Chapter 13
TESSAâS POV
Days turned into weeks and I found myself immersed in the training from Gabe. Fenrir had completely healed and was now always staying in the house with the children, we hadnât had the chance to iron it out between us but we would come to that
later.
Each morning, Gabe and I would venture into the forest gathering herbs and plants and studying their properties. Gabe was a patient teacher for which I was grateful, his knowledge vast and his skills unparalleled. I tried my best to soak up every bit of information he imparted to show my dedication and passion towards learning the art.
Under his tutelage, I began to learn more about identifying herbs, extracting their essence and concocting remedies for ailments. It wasnât just about the plants â there was a beautiful and magical touch to making remedies that bettered peopleâs
lives.
I felt myself growing more confident in my abilities. I could now identify a wide array of plants by sight and smell, discerning their medicinal properties with ease. I could administer treatments with precision, applying poultices, tinctures, and salves with practiced hands.
Gabe often trusted me with the tasks of visiting Packs in need of his help in stead and it was a total thrill, I grew a tad confident with each successful wolf I treated and I felt worth it.
I was arriving from Lunartale Pack after a successful treatment of a delta in the pack when I saw Fenrir standing out, his arm crossed and there was something in his gaze that made me shiver.
âIs Gabe home?â I asked climbing up the short steps that led to the door of the house.
His eyes never left mine.
âNo, heâs notâ He said.
Gabe was really busy these days, I feared for his health but Gabe enjoyed his job and was always doing it with so much rigour.
âHow are my boys doing?â I asked settling down on the chair outside.
His gaze left mine and he leaned on the door.
âKai bawled for half the day before he calmed down and joined Ty and Sky in making weird noisesâ He said.
I laughed fenrir had played a very important role in their lives over the weeks, he had gone as far as giving them namesâ¦. something I couldnât do.
There was a silence.
âAbout time I got you alone, Tessaâ he said and for some reason it felt weird hearing my name from him.
âWhy, whatâs up?â I said trying not to show my nervousness.
His demeanour didnât change in the bit.
âI want answersâ He said simply.
I felt something click in my head at his words â donât we all want answers?
âI donât have answersâ I said simply.
He looked at me with those piercing hazel eyes.

Chapter 13
Q70%
âWe knew each other for barely an hour, eight years ago and now we meet, you have triplets, youâre out in the wild. For f uck sake, Tessa, you were the betaâs daughter, I want to know how you ended up hereâ He said his voice neutral of all emotions.
I let out a sickening laugh Couldnât we just s ip the past? Da mn it! I didnât want to talk about it.
âFenrir, I donât feel comfortable opening up to youâ¦.â He cut me off
âBu llsh it! Weâre gonna be living together for a while, donât you think you at least owe me answer? Please Tessaâ There was a pleading note in his voice.
The memories came rushing back, the memories I had tried to forget for a long time.
âI got married to Adrian and became the Luna then I found out that he wasâ¦. Impotent then would you imagine what I felt when I found out I was pregnant? The pack went wild and ostracized me, Adrian rejected me and I was kicked out. Wandering about, I was ambushed by Will, the doctor and he tried to kill me but Gabe found me in time and thatâs the story of how I began living hereâ I said.
His face registered no emotion â it was almost like I was speaking to a slab of stone.
âThat was cruelâ He finally spoke up.
I laughed
âStop laughing Tessa, I know youâre hurting within, you donât have to put up a strong facade, I can smell your painâ He said simply.
My heart ski pped a beat in shock and I looked away. The sun was setting fast but Gabe wasnât home yet.
âIâll
go get myself something to eat, Iâm famishedâ I said eager to leave his presence.
As I turned to go, I felt a strong hand clamp how on my shoulder and pull me back to meet Fenrirâs hazel eyes.
âTessa, youâre a strong woman and I admire you. Youâre talented and I just want to tell you to keep up the good work. Eight years ago, an angel saved my life and now Iâve met that angel again, I made a promise to help you so please if you need my help, Iâll be right hereâ He said peering into my eyes.
I cleared my throat and looked down at my feet.
âThank you, Fenrir. Youâve done enough for me and I truly appreciate itâ I muttered.
He let me go immediately and dipped his hands in his pocket.
âCool, go get something to eatâ He urged.
I turned to go once more when I heard rapid footsteps approaching, I knew Fenrir heard it by the flick of his ear and his eyes hurriedly scanning round. Luckily, It was just Gabe.
âFinally, youâre homeâ I said then paused to look over Gabe.
Gabe looked really tired but his eyes held a mixture of two emotions as he smiled at us
fear and hope.
I frowned and walked over to him, he rubbed his hand over his eyes and allowed me to lead him to a chair.
âSomeone seems hyper todayâ Fenrir said smirking.
Gabe broke into a huge grin and smiled at me.
âIâve got big newsâ He said.
I leaned In closer to him in anticipation.
