message Meanwhile, Jack looked at the he received, narrowing his eyes slightly.
âJack, whoâs texting you?â
Jack locked his phone.
Andrew raised an eyebrow.âJudging by the profile picture, itâs a girl. Could it be that girl you helped the other day, the one named...Alice, right?â
âYou talk too much.â
âI know youâre hiding something. You were working overtime at the infirmary all last week, then suddenly stopped. Youâve been sulking these days; did you have a falling out with her?â
Jack turned his head, his eyes dangerous.âDonât be curious about my business.â
âWe grew up together! Thereâs nothing I donât know about you. Stop pretending!â
Jack took his phone to the balcony. He looked down at the chat. In her eyes, was the infirmary a secret base? He instinctively smiled, opening her Moments. It was mostly casual shares, very girly. After a while, he suddenly realized he had lingered too long on her profile; it felt a bit out of control.
Jack exited the chat and went back inside.
Alice waited all d bure but received no reply. Was he mad? She didnât dare message him again, deciding to wait until Monday when the exam results came out.
The entire weekend, Alice stayed home studying. Chloe and the brothers didnât come back either; they were staying at the training camp.
âMonday morning.
Alice went downstairs and finally saw Chloe and her brothers. They were laughing and chatting, clearly closer than ever. Alice said nothing, heading straight to the dining room for breakfast. Lukeâs tone dripped with sarcasm:âResults are out today, right?â
Alice nodded.âYes.â
wonât âI told you to join the team. With your grades, you into get any good college anyway. Instead of wasting time studying, you might as well train to be a pro gamer. With the resources the Welch family provides, becoming famous is only a matter of time. Too bad you didnât seize that chance; now Chloe has it.â
Alice remembered the humiliation of being replaced in her past life.
She replied calmly, âI donât care.â
After grabbing breakfast, Alice left the hall.
Seeing Aliceâs indifferent demeanor, Luke was furious:âI canât wait to see her âgreat resultsâ.â Chloe, seeing Alice hadnât agreed to join the team, breathed a sigh of relief. She knew Alice was naturally talented at gaming; if Alice joined, sheâd be out of a spot!
But she still smiled and said, âLuke, donât be angry. Alice is just throwing a tantrum. Once she agrees to join the team, Iâll gladly give her my spot.â

Menu The smile on Chloeâs face faltered; she was deeply resentful. Sheâd been practicing furiously to gain Lukeâs approval, only to find that he still seemed to think Alice was better. She made a silent vow to achieve success in gaming, to crush Lukeâs desire for Alice to join the team. Luke looked worried; the revival match was crucial, and if they lost, there would be no second chances.
Although Chloe was trying hard, her gaming talent just wasnât enough. With only a month left until the revival match, Chloeâs skills were nowhere near sufficient. To beat that kid from the Wilson family, they needed someone with real skill! And Alice was the only one. But he couldnât bring himself to beg her. For years, Alice had revolved around him, timidly trying to please him. He was so used to their sibling dynamic that he couldnât change it overnight. How long was Alice going to throw a tantrum? Did she have to force him to back down?
