The night was still, only the hum of the engines and the occasional rustle of leaves disturbed the eerie silence. It's been over 14 hours since Siyaâs kidnapping.
Raghav, Rudra, and Vasu had spent hours tracking Siyaâs location. The GPS coordinates were clear, but the forest surrounding them was dense and foreboding, and they knew they were running out of time.
Rudraâs grip tightened around the steering wheel as he glanced at Raghav. âWeâre close,â he muttered, his voice steady but with an undercurrent of urgency.
Raghav nodded, his eyes scanning the darkened road ahead. âWe have to hurry. Durjoy wonât wait much longer.â
Vasu, sitting beside Raghav, checked his phone once again. âThe police are on their way. We need to stay on schedule, or theyâll have the advantage.â
Raghavâs mind raced, but his thoughts always returned to Siya. He had promised to protect her, no matter the cost. And now, as they neared the location, the fear that he might lose her forever gnawed at him, tightening his chest.
As they reached a clearing, the headlights from the car illuminated a secluded buildingâan old warehouse of sorts, isolated from the town. Raghavâs heart skipped a beat. This was it.
âWeâre here,â Vasu said, his voice tense. âThe police are almost at the perimeter. We need to act fast.â
Before Raghav could respond, a voice crackled through the radio. It was distorted, but unmistakable.
"Don't move a single inch."
Raghav froze. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up as the sound of footsteps echoed in the distance. Then, through the shadows, Durjoy Singh appeared. He walked out of the warehouse, his expression twisted in dark delight. In one hand, he gripped Siya by the arm, her face pale and strained. On the other hand, he held a gun, pointed directly at her head.
Raghavâs blood ran cold. He felt his breath hitch in his throat, a mix of panic and fury igniting in his chest.
Durjoyâs lips curled into a menacing smile. âWell, well, if it isnât Raghav Desai.â His voice dripped with disdain. âDesaiâs precious son, thinking he could fix everything with a few lies, huh?â
Raghavâs fists clenched. He stepped out of the car. âLet her go, Durjoy. This has nothing to do with Siya.â
Durjoyâs eyes gleamed with malicious satisfaction. âOh, but it does. You see, your father cheated me out of many deals. All this time, Iâve been patient, waiting for my due. And now, Iâve decided Iâll collect my payment. And you, Raghav, will be my compensation.â
Raghavâs voice trembled with barely contained rage. âWhat do you want? Money? Youâll get anything from me. Just leave Siya out of it.â
Durjoy let out a low, mocking laugh. âI want you, Raghav. Itâs been a long time coming. Your father might have tried to play me, but I wonât let him get away with it. And as for your precious Siya⦠well, sheâs just a little bonus for me.â
Raghavâs heart hammered in his chest. He wasnât about to let this man control his fate. His voice was low but firm. âYou think I care about money? You think you can scare me with your threats? I wonât let you harm her. Youâll have to kill me first.â
Vasu and Rudra immediately stepped forward, trying to pull him back. âRaghav, no! Itâs a trap. Heâs trying to provoke you.â
But Raghav shook his head, his eyes blazing with determination. âIf itâs a trap, then let it be. I donât care. I need to save Siya.â
Without another word, the once coward Raghav was now ready to become a warrior. He stepped out in front, his heart racing but his resolve unshaken. He couldnât let this man win. He couldnât let Durjoy take Siya from him.
Durjoyâs smile widened, a sense of victory radiating from him. âI knew youâd be foolish enough to walk right into this. But now, itâs your choice, Raghav. You walk away, or you face the consequences. Either way, your life is over.â
Raghavâs eyes locked onto Siya, who was barely holding herself up, her body trembling in Durjoyâs grasp. The blood oozing out of her wrist made him feel a fountain of lava inside him. He couldnât lose her. Not now, not ever.
âWhat do you want, Durjoy?â Raghav asked, his voice steady despite the fear and anger bubbling inside him. âWhat do you need from me, you asshole?â
Durjoyâs face darkened. âI donât need your money. I need you, dead, Raghav. Your father might have ruined me, but Iâll make sure youâre the one who pays for it.â
Raghavâs eyes narrowed, realization crashing into him like a wave. Durjoy was playing a dangerous game. This wasnât about money. It was about revenge.
âI wonât give you what you want,â Raghav said, stepping forward again, his resolve growing stronger with every step. âBut I will protect her. I will protect Siya with my life if I have to.â
Durjoyâs hand tightened around Siyaâs arm, pulling her closer to him. He raised the gun, pointing it directly at Raghavâs chest. âIâm not asking, Raghav. Youâll make your choice now.â
For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still. Raghav stood tall, refusing to back down, despite the cold barrel of the gun aimed at him. His heart was pounding, but he knew what he had to do. He had to protect the one he loved, tremendously.
Suddenly, Siyaâs voice broke through the tension, weak and filled with fear. âRaghav⦠please donâtâ¦â
Her words cut through him like a blade, and his chest tightened with the weight of her pain. He could feel the love he stored, the bond that had grown between them despite all odds. He wasnât going to let her down. Not Today. Not now.
But without thinking, biting Durjoyâs hand with all the strength she had left, Siya lunged forward. Durjoy hissed in pain, momentarily losing his grip. At that moment, Siya tried to break free, running toward Raghav.
But Durjoyâs rage flared. With a cold sneer, he raised his gun, âWhat a bunch of foolsâ, and fired. The deafening crack of the gunshot echoed through the night.
Two bullets found their mark. One grazed Siyaâs side, and the other struck her in the back of her shoulder. She gasped in pain, her body crumpling as she collapsed into Raghavâs arms.
âSIYA!â Raghav screamed, his voice raw with terror and grief. He caught her, his hands shaking as he tried to stop the bleeding. Blood soaked through his fingers, and panic surged through him.
âStay with me, Siya! Please!â he cried, his voice desperate. âI wonât let you go. I wonât lose you!â
Siyaâs eyes fluttered open, and she smiled weakly, her voice barely a whisper. âRaghav⦠I⦠I⦠I knew youâd come for meâ¦â
Tears welled up in Raghavâs eyes as he kissed her forehead, his heart shattering in his chest. âDonât say that. Youâre going to be okay. Just stay with me, Siya. Stay with meâ¦â
But her breaths grew shallow, her grip on him weakening. He pressed harder on the wounds, but the blood wouldnât stop flowing.
Raghavâs world was crashing down around him. He had promised to protect her, but he hadnât been able to save her from this.
âPlease⦠please donât leave me,â he sobbed, cradling her in his arms, the sound of the police sirens growing louder in the distance.
By the time the police arrived, it was too late to save her. Durjoy had already been apprehended, laughing maniacally as the officers pulled him away.
Rudra rushed toward Raghav, his eyes widening in horror as he saw Siya lying motionless in Raghavâs arms. âNo, no, Siya, pleaseâ¦Gauri would kill you if you died hereâ Rudra whispered, falling to his knees beside them.
Raghav looked up, his face pale and tear-streaked. He was broken, devastated, but the fire in his eyes burned brighter than ever.
âSheâs still breathing,â Rudra shouted, his voice filled with hope. He pressed his fingers to Siyaâs pulse, his eyes meeting Raghavâs. âSheâs still alive. We can still save her.â
Raghavâs heart skipped a beat. He wasnât ready to lose her. Not like this.
âGet the ambulance, now!â he yelled, his voice hoarse. âDonât let her die⦠not now. Not after everything.â
As the police moved in to apprehend Durjoy and take him into custody, Raghavâs eyes never left Siya. She was still fighting, and so was he. He would never give up on her. Not ever.
"Stay with me, Siya. Pleaseâ¦â
Fate played its game. But it's interesting to see who is going to lose or win.
