He frowned. “Just because we’re divorced, we can’t meet anymore?”

“We can but not in the middle of the night.”

Neil sneered. “Oh, it’s okay for Chris to visit you at night, but it’s not okay for me?”

“Of course. He’s my friend. If you’re done, please leave.”

Seeing her critical look, his eyes turned cold.

“Silvia, you’ve gone too far!”

She glared at him in return. “I’ve gone too far? You came to my doorstep in the middle of the night. You should be grateful that I haven’t called the police to arrest you!”

Isla grinned and pretended to walk toward the door. “He probably hasn’t left yet. I might still catch a glimpse of him if I open the door now.”

“It was my ex-husband.”

“Neil?”

Isla was stunned, but she frowned and asked, “Wasn’t he having dinner with your sister earlier? Why did he suddenly show up at your doorstep?

Does he want to get back together with you?!”

“What other reason would a guy have for coming to see a woman?”
