There was silence in the happy atmosphere of the wedding only for a few hours. Everyone was praying in their minds to ensure the safety of Jay and Aryan. Shruti was repeatedly looking towards the entrance and was expecting the presence of her brother and husband.
So many guests left the venue due to several reasons she was least interested to know. All she cared about was Jay and Aryan.
Pakhi was sitting beside her all the time and giving her company.
" What time is it?"
Shruti asked and Pakhi checked the time on her mobile phone.
" 1 PM,di."
" Did bhai pick up the call?"
Pakhi shook her head negatively. Sigh left her mouth and she controlled herself from muttering a cuss word. It's not like she doesn't know they are safe. Officer Adnan has left a message to Dravid that the mission is accomplished but she hates the fact that Aryan and Jaydev- both did not try to give them a call and reassure them.
" Do you think your brother changed his mind and doesn't want to marry me now?"
Shruti asked mindlessly. Pakhi couldn't help but to chuckle, " it's not like that, di. I am sure they'll be here soon-"
Just as Pakhi completed her sentence, loud sounds of music, drum and saxophone echoed near their house. Pakhi and Shruti shared a confused look before standing up when a servant came running.
" B..Baraat aa gayi!"
( Baarat is here!)
Everyone rose from their seats. Shruti's heart skipped a beat and a wide smile spread on Pakhi's lips. Slowly, the sounds got louder. Everyone moved outside the house to welcome the baarat and know what stunt both the men had pulled.
" Let's go, di."
Pakhi said excitedly and Shruti nodded and both fastened their pace to the entrance of the house. Shruti stood at the doorsteps while Pakhi made her way out. Shruti tip-toed and tried looking through the crowd. All the relatives have surrounded the whole area.
Her eyes landed on her brother, beating drums crazily. Pakhi covered her mouth for a moment and chuckled seeing her husband beating drums with all the energy he had. His forehead is sweaty but he is not thinking to stop. She lifted her gaze and found her brother sitting on the mare, in his groom attire. Even Aryan has changed into kurta and pyjamas.
As a baarati, Jaydev's team has come along and dancing wholeheartedly. Aryan removed the drum and eventually pulled Dravid, Rajdeep, Ekta, Rohini and Janki for a dance.
Pakhi looked behind and found Shruti trying to have a look. She quickly made a way for her and pulled her to the front. Shruti had the same reaction as her.
Jaydev jumped down from the mare and danced along with his officers, best friend and whole family. Aryan came and grabbed Pakhi's hand. She shook her head but he did not hear a word and dragged her for a dance.
Shruti felt overwhelmed seeing the wedding procession and recalled Jaydev's promise.
" Ye to Kam hai jab tumhare yahan baarat leke aaunga, tab dekhna. Duniya ko pata lag jayega Mai aaya hun apni dulhan lekar jaane."
( This is not enough. Once I bring baarat at your home then the world will witness how I take my bride back to home with me.)
He literally fulfilled his promise. These two changed the atmosphere in a moment and the unhappy wedding was filled with light again. She chuckled witnessing Aryan teasing Pakhi as she danced and earned a slap on his back from Rajdeep. Pakhi ended up laughing and teasing him instead.
At Jaydev's instruction, the sound slowly died out and he faced elders. His grandmother, Janki pulled him into a hug and pecked his forehead. She has tears in her eyes.
" I would have had a heart attack today."
Jaydev wiped her tears, " Where will you go now, leaving this world, Nani? You still have to play with our children."
Everyone laughed and Jaydev touched her feet then others one by one. A servant came with aarti ki thaali with which Ekta performed his aarti. She put tilak on his forehead and showered flowers on him.
He touched her feet and she blessed him. Everyone turned to Shruti whose eyes stayed fixated on Jaydev.
He smiled softly and made his way to her. As he reduced the distance with the speed of his steps, Shruti felt tears in her eyes. But as soon as she remembered that this man did not call even once to make any assurance, her soft eyes filled with tears of anger.
Jaydev blinked his eyes, standing before her. None of them said anything but he could sense she was both angry and emotional right now.
So, he did what clicked into his brain first.
Pakhi stumbled a little when her husband leaned half of his weight on her by wrapping his arm around her shoulder. She shook her head in disbelief and turned her attention back to her brother and sister-in-law.
Jaydev raised his hands up to his face and grabbed his earlobes in an apologetic manner causing his officers to squeal in excitement. He tightly blinked his eyes once, gesturing to her that he's sorry for being late.
A soft chuckle left Shruti's mouth and she instantly melted before wrapping her arms around his torso and hugging him tightly.
Everyone smiled witnessing a beautiful moment. He wrapped his arm around her as well and kissed her head.
" Budhu kahin ke. Tumhe to baad mein bataungi," she threatened him, mumbling against his chest.
( Stupid. I'll deal with you later.)
He knows when she goes from 'aap' to 'tum', it only means he has infuriated her.
Aryan disturbed them by clearing his throat.
" Thodi sharam haya hai ki nahi? Bade budho bache sab hai yahan."
( Aren't you guys ashamed? Elders, old and even children are here.)
Shruti broke the hug and feelings gazes of her family, she couldn't help but to blush. Jaydev passed a boring look to Aryan before grabbing Shruti's hand.
" Let's not delay now."
She smiled and nodded. Everyone moved inside the house to perform the wedding rituals.
.
.
Shruti lowered her gaze when Jaydev brought his hand closer to her head and filled her hairline with sindoor, making her his with every custom and ritual. She lifted her eyelashes and looked into his sparkling eyes. Smiles stayed glued on their lips as the priest announced them as husband and wife.
Jaydev stood up and forwarded his hand to her which she grabbed and stood up as well. They went to the elders and took their blessings one by one.
Ekta pulled her daughter into a hug and kissed her cheek with teary eyes.
" God bless you. Stay happy wherever you go."
Shruti broke the hug and looked at her father, trying to hide his tears while eating sweets. Aryan snatched the bowl from him when he noticed.
" Aryan-"
" It's enough, papa," he scolded him.
Rajdeep scoffed and felt a grip landing on his hand. He turned his gaze to Shruti and recalled the first time she grabbed his hand with her little hands. Today, she's a big and responsible girl. Her responsibilities have increased but for him, she looks exactly as she looked the first time. He hugged her and kissed her head.
After that, they all went to have food which had been arranged for them already on the dining table. Soon, Shruti's vidaai time approached and everyone got emotional. Although she had already been married to Jaydev, the current moment added a different emotion.
In the midst of all, Aryan chose to lighten the atmosphere by his fake cry and out of tune singing.
" Babul ki duayein leti ja.. ja tujhko sukhi sansaar mile."
Shruti chuckled and wiped her tears then hugged her dramatic brother.
" Bas bas.."
( Enough.)
He patted her back and kissed her head, holding his tears. They broke the hug and Shruti went to her mother. Aryan moved to his best friend or brother-in-law.
Jaydev frowned and expected something emotional from his mouth or maybe a warning but all he got was a pat on his shoulders.
" Agar meri behan tang kare to, hume ek dam mat banana."
( If my sister troubles you, don't let any of us know.)
Jaydev chuckled and shook his head in disbelief. Aryan smiled and looked at Shruti who was taken to a car and eventually the whole Chaudhary family drove away.
One by one everyone went inside the house leaving Pakhi and Aryan alone.
She grabbed his hand and he turned his gaze to her.
" Quit acting, husband."
She said softly and he smiled then immediately hugged her. He snuggled his face into her neck and she felt tears dropping from his eyes on her neck. She wrapped her arms around him as well.

As the night approaches, Shruti finds herself sitting in front of the mirror, still adorned in her bridal attire. The sindoor in her parted hair feels heavier than she expected, and the clinking of her bangles echoes in the quiet room. Her heart races - not just from the weight of the rituals but from the unknown that lies ahead with Jaydev.
Shruti touched her cheeks and felt the warmth against her palm. Her in-laws left no stone unturned in welcoming her. From the morning till the evening, she was busy with the guests but thankfully, Janki let her take a nap in the afternoon.
She turned around and roamed her eyes around the room. She replays the day's events: the vows, the pheras, the hushed giggles of cousins, and the silent exchange of glances with Jaydev --each one a thread weaving their lives together. The room, decorated with soft jasmine garlands and the faint glow of diyas, feels both intimate and overwhelming.
She smooths the edges of her red dupatta, reminding herself that tonight is not just about crossing a threshold, but about building a bond - one night among countless others to come.
Her mind wanders - does Jaydev feel the same hesitation? She is sure, he doesn't. In fact, he has a full night to tease her. Her bangles echoed as she made her way to the bed and sat on the bed.
He'll be here anytime soon. She took a breath of relief and tried calming herself. She stopped her movements as she felt his presence filling the room. The Clicking sound of door locking felt heavy in this silence.
Although she can't look at him, she's sure he is smirking right now. He approached her slowly and patiently. She dared not to look at him when he sat down beside her, keeping his legs down from the bed.
He cleared his throat to grab her attention and lightly brushed his shoulder with her. She smiled shyly and turned her gaze to him only to find him wiggling his eyebrows teasingly at her.
She looked into his eyes for some good seconds and did not even notice his hand resting on her thigh.
" So.."
He uttered while her eyebrows creaked as her eyes landed on a small cut on his cheekbone. She raised her hand and touched it. She totally forgot that he came from a mission. Worry filled in her eyes and she faced him properly. Unintentionally, her hand landed on his left upper arm and he hissed slightly.
" Are you hurt here?"
" No.. it's okay."
He moved her hand down but she shook her head and insisted, " show me."
His eyes glistened with amusement as he asked, " why? Wanna kiss it."
She gave a 'no joke' look to him. He sighed softly and removed his kurta by pulling it above his head. He put it aside, leaving himself in white vest.
Shruti tilted her head slightly, seeing a bandage around his arm.
" Bullet?"
She tenderly touched his bandage and he hummed.
" Is it hurting?"
" Yes, but not here."
She looked into his eyes immediately, " then?"
Corner of his lips curved into a mischievous smirk and he gestured her down with his eyes. She frowned confusedly, " where?"
He clicked his tongue, " wanna touch it?"
She took a few seconds to process his words and gasped when she realised where he was gesturing to. His manhood.
" Shameless!"
She remarked and stood up to walk away but he grabbed her hand and pulled her over his lap. He palmed her cheek tenderly and brushed his lips against her jaw.
" Aaj to besharmi ki sari hade paar hongi."
( Tonight we will cross all the limits of shamelessness.)
Shruti's heart pounded against her ribs, her cheeks burning hotter than the diyas flickering around the room. She tried to push at his chest, but the feel of his warm skin beneath her trembling fingers made her falter.
" Jay.." her voice was barely above a whisper, a mix of protest and longing.
He didn't stop. His thumb gently stroked her jaw, his breath fanning against her neck, " hmm."
His voice was husky, laced with something deeper than desire - a yearning, a need to bridge the unspoken distance between them. "Biwi ho meri. Haq banta hai na?"
( You are my wife. Don't I have right?)
He added. Her lashes fluttered shut for a moment, but she opened them again, meeting his gaze - those dark, teasing eyes now softened by an emotion that made her stomach flip. " Aapko chot lagi hai," she reminded him, her voice uneven, trying to ground herself in his injury rather than the heady closeness between them.
( You are wounded.)
He smiled - a small, secret smile - as his fingers trailed down her arm, sending a shiver through her. His finger tucked against the hem of her sleeves of the blouse.
" So what? Itni bhi nahi lagi ki apni patni ke sath suhagraat na mana saku."
( I am not that hurt that I can't spend the wedding night with my wife.)
Her heart twisted at his words. She shifted slightly in his lap, only for him to tighten his hold, his fingers now resting lightly on her waist. "Jay..." she murmured again, softer this time - less a protest, more a plea for something she couldn't yet name.
He tilted his head, brushing his nose against her, an intimate touch that sent a wave of heat through her.
" What happened?" he murmured, his voice a low rasp, his thumb gently stroking her waist through the sheer fabric of her saree. "Darr lag raha hai?"
( Are you afraid?)
She shook her head slightly.
" Then?"
She let out a soft sight and lowered her gaze, " just..."
" Just?"
His lips grazed her cheek, trailing a featherlight path to the corner of her mouth, not quite kissing-- just a lingering touch meant to unravel her.
Her heart thundered in her chest, " it feels... new," she finally admitted, her voice so quiet.
Jaydev stilled for a moment, then cupped her face tenderly. His usual playful smirk faded, replaced by something deeper - a quiet understanding, " sweetheart.. there's no hurry. We can wait."
Her eyes softened at the gentle promise in his words. She closed her eyes, leaning into his touch, " I trust you."
" You do?" he whispered, his lips finally brushing hers - slow, deliberate, and achingly tender.
The kiss deepened gradually, their unspoken words melting into the touch. His hand moved from her waist to her back, pulling her closer, but never too much, giving her space to breathe, to trust, to surrender.
She smiled in the kiss and circled her hands around his neck, Shifting comfortably on his lap. Her cheeks turned crimson red feeling his bulge poking against her lower body and she curled her toes due to the building sensations inside her body.
His palm roamed on her back until he found the way to his hook. He broke the kiss and tilted his head to look at her blouse from her shoulder.
She couldn't hold her desires and placed her lips on his jaw and slowly grazed it down to his neck, pampering gentle kisses all the way down. Meanwhile, he successfully undoes the hook of her blouse, leaving it loose on her body.
His eyes closed momentarily when she kissed his throat and forced him to arch his head back. And in that moment, the night no longer felt daunting to Shruti. It felt like the start of something raw and real. A promise of forever.
Jaydev slid the blouse off her shoulder, the fabric slipping down her arm, and his lips followed the path it left behind - soft, lingering kisses along her collarbone, down to the curve of her shoulder.
She let out a deep exhale, feeling her core throbbing with desire. He stopped his movement for a moment, wanting to ask her one last time if she's ready but before he could, she said,
" Please don't stop..."
The moment hung heavy between them, their breaths mingling in the charged air. Shruti's bold confession echoed in Jaydev's mind, and something in him shifted. The teasing glimmer in his eyes darkened into something deeper.
