Astridâs POV âWhatâs wrong with her? Is she okay?â Nova asked anxiously after the Pack Doctor performed a thorough check on me.
Nova stayed beside me the whole time that I was hurting. She squeezed my hand and comforted me with worry etched across her face.
If she had the ability to take away half of the pain that I was experiencing, I knew she would have done it.
Iâm so glad that we have gotten to know each other and that we have finally become friends.
The Pack Doctor couldnât meet our eyes as he took a step back. I became anxious knowing that face meant that something was wrong.
âI-Iâve never seen something like this,â the Pack Doctor blurted out with fear in his eyes.
Novaâs brows furrowed. He is the Packâs best doctor, he should know this kind of thing.
âIâve studied all kinds of diseases and medicines, but Iâve never seen anything like this,â the Pack Doctor continued, adding to my fears.
âW-Whatâs wrong with me? I-Is the baby okay?â I stammered.
âThe baby is fine, maâam, but there is something wrong with your wolf. I donât know whatâs causing it, but your wolf is slowly fading away,â the pack doctor answered.
My eyes widened in fear. I remembered Ingridâs last words to me before she suddenly stopped showing herself to me. She said that I might not see her anymore. I never understood what she meant because Ingrid is a part of me. I donât know how sheâs supposed to leave me.
âWhat do you mean?â Nova stepped forward. âWe are werewolves, half wolf and half human. How could someoneâs wolf fade away?â Nova questioned.
âThatâs what I donât understand,â The Pack Doctor replied. âAstrid and her baby are completely fine, but when I checked her wolfâs vitality, I sensed something wrong with her.â
I lowered my head as I digested his words. Since this is my body, I have always known that there is something wrong with my wolf. As my body grew weaker and weaker, I knew that it was caused by my own wolf.
âIs she going to be okay?â Nova asked.
The Pack Doctor pursed his lips. âAstrid and her baby are going to be okay, but if this continues, she might lose her wolf soon.â
My heart skipped a beat when I heard his words. Although, Iâm only an omega which makes my wolf weak. What better would I be against a human if I didnât have a wolf?
âBut there is a cure, right? My wolf can still recover and I wouldnât have to lose her. Is there any medicine that I can take to help my wolf?â I asked him with a desperate look in my eyes.
I canât lose Ingrid. Weâve been together ever since I learned how to shift. I just canât lose her.
The Pack Doctor lowered his head. âThis is the first time Iâve seen something like this. Iâm afraid that I donât have any medicine that I can give you.â
I swallowed hard upon hearing his answer. Whatâs going to happen to me if I lose my wolf? Are we just going to wait until she fades away?
âYou are the best Doctor of our Pack. There must be something we can do,â Nova argued.
âThere is one cure, but it would be difficult to get it,â The Pack Doctor spoke meekly.
âWhat is it?â I demanded.
âThere is a cure called Lunar Elixir. They say that the Lunar Elixir could cure all kinds of wolf inflictions, but itâs very rareââ
âWhere can we find it?â Nova interrupted him.
âThe Shadowfang Pack is the only Pack who knows how to make Luna Elixir. They invented that cure themselvesââ
âHow much is it?â Nova interrupted again.
The Pack Doctorâs eyes widened at her question. âThe Lunar Elixir is not available in the market. As I said, it is very rare. You have to mix different rare herbs just to make the Lunar Elixir. The Shadowfang Pack wonât give the Lunar Elixir just to anyone.â
Nova and I got quiet upon hearing how hard it is to get this Lunar Elixir. Even though I have a cure, it wouldnât make a difference if I couldnât acquire it.
Novaâs brows suddenly furrowed. âThe Shadowfang Pack? I think Iâve heard that somewhere,â she whispered.
âItâs okay,â I muttered. âI will look for the medicine once my baby is born. I will figure everything out so you donât have to worry,â I squeezed her hand after seeing how concerned she was.
Nova gave me a small smile.
I know it would be impossible to get the cure by myself, but Iâm sure Iâm going to find a way. I wonât let anything bad happen to my wolf.
âNova, can I ask you for a favor?â I pleaded.
âWhat is it?â Nova asked, eager to help.
âPlease Donât tell Drystan about this.â Novaâs eyes widened instantly as soon as she heard what I was asking her to do.
âI know you and Drystan are close. I just donât want him to worry and add to his burdens. I can take care of this, he doesnât need to know.â I tried to convince her.
Nova looked at me with an uncomfortable expression on her face. Before she could give me an answer, Drystan suddenly walked in and saw us all together.
