Hello everyone, welcome to my story!

Before you get reading, I just want to say that this is book TWO of a SEVEN book series. You can still read this without getting confused, but if you want to follow the series, start with book 1 called: You Have Wings?' and at the end of that book, you'll find the name of book 2 (which is this one) etc.

This book is original, and everything you read is intended only to entertain. I hope you enjoy!

(Also, it is based in the U.K. and I am English. Please try your hardest not to correct my 'British' spelling if you're from another country because not everyone spells words the same! A classic example: Colour and Color)

The dawn was quickly approaching as the sun shone brightly in the sky. Birds sang happily as they sat along the snow covered branches. The world outside was starting to wake, getting ready to start a new day.

Oliver Turner was among many of those who were just waking up. He groggily looked around as his alarm screeched through his room. When his eyes found it, he sleepily leant over and pushed it off the bedside table. When that failed to stop the noise, he sighed in defeat.

Slowly, he pulled himself out of bed. He switched his alarm off before yawning. It was half seven, but mornings are not really his thing. He picked his clothes up from the floor and headed towards the bathroom. The air was chilly, making him crave the warmth of a hot shower.

The shower as promised was very comforting. He stood for an extra few minutes, wishing he didn't have to work today.

Oliver works in the Mansion of the Vanderwood family. He is a waiter in the restaurant and helps out in the kitchen when days are quiet. Most people would think of it as an honour to work in a house of such importance. But many people would be a little fearful.

The reason for this is because the Vanderwood's are vampires.

From the birth of humans, vampires have existed too. But they have always had the higher authority. In the dark ages, vampires decided to take full charge. Each family would claim a city and they would run it however they wanted. Even though they have authority, Vampires are fair to humans and value their place in this world. The city has a human council, but nothing will be fully agreed without confirming it with the vampires.

So in this City, the Vanderwood's are in charge.

Once Oliver was changed. he cleaned his teeth and brushed through his hair before making his way downstairs. His house was small but homely. It's just him and his dad. There really isn't need for it to be any bigger.

Oliver's mum broke his dad's heart a few years ago by running off with another guy. To his dad, she was the love of his life so it took a long time for him to get over it.

Oliver doesn't hate his mum for what she did. She simply didn't love his dad anymore. But the way she broke up with him was unacceptable. She didn't have to be so cruel and break his heart. And for that, he will never forgive her.

As he made his way to the kitchen, his dad was already sitting with breakfast set at the table.

"I was worried you missed your alarm for a second there," John chuckled and watched his son take some toast.

"I was tired this morning," He mumbled while peeking through the blinds. It was snowing, hard. He narrowed his eyes at the thought of walking almost a mile in this freezing weather. But really, he doesn't mind snow. It's just the cold he hates.

"I can drop you off if you like?" His dad asked. He would hate having to walk in that too. But driving is not much better.

"No it's okay, I don't want you to be late," Oliver smiled and took a seat.

"Are you sure?" He waved the keys in front of his face.

Oliver sighed.

"Okay fine. Thank you," He chuckled when he dropped the keys off the table. "Did you sleep alright?"

"Oh you know, the usual," He said and stood up. "Come on, let's go or we'll both be late."

They both wore big snow coats with gloves and boots. This is the worst winter they've had in England for years. When they got the snow off the car with a few buckets of warm water, They quickly got in so they could switch on the heating.

"It's minus nine degrees today!" His dad said in shock before reversing out of the driveway.

"It'll be a miracle if we see no crashes today," Oliver mumbled. He then closed his eyes, he really isn't a morning person.

"I know. At least, you don't have to drive in it."

John drove 10 miles an hour down a 30-mile street. It took them almost fifteen minutes to drive a mile as they approached the Vanderwood's mansion.

"Okay son, have a great day and don't get bitten," John Joked and pulled him into a hug.

"Thanks for that," His son chuckled while opening the door. "Love you, drive safe." He watched his dad reverse back onto the road.

"I love you too Ollie, see you at dinner," He beamed before driving towards his own work.

Careful to avoid any ice, Oliver walked up the steps and towards the grand front door. He beeped the worker's bell and waited for one of the servants to open the door. No more than five seconds passed before he was greeted by an old man.

"Ah, young Oliver you're just on time," Charles said and stood aside to let him in.

"Morning," He greeted the man as he took off his coat and changed his shoes.

"It's cold out there today boy, You'll be thankful to work indoors," He chuckled and took Oliver's things to the cloakroom.

Charles was right, the mansion was always nice and warm in the winter.

As Oliver made his way to the kitchen, he always paid attention to the pictures, paintings, vases and furniture that were placed in the hallways. A lot of the possessions were extremely old and of great value. He would never dream of stealing anything or touching anything for that matter.

The mansion itself was very old but it was magnificent, grand and luxurious.

He walked down a few long corridors before approaching the kitchen. He walked in to see the rest of the staff, standing around and waiting for orders.

"Oliver, your shirt," A girl whispered. He realised that if he came in a minute later, he would've been in trouble.

As he tucked his white shirt into his black trousers, the kitchen doors opened and in walked Duke Vanderwood, also known as the Alpha Vampire. Humans could not address him with his first name, he had to be called Alpha. His wife's name is Madison Vanderwood, also addressed as the Alpha. But their son Vinny Vanderwood is called the master. He will only be classed as the Alpha when his father passes away.

The staff stood quietly and waited for the Alpha to speak.

"Good morning everyone. We are a little short of staff due to the weather but I'm sure we can manage," He smiled as female Alpha and the master came into the kitchen. The Master never usually makes an appearance, but there is an event coming up which has most of the girls rather excited. It's mating season, but this one is quite special.

Now that the Master is eighteen, it's time for him to meet his soulmate. They say, when the time comes, fate will bring them together. They don't know how but they do know it's at some point tomorrow.

Oliver watched the Master. He was tall with black hair and deep chocolate eyes. His big build and mysterious presence remained hard for anyone to ignore. He was very handsome, wise and mature. But he was very powerful and exceptionally intimidating. His eyes might be beautiful but they can work up a fierce storm for anyone who dare's to even speak to him.

Oliver silently sighed at the thought of him soon to fall in love with a beautiful female Vampire.

While shaking those thoughts to the back of his mind, he concentrated on what the Alpha was saying.

"Tomorrow, the gathering will start at six thirty. Today, we need to make sure the whole place is spotless. The restaurant will be open until four. The early close will help us prepare the hall for tomorrow. If you have any problems, talk to Desmond. As of today, he is now in charge of all the kitchen and waiter staff. Let's have a productive day," He smiled before walking over to Desmond to discuss further arrangements.

Everyone scurried off to prepare for the opening of the restaurant and to start cleaning. Oliver quickly fastened his top button and picked up his notepad and pen, ready to take orders. He knew exactly what everyone would be talking about and that would be the Master's soulmate. It seemed to be a massive buzz flowing through the city. Everyone was excited to see him find his lover. If Oliver was completely honest, he didn't really care.

Yes, she'd be beautiful, wise and powerful, but she was just another Vampire, falling happily in love.
