"Will meet you soon, I gotta go to Di," Siya said, hurrying back to the room. Raghav watched her leave, the faint scent of her perfume lingering as he stood alone in his thoughts.

The phone in his pocket buzzed, snapping him back to reality. The caller ID flashed a name that twisted his gut. Without hesitation, he silenced the call. Not now, I can't deal with this right now. Turning on his heel, he made his way to the venue.

At the entrance, chaos reigned supreme. Relatives bustled about, adjusting their sarees, fixing turbans, and ensuring no detail went unnoticed. Mr. Desai, however, had his focus elsewhere.

"What were you doing in the parking lot, Raghav? Loitering like you've got nowhere to be? Or were you trying to escape your responsibilities again?" Mr. Desai barked.

Raghav clenched his fists, his jaw tightening.

"Can't you lower your voice, at least for today?" Mrs. Desai interjected, her patience wearing thin. She turned to her husband with a look of reproach, then softened as she glanced at Raghav. Her youngest son carried the weight of too many unspoken words, and she worried he would collapse under the burden.

Raghav's gaze flickered between them before he looked away, his chest heavy with emotions he couldn't name.

"Can we go already?" Vasu hissed, breaking the tension. His excitement was palpable as he craned his neck, searching for Urmi among the throng of relatives.

Inside, the celebration was in full swing. Laughter echoed through the grand hall, the scent of fresh marigolds mixing with the aroma of spiced snacks. Gargi stood at the entrance with a plate of sweets, ready to welcome her soon-to-be brother-in-law.

Vasu barely noticed the pleasantries. His eyes lit up when Urmi finally appeared, surrounded by cousins who fussed over her red lehenga.

Urmi smiled shyly, glancing at Vasu, who couldn't hide his adoration. However, Raghav's attention was elsewhere.

Across the room stood Siya, the girl in the golden-cream gown. Her off-shoulder dress hugged her frame elegantly, her loose curls brushing against her collarbone. The dolphin bracelet on her wrist caught the light, its shimmer pulling his focus entirely.

"Oh, the dolphin girl," he murmured to himself, the realization hitting him.

"Why are you staring at her?" a voice interrupted, low and laced with warning.

Raghav turned to see Samar standing beside him, his arms crossed and his glare sharp.

"I wasn't staring her. I was just-"

"I didn't say a name. So, you were staring." Samar's tone was steady, yet threatening. "Listen, buddy, don't even think about it. She's off-limits."

Raghav raised an eyebrow, trying to mask his irritation. "I wasn't planning to, and for the record, I have a girlfriend."

"Good. Keep it that way," Samar replied, turning on his heel and walking away.

Raghav scoffed, shaking his head. What's his problem? He tried to refocus on the party, but his thoughts kept drifting back to Siya and the bracelet.

Urmi and Vasu had noticed the lingering glances exchanged between Raghav and Siya. Never ones to miss an opportunity for mischief, they concocted a plan.

"Raaaaaaghav, can you come over here, please?" Urmi called out loudly, her voice dripping with fake innocence.

"Oiiii, Siyaaaa! Look here, right now!" Vasu chimed in, barely able to contain his laughter.

Raghav froze, his cheeks flushing. Siya's reaction wasn't much different as she glared at her sister. Both of them stormed off in opposite directions, hoping to avoid further embarrassment.

"They'll thank us later," Urmi said, laughing as she high-fived Vasu.

At the dessert counter, Raghav finally crossed paths with Siya.

"I'm really sorry about my Di. She can be...enthusiastic," Siya said, her cheeks still pink with embarrassment.

"It's fine," Raghav replied with a small smile. "I should probably apologize for my brother too. He's not usually like this."

The tension eased as they both chuckled, the awkwardness giving way to a rare moment of ease.

"You know," Raghav began, hesitating for a moment, "if you don't mind me asking...that bracelet you were wearing earlier. What's the story behind it?"

Siya's smile faltered, her hand instinctively covering the bracelet. "It's...personal. I'm sorry." Without another word, she turned and walked away.

Raghav stood there, guilt settling in his chest. He hadn't meant to pry, but her reaction only deepened his curiosity. It's special to her. She treasures it. The thought lingered as he made his way back to the party, wondering what secrets lay behind her guarded expression.

"Damn it," he muttered to himself. "I forgot to ask if she was the one by the river that night."

He shook his head, frustrated with himself. Why can't I get my thoughts straight around her?

Unbeknownst to Raghav, his thoughts weren't the only ones in disarray. Siya glanced at the bracelet on her wrist, her mind drifting to memories she had long tried to bury. For both of them, the past seemed to be pulling strings they didn't yet understand.

Raghav may not have all the answers now, but the truth has a way of revealing itself when the time is right. Until then, the stories they carry-hidden in bracelets and strained family ties-will continue to shape their intertwined fates.
