Giselleâs POV My lips curled downwards and I lowered my gaze to evoke pity from Killianâs mother. Her brows bent downwards instantly when she saw the sad look on my face.
She took a step forward, closing the distance between us. âCome on, tell me,â she whispered to me kindly.
I forced a small smile on my face as I looked at her. âIâm just happy that you accepted me wholeheartedly,â I paused and blinked my eyes, letting the sadness sink in. âKillian had only seen me as a carrier of his baby. I wasnât even sure that you would like me,â I spoke pitifully.
âThis is nonsense,â Killianâs mother exclaimed. âYou are the mother of my grandson, of course, I will accept you.â
I fell quiet at her words. Grandson? How could she be so sure that I was carrying a boy and not a girl?
âYou donât have to worry about Killian. I will talk to him, okay? From now on if you have any problems just tell me. Thinking of problems is not good for the baby,â Killianâs mother smiled as she crouched down to speak to my baby.
âYou little warrior are going to be our Packâs Alpha someday. Donât give your mother any trouble, okay?â Killianâs mother suddenly talked in a baby voice making me feel weirded out.
I forced a smile on my face when she suddenly glanced at me.
âJust understand my son for now, okay? she spoke to me with brows drawn together. âEven though they were in a loveless marriage, they are still mate. You need to give Killianâs wolf some time to recover.â
I slowly nodded my head at her words. âIâm just confused and a little worried. Killian keeps telling me that Astrid is still alive even though sheâs obviously dead, and time flies so fast. Soon I would be in labor and before you even know it my son would be old enough to ask me questions. What am I supposed to tell him if he asks me why his parents are not married?â I voiced out to her, hoping that she would understand.
Killianâs mother sighed before giving me her full attention. âThat is exactly why I called you out here, Giselle.â
My eyes widened at her words.
âWe need to talk about your ascension and plan for you and your childâs future.â Killianâs mother added making me speechless.
I didnât know what to say when I heard her words. I couldnât believe that she was thinking the same thing as me.
âI-I,â I cleared my throat when I stammered a little. âAscension? Does that mean I get to be the Luna?â I asked her in disbelief as if becoming a Luna was never my ambition.
âOf course, thereâs no one else out there who deserves to be a Luna better than you,â she answered confidently.
âIsnât this too soon?â I questioned her once again.
Victoria laughed at my question. âToo soon? If I could, I would make you the Packâs Luna right now.
Ever since Astrid had left, Killianâs workload doubled. He had to do his duties as the Alpha and cover up for the Luna duties,â she sighed. âI feel bad for my son. He needs a Luna that can help him as soon as possible.â
She is right. Iâve also noticed how Killian has gotten busy ever since Astrid left. I wanted to help him, but Iâm not even an official member of their Pack so Killian couldnât trust me with confidential information.
âRight now, Iâm the only one who could see your potential as a Luna. You need to prove yourself to the Pack members first so that they would fully accept you as a Luna. Once they finally like you, even Killian will be pushed to have you as his bride,â Killianâs mother explained.
âHow? How will I do that?â I asked her eagerly.
Victoria smiled at my question. âDonât worry dear, you will have my back. I will support you until you become the Packâs Luna. You just need to take care of my grandson and raise him properly,â she replied then turned her back on me.
I swallowed hard as my gaze slowly dropped on my belly. Itâs the only reason why I get to stay in the Silvermoon Pack.
Since Victoria is insisting that my baby is going to be a boy, my child has to be a boy. I know Victoria would turn her back on me if she found out that I was giving birth to a girl.
I donât want to be like Astrid. I donât want to suffer like her, unloved by her own husband and hated by her own mother-in-law. I canât accept living the life that she had.
âStarting tomorrow, I want you to join me in my errands. I will teach you everything that I know and train you to become a Luna. After a week I will call Killian to join us for dinner and I will break this news to him. Is that clear?â Victoriaâs mother asked with her eyes pointed at me.
âYes, mother,â I answered curtly.
âGood, you donât have to worry about anything just do what I say and I will do the rest,â she adds and I nod my head.
With Elder Luna on my side, I know I will have no problems. With the influence that he has on Killian, I wouldnât even have to worry about him.
