Astridâs POV My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I heard Drystanâs voice from behind us.
Drystan always appears in the most unexpected times. Itâs pure luck that he still had no idea about my sickness until now.
âWhat are you doing here?â I asked Drystan as I clutched my beating heart.
âI just came to check,â Drystan answered. âAre you okay now? How are you feg?â He asked me.
I sighed. âIâm okay, I just get tired easily because of my pregnancy,â I lied using a smooth excuse.
Drystan softly nodded his head. âYou should rest more since youâre pregnant. Always tell us when you need anything,â Drystan tells me.
âIs the party over already?â Nova asked Drystan.
âYes, I told everyone to go home already after we saw the moon,â Drystan replied.
âThank you, Drystan,â I paused. âFor the party.â I donât know how to thank him enough.
Even though the party was too much, I knew I needed it and Drystan must have seen that also.
Iâve been feg so troubled lately. Even though Killian bought our lies and Iâm officially out of his life, Iâm still thinking a lot about him lately and non-existent worries still bother me.
Every time that I was alone I couldnât stop myself from thinking of him as much as I hated to admit it.
The surprise party that he held for me was a great distraction. It helped me ease all of my worries and it was a perfect reminder to show me that I donât have to fear anything anymore.
âYouâre safe with us, Astrid. Me, Nova, and the Pack will always protect you and provide for you.
You do not have to worry about anything,â Drystan reminded me.
I smiled at his words. I know that, but it was always easy to forget that.
My heart ached a little when I remembered one person who cared about me just like Drystan and Nova.
I opened the small drawer on my nightstand and pulled out the bracelet that my grandmother had given me as a gift. This bracelet is the only memory that I have of her.
I wish my grandmother was still alive. She would be happy to see me having new friends. She would have loved Nova too just like the others and she would be so happy to see me find a new place where I feel that I bg.
More particularly, I wish she had her chance to meet her great-grandchild. I was supposed to tell her that I was pregnant before she died, but because of Killian, I wasnât able to share that great news with her before she left.
âWhere did you get that bracelet?â Drystan asked me with a surprised look on his face.
I smiled as I looked at the bracelet. âMy grandmother gave it to me as a gift when I was little,â I answered him.
Drystan is silent for a moment. He couldnât take his eyes off the bracelet.
I didnât find it unusual to see the surprise in Drystanâs face when he found out that I owned such a valuable object. When my grandmother first gave it to me, I didnât know that the bracelet had a high monetary value in it.
As an omega who isnât used to expensive things. I do not have the eye that can tell luxurious objects apart.
I only found out that my bracelet was special when Killianâs mother accused me of stealing it and wanted to take it from me.
Killianâs mother is a materialistic woman. She even has her own collection of designer bags, designer shoes, and designer clothes.
Killian had always pampered her mother with luxurious things, but he never once bought me anything basic.
He couldnât even defend me from his mother who is always forcing me to divorce him so he could find another Luna.
âIs it okay if I take a look at the bracelet?â Drystan asked me respectfully.
I smiled and handed him the bracelet, âOf course.â
Drystan took the bracelet from me as if it would break upon his touch. I chuckled slightly when I saw how careful he was in holding it.
I watched Drystan as he looked at the bracelet with curiosity in his eyes. âIs there something wrong?â I asked him when I noticed how he was intently looking at it.
Drystan shook his head immediately, surprised by my question. âNothing,â he answered. âIs it okay if I borrow your bracelet?â Drystan asks me respectfully.
Nova suddenly laughed. âI didnât know you had a thing for bracelets.â
Drystan glared at her making me laugh with Nova.
âItâs fine if you borrow it, but this is my grandmotherâs gift for me. If something happens to itââ
âI know,â Drystan spoke before I could finish my sentence. âI just need to check on something. Iâll return it to you as soon as possible.â
âWhy are you so curious about the bracelet?â Nova asks him, making me look at Drystan, expecting his answer.
Drystan is silent for a moment, his eyes never leaving the bracelet. âI just,â he paused. âI just wanted to confirm something,â Drystan answered Nova straight to her eyes.
âOkay, I will let you borrow my bracelet,â I told him. âJust tell me what you find out after that, okay?â
Letting Drystan borrow my bracelet is not a big deal when I could even trust him with my own life.
âWhat do you want to know about it?â Drystan suddenly asked me, making me speechless.
âI thought you had something you want to confirm. Just tell me after youâre done,â I answered him.
One of the reasons why Iâm letting him borrow my bracelet is because Iâm also curious if the bracelet is really indeed valuable.
Itâs just an expandable metal bracelet with some artisanâs design on it. Itâs not even made of silver.
How could it hold so much value? Even the gem on it that Killianâs mother considered precious seemed to be fake to me.
âDonât worry, Iâll let you know if I made some discovery,â Drystan promised me.
