Naina was running low on money. Despite her efforts, she hadnât found a stable job yet. She was managing two part-time jobsâone was an online job that barely paid enough, and the other was at a small coffee shop owned by an elderly lady who had hired her out of sympathy. It wasnât enough, but she was doing her best.
Today was especially busy at the coffee shop. As Naina was taking orders, she spotted James, Rivaan and Anamay's friend from a business party. He looked at her, visibly shocked to see her working there. She ignored his gaze and maintained her composure.
âSir, what would you like to order?â she asked, keeping her voice steady.
âWhat are you doing here, Naina? Rivaan is looking for you,â James said, his tone filled with confusion.
Hearing Rivaanâs name made Naina stop for a moment, but she quickly composed herself. She pretended not to understand what James was talking about, brushing off his words.
Realizing she didnât want to talk about it, James sighed and gave her his order. Naina left to prepare it, avoiding any more interaction.
The day dragged on, and Naina was exhausted. The coffee shop had been packed, leaving her no time to even eat lunch. She noticed that James was still sitting at one of the tables, watching her. As the shop neared closing time, Naina decided to approach him and let him know it was time to leave.
But before she could speak, she suddenly felt dizzy. Her vision blurred, and the next thing she knew, everything went black. She fainted, but before hitting the ground, James caught her in his arms, panic rising within him as she didnât wake up.
âWake up, Naina⦠come on, wake up!â James shook her gently, but she didnât respond.
In a hurry, he picked her up and carried her to his car, driving straight to the hospital, praying she would be okay.
