Chapter 42 A cloud of white powder erupted into the air.

Garrett was shocked, exclaiming, “Alice! What the hell are you doing?!” Even a rich kid like him, who had seen a lot, had never encountered a woman charging at him with a fire extinguisher! Alice, after extinguishing the candles, said impatiently, “I don’t like you, and I don’t want to see this childish nonsense outside my school.” Her period was about to start, she was already in a bad mood, and now someone had to come up to her.

“Alice, you’re kind of interesting. I actually like you; you’ve got some personality!” Garrett said.

Alice turned and aimed the extinguisher at Garrett, who sputtered in outrage. His entourage scrambled to protect him. Alice tossed the extinguisher to the ground, her demeanor icy.“Don’t mess with me.”

She didn’t want to be bothered by a spoiled rich kid like Garrett right before exams. It would waste valuable study time.

Chloe stepped forward, like a pristine, delicate flower.“Alice, how can you treat Garrett like that? He likes you, and he confessed in front of everyone. Even if you don’t like him, you shouldn’t hurt his feelings like that!”

Alice glared. “Mind your own damn business! Get lost!”

Chloe looked surprised, probably not expecting the usually aloof Alice to lose her temper.

Alice brushed off the extinguisher powder, the smell was unpleasant. Since her conversation with her brother yesterday at the restaurant, she had been holding back her emotions, and it was becoming hard to contain.

As Alice turned to leave, Garrett, feeling humiliated, shouted, “Alice, get back here! Who do you think you are?”

Chloe stood by, watching the drama unfold with a cold smirk. Alice was such a fool for rejecting Garrett; she had no idea what she was getting into. She was in for a rough time after crossing him! She secretly hoped Alice would be affected and fail her college entrance exams. “I dare anyone to touch her!” Luke ran over from across the street, his face dark with anger: Alice froze, remembering Luke’s text from the night before, asking her to meet at the coffee shop across from the school. She’d deleted it and ignored him; she wasn’t planning to go. Yet, here he was.

Luke glared at Garrett.“You little punk, you dare to go after my sister? Did you ask her six brothers for permission?”

Garrett’s expression shifted upon seeing Alice’s family. But being a rich kid from Washington, he looked down on the wealthy families in New York.

Garrett sneered.“But she sprayed me with a fire extinguisher! What about that?”

I saw it clearly! You harassed my sister first, and she used the extinguisher to prevent your candles from starting a fire! It was completely justified!”

Garrett’s face turned red.“Say that again!”

Chloe stepped in,“Luke, it wasn’t entirely Garrett’s fault. Alice could’ve just rejected him. But using a fire extinguisher was a bit much, don’t you think?”

Garrett seized the opportunity.“Exactly! With my popularity, why would I waste my time on someone like Alice with that attitude?”

Luke frowned at Chloe, disliking her words. Alice was being harassed, but Chloe was still trying to give the other guy the benefit of the doubt?

Luke snapped, “I don’t want to waste my time with you, kid. Next time, I’ll talk to your parents!”

Grabbing Alice’s wrist, he said, “Let’s go.”

Alice tried to pull away, but Luke pulled her into the car.

Chloe ran after them.“Luke, are you mad at me? I didn’t want a fight.
