Silvia calmly replied, âI gave him ten percent of Remus Corporationâs shares.â
Neil frowned. âLiam is probably so delighted that heâll dream about it tonight.â
She smiled and said, âIâm sure youâve wondered why Liam wants to transfer Remus Corporationâs assets, right?â
âWhat does that have to do with you giving him shares?â
âHe only has twenty percent of the companyâs shares. Once Madam Remus returns, heâll have no chance of winning the next election for president.
Thatâs because our combined shares make up fifty percent. As long as one of the shareholders votes for you, heâs bound to lose. But now, with my additional ten percent, his chances of winning have increased.
Neilâs eyes widened in disbelief.
âYou think heâll stay in Remus Corporation with this extra ten percent?â
Silvia nodded. âTransferring assets carries certain risks. He should find it tempting to maintain control over Remus Corporation while he makes you submit to him. However, this is merely a gamble.â
They wanted Liam to remain in Remus Corporation.
After all, if he transferred all of the companyâs assets and successfully escaped, it would be challenging to apprehend him again.
Neilâs eyes turned cold as he said, âIâm sure your gamble will pay off.â
Liam had always hated Neil; he believed that Neil had snatched away the position of president from him.
If he could stay in the company, he would definitely do so since it would give him a sense of achievement from keeping Neil under control. Besides, Sean had previously managed the company. Unless it was absolutely necessary, Liam probably would not want to be the one to ruin Remus Corporation.
âAs long as we successfully collect evidence of Liamâs crimes, weâll be able to remove him from his position.â
Neil nodded. âI get it now. Thank you, Silvia.â
The admiration in his eyes was evident. He looked at Silvia as if he was gazing at valuable treasure. Fortunately, he did not miss the chance to be with her. Otherwise, he would have regretted it for the rest of his life.
His fever had gone down, so Silvia planned to return to Elm Bay after lunch.
Neil frowned. âWhen are you moving back in?â
âIt depends on my mood. Even though Iâve forgiven you, that doesnât mean I have to go back to you right away.â
Neilâs gaze darkened, and he fetched his car keys.
âIâll drive you back.â
âNo need. Youâre still sick. I can drive back on my own.â
Once Silvia was back at Elm Bay, she got out of her car. Right then, she saw a minivan parked at the entrance of the mansion next door.
She cocked an eyebrow in surprise. Was Chris back?
While she was still puzzled, the mansion door opened, and Chrisâs agent walked out.
She was a little taken aback when she saw Silvia.
âMiss Pond, have you moved back here?â
Silvia nodded. âYes. Has Chris finished filming?â
Katherineâs expression turned somewhat awkward. âYeah. Itâs a little inconvenient for him to live here at this time, but he doesnât want me to stay and look after him. If you have the time, could you please check on himââ
Before she could finish her sentence, the door suddenly opened again.
âKatherine, you left the script...â
Chris froze when he saw Silvia. It took him a while to force a smile.
âSilvia, itâs been a while.â
She looked at his crutch and the cast on his foot with a frown. âDid you get injured on set?â
His eyes dimmed a little as he nodded. âYes... What brings you here all of a sudden?â
âIâve moved back here. Iâm sure that injury is giving you a lot of discomfort. You should hire a caregiver.â

Given his response, Silvia gave up on persuading him. âIf you need any help, just text me. I still have some things to attend to, so Iâll head inside.â
âOkay.â
Once Silvia entered the mansion, Katherine looked at Chris in frustration and said, âYou got injured trying to save her. You missed several good movies and lost over a dozen job offers as a result. Yet, you refuse to say anything. If you keep this up, you wonât win her heart even if you pursue her for a hundred years!â
