Silviaâs eyes twitched with hesitation. She pursed her lips and chose not to bring up the topic of divorce.
After the commotion, neither of them felt like eating, so they returned to the mansion.
Once they entered the living room, Silvia glanced at Neil and asked, âI was thinking of making spaghetti. Do you want some?â
âLet me help you.â
âNo need. Just wait for me.â
Their housekeeper regularly stocked the fridge with fresh ingredients, so Silvia took a few things and headed to the kitchen.
She boiled a pot of water on the stove and added the spaghetti.
While she waited for the spaghetti to cook, she prepared the tomato sauce.
She drained the spaghetti once it was al dente. Then, she plated it and topped it with a generous amount of sauce.
As she brought the plates of spaghetti out of the kitchen, she realized that Neil was nowhere to be found.
She made her way to the study, and just as she reached the door, she overheard his cold voice from inside.
âPut this matter on hold for now, and donât let anyone find out.â
After he hung up, Neil turned around to see Silvia watching him by the door.
âThe spaghettiâs ready. Letâs eat.â
Neil put his phone away and followed Silvia to the dining room.
The two of them sat facing each other, but Silvia ate her spaghetti in silence.
âArenât you going to ask me anything?â
Silvia stopped eating and looked at him. âIf you want me to know, you would tell me without any prompting. If you donât want me to know, it would be pointless to ask.â
âYou can ask me anything, and Iâll tell you what I can.â
Seeing his earnest gaze, she fell silent for a moment before she calmly replied, âLetâs eat first. It wonât taste as good once it gets cold.â
After dinner, Silvia got up, and Neil took her plate. âIâll wash it,â he said.
Silvia did not refuse his offer and headed upstairs to her bedroom.
The next morning, she arrived at her company early. By the time Dulcie came to see her, she had gone through a pile of documents from the previous day.
âSilvia, Iâve scheduled a meeting with Neil for 10 a.m. today.â
âYouâll meet with him instead. Donât agree to the acquisition no matter what Remus Corporation proposes,â Silvia said.
There was a hint of surprise in Dulcieâs eyes. Silvia had intended to meet with Neil, so why the sudden change of plans?
However, she did not ask further questions. She nodded and said, âAlright. I know what to do.â
âIâve signed these documents. Take them with you.â
As Dulcie left, Silvia continued working.
Soon, it was noon, and Dulcie returned just as she prepared to go for lunch.
âSilvia, you wonât believe how much Remus Corporation offered for the acquisition of MY Corporation. If I didnât feel attached to MY Corporation, I wouldâve been tempted to sell the company right away.â
Silvia was taken aback. If it was an offer that even Dulcie found tempting, it had to be generous.
âHow much?â
âOne billion! Can you believe it?â
Silvia frowned at the number. Three hundred million should have been the maximum, so why would Remus Corporation offer three times the market price for MY Corporation?
âDid you ask Neil for the reason?â
Dulcie nodded. âI did, but he refused to tell me.â
