity was a blessing.
âYou two are both very stubborn. I donât know if its my older sister who passed it on to you, but leaving without a word is improper, you understand? Yi Yi too, sheâs just as a stubborn. I wanted to help her, but because she was afraid of dragging me down, that child would repeatedly refuse my help and money....â
Big Sis have always been the strongheaded one in the family. Father told her from the very beginning that Wen Shan wasnât a good man, not someone she could entrust her life to, but she insisted and married him anyways. In the end that coward didnât even dare go collect her body after that event, what use is there for such a selfish man?
âBut...â Bai Ran shifts her hand onto her nieceâs shoulder so their gaze would meet, âdonât go thinking about revenge anymore, the backing those two clans have are not someone like you can handle. If you persist then you will only throw your life away. I donât want my older sisterâs only blood to be lost as well.â
Although this city was very big due to it being the capital of this nation, thereâs only a limited number of places for individuals of high standing to visit. Therefore, itâs not uncommon for Bai Ran to run into her enemies from the two clans.
It hurts for sure, seeing the ones who murdered her sister and parents, but without strength, this woman knew its futile. A pebble trying to make a wave inside a lake, thatâs the predicament Bai Ran has found herself in. Whatâs more, she also has to think about her husbandâs side of the family. The Ling House may be one of the founding members of this nation, but the military wouldnât really move just because of a whim of one lady. There are many cogs inside this machinery, and those opposing her father-in-law â General Ling â would undoubtedly take the opportunity to poke and prod at him.
âDonât worry Auntie, I have my own arrangements.â Bai Yan saw the urgency in her auntâs eye and didnât want to worry her. Sheâs here to take revenge regardless of what others say, however, that doesnât mean they needed to know her plans.
âAhumph!â Ling Lang finally came out of his depressed state after the initial shock, âMom, you donât have to keep nagging her, letâs first head inside and settle in. Me and Cousin here still have something to talk about.â
Making a helpless smile at her sonâs behavior as she shook that head, âWhat are you two going to discuss that your own mom canât hear?â
âOh, Bai Yanâs son is missing, Iâm going to be helping her look for him.â
An audible shattering of glass could be heard echoing in the madamâs ear. Her mind literally exploded then and became a blank slate.
Yan Yan, she.... Married? And has a son?
âYan Yan, you... married? How old is the child?â Bai Ran couldnât hold back her inner woes and asked.
âHeâs eight years old.â
Eight.... Eight years old?
Ling Langâs mouth twitched at the number.
He knows Bai Yan has a son, but not eight years old!
âCousin, if I remember correctly... Youâre only twenty-two this year right? Donât tell me you had a baby when you were fourteen? Youâre saying during the past ten years where you were missing, youâve been having a baby? You know getting married that young and having a child is illegal!â
Pricking her brow at this dunce of a cousin, âDo you have opinion about it?â
Going by that look and expression, Ling Lang would immediately recall back to the powerful actions of this woman stopping a car with her bare hands. Shivering slightly, he promptly shook his head with those hands doing the same: âOf course not Cousin, of course not.â
âIf you donât then help me find my son first.â
Giggling at that silliness, Bai Yan didnât want to keep teasing the poor guy anymore and turned back to her aunt: âAuntie, you donât have to worry about me, I have my own plans already. Anyways, I want you to take care of Yi Yi in my place though, sheâs still at the hotel weâre staying at right now.â
âOh, uhh yes, of course.â Bai Ran almost didnât react in time and fumbled her reply. Sheâs still lost in the idea of her niece carrying a baby at fourteen years old, thatâs too much for her heart.
This child, she mustâve suffered a lot after leaving home. Big Sis always protected her well, there must be a lot of pain involved that I donât know of....
