His agent, Katherine Mason, knew that he had a crush on Silvia. âWhy didnât you tell her that you bought the mansion next to hers?â she asked.
Chris shook his head. âIt didnât seem like the right time.â
At least, he had to wait until Silvia settled her mess of a relationship with Neil. It would just bother her if he told her about his feelings before that.
Katherine laughed at him. âIâve never seen anyone else who can keep his love this much of a secret. Keep this up, and youâre going to end up as a monk.â
Chris came from humble beginnings, so she did not support his feelings for Silvia at first.
Later on, he became part of Imperial Cityâs Rios Family, and he had the family protecting him. From then on, she no longer stopped him from pursuing Silvia.
âYou should go back now. Come and pick me up tomorrow morning.â
When he returned to the mansion, Chris turned on the lights. He had the same layout and decor as Silvia did in her mansion. In fact, he even bought the books that Silvia liked. Some of them were no longer in the market, so he hired someone to look for them for a long time.
Even so, he still preferred to stay at her mansion because it had traces of her.
He wanted to be able to express the love in his heart one day.
Chris picked up a book and started reading. The moment he sat down on the couch, he received a call from the Rios Familyâs butler, Mr. Grenning.
âMr. Chris, the masterâs condition has worsened. You should visit him. Heâs been wanting to see you.â
His breathing became somewhat labored, but after a while, he spoke indifferently, âThere are plenty of people around him who care. He doesnât need me to visit him.â
Mr. Grenning felt defeated, and he pleaded with him. âThe master might have hurt you in the past, but he regrets it now. He also wants to hand over the Rios Family to you. Youââ
However, Chris interrupted him with a scowl. âThis has nothing to do with me. I donât care for the Rios Family either. Donât call me anymore!â
He hung up and tightened his grip on the book.
After some time had passed, he shut his eyes to hide the hatred within them.

By the time Silvia returned home, it was already past 10 p.m.
Right after she entered the living room, she saw Neil glaring at her.
âI thought youâd never come back.â
Silvia pretended not to hear him and started to walk up the stairs calmly.
âStop!â
Silvia stopped and looked at him.
âWhat is it?â
âStop meeting up with Chris Rios!â
Silvia sneered. âSorry, thatâs not possible.â
Neil scoffed. âSilvia, do I really have to teach you a lesson to make sure that you listen to me?â
Silvia glared at him. âWhat do you intend to do?â
His gaze was ruthless, and he gave off an imposing aura.
âIâm not going to do anything. Iâm just going to cancel some of his shows and make sure that the ones he shot before wonât air on TV.â
Silviaâs expression finally changed, and she hissed. âYouâre despicable, Neil Remus!â
âYouâre calling me despicable because of some random man?! Iâm your husband!â
Silvia gave him a look of ridicule. âYou got yourself a mistress and allowed her to set me up. Then, you protected her. Yet, you call yourself my husband? You donât even care about me! You even selfishly impose your opinions on me!â
