Chapter 93: Chapter 93

A Mouth Full of Blood.Words: 10554

Oliver slept on Vinny's shoulder for most of the car journey. They were only in the car for twenty minutes.

"We're here," Jed said as he turned the engine off.

Vinny shook Oliver gently, making him lift his head in confusion.

"Oh we're here" He mumbled before stretching and deliberately putting his arm in Vinny's face.

Vinny just allowed it happen but he could tell that even when Oliver's tired, he is still in a playful mood.

"Oliver please put your layers on," Duke said before opening the car door. The cold hit Oliver like stabbing knives as he reached into the boot and got his coat.

Vinny climbed out of the car and waited for him.

John was finding it really strange that he wasn't feeling the cold in these minus temperatures.

Jed was talking to some bodyguards as Madison glanced over at him.

She has now realised that when they employed him, they didn't get much of a background check and now that they think about it, he did just appear out of the blue when they were looking for bodyguards for Vinny.

"Right, are we all ready?" Duke said as Oliver shut the door behind him.

They were still in the Vanderwood city so any passers by who had noticed them were getting excited.

"Where are we going?" Oliver asked as he yawned and put a hand in Vinny's warm coat pocket.

"Ice skating" Madison smiled as she walked at the other side of Oliver and linked arms with him.

"Are we really?" he chuckled as Vinny also put his hand in his pocket and intertwined their fingers.

"Yes," She smiled. She was also excited, they haven't been ice skating in years.

"I've never been ice skating" Oliver admitted.

"Oh well, I'm sure Vinny can teach you. You'll pick it up in no time" She smiled.

"I think You'll be falling over a lot today," Vinny said whilst glaring at members of the public as they walked through the car park.

"Are you not a good teacher?" Oliver asked as he gently nudged his shoulder.

"No," Vinny said as he gave Oliver a sideways glance and nudged him back.

"It's okay, I'm sure I'll pick it up" He grinned.

They all continued to walk towards the ice rink. Everyone was excited to spend a nice day out and to have fun with each other.

As they approached the doors, members of the public moved out of their way like royalty was in their path.

A lot of them smiled at Oliver and he liked people who were just nice.

It doesn't cost anything to smile.

The staff who worked there stopped and stared, not quite believing who just walked in. Duke ignored them as he walked up to the counter and started speaking to the guy behind it.

Oliver looked out and onto the ice. There were only a few people skating around and he couldn't wait to try it. It was something he has always wanted to do but never got round to doing it.

"Are you warm enough?" Vinny asked. Oliver's hand was still in his pocket.

"Yeah, I'll probably warm up when I'm skating about" He smiled.

"Boys" Madison turned with some ice skates in her hand. "Go get your shoes"

Vinny pulled Oliver over to the counter and exchanged his shoes for some ice skates. Oliver did the same.

When they were both laced up and ready to go, slowly, they headed towards the ice.

"Are your shoes on tight?" Vinny asked as he stepped onto the ice and turned to help him.

"Yep," Oliver said whilst taking his soulmates hand and put one foot out. "Oh god" He didn't know what he was expecting but he thought it was much more slippery than what people make it look.

He then braved putting his other foot out but lost his balance and fell straight over.

John laughed at him as he stepped onto the ice.

"Um... I don't know what you're laughing at" Oliver grinned and grabbed his leg.

John immediately fell over.

Vinny chuckled and picked Oliver back up.

"Hold onto the railing"

Oliver did what he said and attempted to get used to the new surface, underneath his feet.

John got up off the floor and skated in front of his son.

"You'll get the hang of it" He chuckled before ruffling his hair and skating away.

"I feel like I'm going to be unnaturally bad at this"

Vinny took his hand and started pulling him gently around the side of the rink.

"I can't believe you've fallen over already"

"It'll be the first of many" Oliver laughed and concentrated on moving his feet.

Vinny smiled at his concentration face before letting go of his hand.

"I'm going to skate around so you can get used to it by yourself. I'll come back in a minute and pull you away from the side, okay?" he asked before leaning his face close and to the public's delight, giving him a long kiss on the lips.

Oliver's heart performed somersaults as the warmth of his affection filled his chest.

"Okay," He smiled.

Vinny then skated away and left Oliver struggling by the railings. But he was slowly getting the hang of it.

* * * * *

They had only been skating for fifteen minutes and Oliver has already fallen over five times.

In that short amount of time, more public came to watch and there are a few news reporters casually standing around the outside of the rink.

"Wait, I think I can do it on my own" Oliver said. He was now away from the edge and holding onto Vinny's hands, who was being very patient and enjoying watching Oliver fall over.

"Alright," He smiled whilst letting him go.

Oliver slipped but managed to keep his balance.

Vinny then watched as he carefully started skating away from him.

Oliver was chuckling to himself because he knew he looked like a deer on ice.

Surprisingly, he started picking up speed as his blades were starting to glide quite smoothly along the small ice rink.

John was watching as he stood with Duke and Madison. It was nice to see him enjoying himself.

Oliver was feeling quite proud that he got the hang of it but he could see the railing coming up and he wasn't quite sure how to stop.

Vinny watched as he soon realised that he wasn't going to stop.

Oliver tried turning but it was too late and he crashed into the side of the rink and fell over, right in front of a news reporter.

Vinny shook his head and chuckled. He could tell he wasn't hurt but he did make that look quite dramatic.

Oliver gripped the side of the railing and pulled himself up, only to be faced with a big camera that was filming him.

"I'm okay," He said whilst brushing bits of ice off his coat.

A microphone was then shoved in his face.

"Oliver, is this the first time you've been ice skating?" A woman asked.

"Yes," He said whilst leaning casually against the side. This is the first time he has actually talked to a news reporter.

"How're you finding it?"

"Um, quite hard. As you can probably tell" He chuckled.

The woman chuckled too and prepared herself to ask more questions.

"So, how're you settling into this new lifestyle?" She asked.

"It took a while to get used to the changes but uh... good" He smiled.

"That's great to hear," The woman said. "And what about the Master, how is your relationship with him going?"

Just before he answered, he felt someone's chest against his back. He turned to see Vinny, standing right behind him.

"You okay?" He asked as he ignored the news reporter.

"Yes, did you see me fall?" Oliver laughed as Vinny wrapped his arms around his waist.

"I don't think anyone missed that," He said as he cuddled into him.

"Vinny, what do you think of Oliver's skating?" The woman asked whilst holding out the microphone.

He glared at her and Oliver didn't know if he would ignore her or not.

"It's a working progress," He said blankly.

"It's okay, you can say it's terrible" Oliver grinned.

Vinny inspected his soulmate's face.

"It's your first time, you'll get better," He said softly before leaning in and kissing him on the cheek. He then grabbed his hand and pulled him away from the news reporter who looked pleased that they got that on camera.

"Show me a twirl Oliver," Vinny said as he let go of him.

Oliver grinned and attempted one but, of course, he tripped over his own feet and fell over.

Vinny actually laughed at this which was new to the public.

He then tried pulling him up but Oliver fell again and pulled Vinny down with him.

"Sorry," He chuckled as Vinny rolled over and sat next to him. "I can't see myself getting any better at this"

"You're quite clumsy," Vinny said truthfully, but he found that oddly cute about his soulmate.

"Yeah but you're so perfect at everything, so I guess we balance each other out"

Vinny held onto the railing and pulled Oliver up at the same time to stop themselves from falling again.

"I'm not perfect at everything"

"Yes, you are. Tell me one thing you're not good at"

They both stared at each other as Vinny thought longer about that than what he wanted to.

"Being happy"

Oliver nearly choked on air as he laughed.

"I'll accept that"

Vinny bit lightly on his bottom lip and shook his head.

"Oh well fine then, I was only Joking" He mumbled but Oliver knew he was kidding.

"I think everyone here knows that you were not joking"

"Are you trying to say that I'm not a happy person?"

"Vinny, you just said it yourself" Oliver loved it when Vinny's sarcasm showed. "And that's exactly what I'm-" Vinny didn't let him finish as he pushed forwards and connected their lips.

Instant warmth flooded their hearts as Oliver kissed back, just before Vinny pulled away.

He could feel that Oliver wanted to kiss for longer but he was in a playful mood.

"If you want another kiss, you have to successfully make it all the way around the rink without touching the sides and falling over"

Oliver groaned and gripped Vinny's shoulders.

"You know that will never happen" He whined. "please just give me a kiss"

As hard as it was to resist, Vinny really wanted to see Oliver's proud face when he made it around the rink and he knew he could do it.

"Nope," He said before crossing his arms.

"Ugh fine" Oliver said, just as John skated next to him.

"Sorry, I couldn't help but listen. I can hear everything with this weird vampire hearing" He chuckled. "But I'll teach you"

He then took his son's arm and pulled him away.

Vinny watched as Oliver only just stayed on his feet whilst following his dad.

He leant against the side and watched him.

He found it so hard to take his gaze away from his soulmate. Oliver was like a drug that he was strongly addicted to.

He then caught sight of Jed, standing in the distance. His imagination did think that Jed was superhuman or something ridiculous like that. How can he be with them twenty-four hours a day? Doesn't he have a social life and a family?

Doesn't he want to live his own life?

Vinny did want to find out more about the person who would risk his life for him and Oliver. He wanted to know the truth.
