Chapter 43: Chapter 43

A Mouth Full of Blood.Words: 9499

After Dinner, the Vanderwood family decided that it was time to relax. It has been almost a week since Vinny discovered his feelings for Oliver, and they all wanted to spend some time together as a new family. Things have moved and developed so quickly, they needed a chance to live in the present. So, agreeing to have some well-deserved time in the Roman baths felt rather rewarding.

Duke and Madison were sitting with their feet in the pool. It was nice for them to unwind and to not think about anything other than enjoying themselves. John was messing around with an inflatable which he found on one of the shelves, as Oliver stood next to the pool. He was waiting for Vinny to put some new towels up on the racks.

This time, they both had shorts on but they didn't have t-shirts. At first, Oliver was trying not to blush at Vinny's toned body, but he didn't know the vampire was doing the same.

After putting their feelings aside, they managed to get used to seeing each other's bare chests, yet it was strange for Oliver to see Vinny in something other than his smart clothing. He has never seen a Vampire wear modern clothing or follow the fashion. It was normal to see them smart all the time.

"You don't have any valuables in your pockets do you?" He heard Vinny's deep voice ask.

"You're going to push me in again aren't you?" Oliver asked while turning around.

"Of course not, why would I do-" Before he finished, he reached out and pushed his soulmate into the pool.

Just like last time, his whole body was submerged under the warm water. It gushed into his ears and nose as the warmth felt soothing against his skin.

He quickly resurfaced and shook the hair out of his eyes.

"You love doing that, I can tell," He chuckled and rested a hand on the side.

"It's quite amusing." Vinny sat on the edge as Oliver pulled himself up so he could sit next to him.

How long can you hold your breath?" He asked.

"I'm not sure, shall we see who can hold it for the longest?"

"Okay," Oliver grinned. Watching Vinny slide smoothly into the pool was strangely satisfying for his affection. He ignored it and entered too.

Taking in big amounts of air, they ducked underwater. Vinny held Oliver's arm as they attempted to sink down and towards the bottom.

Everything was silent. It reminded them of the kiss they shared under here. It was so soothing and tranquil. The slow motions and the beautiful mosaic floor was enough to settle their minds. They watched each other, wondering who was going back up first. But Oliver knew it would be him.

When their feet touched the bottom, the human looked around the big pool until his eyes landed on his favourite sight of all, Vinny. He loved his black hair and how it moved so gently with the motion of the water. His gaze was so soft and peaceful, it was almost like he wasn't even holding his breath.

The reflection of the water and the light bounced off his perfect skin, making him look more striking than what he already was.

Vinny watched his soulmate put a hand over his mouth, finding it hard to hold his breath. He didn't know that Vampires have a big lung capacity and could naturally hold their breaths for longer. When Oliver felt the slight pressure in his ears, his lungs begged for air.

He pushed off the pool floor and headed back to the surface. The vampire stayed underwater. He loved how free and calm his mind felt when he could hear nothing but the tender movement of the liquid.

Oliver waited until he got his breath back. He looked down to see Vinny sitting on the floor, undisturbed.

"Has he got gills or something?" Mumbling to himself, their parents chuckle. He held his breath again before swimming down to his soulmate.

Vinny watched as he settled in front of him and shook his head. Mouthing the word how? he couldn't understand his ability to hold his breath. Smiling, the vampire pushed forwards and wrapped his arms around his soulmate. Their bare chests touched and it completed the passion, circling in their hearts.

Oliver smiled and they floated against the side of the pool. Vinny attempted to lean into him, yet it was hard in the water. He could also see that the human was struggling to hold his breath again, so he quickly kissed him on the nose and pulled him back up to the surface.

"Oliver," John shouted. The boys looked up to see his him, floating around on an inflatable sun lounger. Oliver chuckled and ducked back under the water. Vinny's eyes followed him as he swam towards his dad.

Oliver waited until he was underneath him before swimming up and suddenly pushing his dad off his inflatable chair. He never thought the Vanderwood's would have anything like that just lying around, but it was a pool room.

Madison walked over to her son and sat down on the edge. He pulled himself up and sat next to her.

"Hey," She beamed. "How are you doing after the Desmond situation?"

Vinny did get incredibly angry about it, but rightfully so. He can't just go around kissing people right in front of their soulmates.

"Fine. I was angry for a while but Oliver is good at distracting me," He muttered and watched as John attempted to dunk him under the water.

"Bless him," Having two extra people living in their home has definitely been a positive choice. John is wonderful company and Oliver has a heart of gold.

"He keeps me busy," Vinny sighed. It was true, he never imagined He would swim in a pool, fully clothed. Or build a snowman in the garden. It's very easy for him to act older than what he is, due to him living for a very long time. But Oliver brings out his playful side and he loves it.

"Ever since you two connected your bond, I have seen your mood lift. Maybe not with everyone else, but definitely with Oliver. It's lovely to see you smile," She grinned and gently pinched his cheeks.

Vinny rolled his eyes with amusement and pulled his head back, making Madison chuckle. He then decided to slip back into the pool and slowly make his way over to Oliver. When the Roman baths were first built, Vinny would spend all his spare time in the pool. He loved being in the water.

As Oliver observed his dads attempt to get back on his inflatable, he was completely unaware that his soulmate was stalking him. When Vinny was close enough, he Slowly reached out and grabbed his foot.

Oliver gasped loudly but Vinny pulled him underwater. He turned to see the vampire with an innocent smile on his face. He pushed him away so he could resurface and get some air.

When their heads hit the cool air, Oliver didn't hesitate to splash him.

"You're so annoying," He chuckled while Vinny splashed back. He scoffed as Oliver pulled him closer.

"To you, always."

He was playing in a pool with Vinny Vanderwood, the Alpha and female Alpha. His life has changed so quickly, but the new people and the new adventures he is taking part in are all he could ever ask for.

"Is that a compliment or...?" Oliver trailed off, creating a deep chuckle from his soulmate.

"Of course," Vinny smiled before pushing him underwater.

When Oliver came back up, he shook his hair on purpose, causing the vampire to flinch.

"I'm not convinced."

Vinny wrapped his legs around him so they stopped floating away from each other.

"Well, let me convince you."

Oliver blushed a little while Vinny held onto his shoulders. He thought the blue from the pool, reflecting in Oliver's green eyes, made them look rather magical.

He was aware that their parents were secretly watching. He wasn't used to the attention he gets when they become this close. He finds it a little embarrassing and would rather kiss his soulmate when they are alone. Yes, he didn't care what people thought, but with his parents, it can be a little different.

However, they both felt the rising warmth of affection.

"Don't worry, they'll only make fun of us," Oliver whispered with a grin. Vinny was surprised that he knew what he was thinking about. He loved how they were always on the same page.

"Well, I'm sure I can handle that." He felt Oliver's arms wrap around his waist, pulling their bodies even closer.

Their parents tried to move their attention elsewhere, but seeing the boys so close was still unusual. The Vanderwood's were sure Vinny's soulmate would be a female. They never for one second, thought they would be watching him fall in love with a guy.

It was sweet to see their son accepting who he is and learning how to love someone and to care for them.

Oliver moved his face in close until their noses touched. Vinny's heart sparked and he traced his hands slowly up Oliver's neck, feeling the soft detail of his skin. He kept going until he felt the outline of his jaw with his thumbs. Looking back into Oliver's big eyes, they were filled with desire.

"Get a room," John suddenly shouted and threw a ball next to their heads. It splashed them enough to make them turn away.

Oliver pulled back. He was a little annoyed that his dad ruined the moment, he wanted to kiss his soulmate so badly. Vinny was irritated, he needed that kiss and they got pulled from their little bubble of love.

It was hard for him to be angry at John, he was such a likeable guy. So he reached over and pushed him off his inflatable, knowing it had taken him a while to get back on.

Oliver laughed and threw the ball at his dad's head when he resurfaced. It bounced off his hair like it had hit the ground.

They then turned back to one another, knowing the moment was lost, for now. Vinny bit down on his bottom lip and took his gaze to Oliver's lips.

"We can finish that later."
