Moved to tears by this point, Fire Plume was filled with gratitude based on the face he was making. âQueen, the great mercy you showed me today will never be forgotten.â
If Her Highness didnât forgive me then the king will never keep me around. If thatâs the case, the only outcome would be banishment from the Demon Realmâ¦.
âThis matter is not yours or Second Elderâs fault to begin with. If they can blind me to the truth then what right do I have to blame you two?â Smiling on the face, Bai Yan comments bitterly: âBesides, the loyalty you showed me isnât going unnoticed. Just keep being true to Di Cang in the future as youâve always been.â
Coming down to take a seat on the stone stool now, it was Second Elder who spoke next: âQueen, you forgiving us is your openheartedness, but I wonât forgive myself. From now here onforward, I will use my loyalty to prove my worth.â
Sighing at their persistence: âHere, these two pills are for your knees. Take it and quickly heal up so you can go back down the mountain. Suzaku doesnât like being disturbed.â
After her saying that, Bai Yan then tosses the two pills over and returned to her resting spot inside the bamboo cabin. But unlike her mistress though, the phoenix woman didnât go inside, she merely continues to stand there staring down at the two men like sheâs seeing some filthy peasant.
Wham!
From out of the blue, she actually kicks them both in the shin after seeing they had ingested the medicine.
âLady Suzaku~â Gasping over the wincing pain, Second Elder pathetically looks at the lady in an unsure manner of what to do.
âWhen something like that happened back then, why did you not come find me first?â Gnashing her teeth, she snaps at them both.
Squirming at the interrogation, the senior somehow became smaller in terms of size: âItâs the kingâ¦. No wait, itâs the imposter, he wouldnât let me tell anyone including First Elder and you Lady Suzaku. He said he didnât want the news landing in the queenâs ear.â
âStupid!â Seething at this point upon hearing that ridiculous answer, âIf Her Highness didnât forgive you then it wouldnât be just a kick! Since your wounds are healed now scram, I donât want to see your faces!â
Thatâs no different from amnesty for the pair. Scrambling to get off their butts, Second Elder and Fire Plume practically fled like a ferocious predator was behind their back. In a blink of an eye and plenty of dust cloud in their wake, the two was gone and without a trace.
Going back inside once theyâre out of sight, Suzaku had already shed away the stern and heavy air she had, leaving only a smudge of grievance on that face. âQueen, I only wanted to give them a lesson for their stupid behavior, you wouldnât blame me would you?â
Turning her head with a chuckle: âYou are only just angry, are you better now that itâs vented?â
Suzaku immediately nodded, and her eyes became cautious: âQueen, are you going to stay for good now that youâre back?ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Raising a smile, Bai Yan frankly answers her: âUnfortunately, I need to leave the Demon Realm for another trip. Donât worry, I will be back soon.â
Though sheâs still not happy that her mistress was leaving for another time, but it still warms her heart that itâs a brief one and that Bai Yan would return. From the initial frown, the phoenix was now blooming a genuine smile.
âQueen, I canât leave the Demon Mountain now, but when you bring Black Turtle back then I can finally leave this placeâ¦.â
As I did a thousand years ago, I will accompany you to the battlefield!
Seemingly recalling back to their time together, Suzakuâs gaze showed yearning and hope for the glorious days they shared.
