“Mr. Anderson, I don’t like it when someone pursues me so publicly. I’m grateful that you saved my life, but I won’t fall for you. If you ever need assistance in the future, I’ll be there for you. But I’m truly not interested in you romantically.”

Following a brief silence, Ryan looked at her and asked, “Do you still have feelings for Neil?”

Silvia nodded without hesitation. “Yes, but I don’t want to be with him anymore.”

“I understand. I’ll stop sending you gifts, but I do have a favor to ask.”

“What is it?”

“Be my girlfriend for a month. After that, you won’t owe me a thing for saving you.”

Silvia frowned. She was about to say no, but Ryan continued, “Don’t worry. We’ll just pretend to be a couple. You only have to accompany me back home and have a few meals with my family. Privately, we’ll still interact as friends.”

After some thought, Silvia shook her head. “I can’t agree to this request. If you had asked me before your confession, I might have said yes. Now that I know you have feelings for me, I can’t pretend to be your girlfriend.”

Besides, the Anderson Family might not like the idea of Ryan being with her. It could lead to a lot of problems.

A hint of disappointment flashed in Ryan’s eyes, and he replied with a bitter smile, “You won’t agree to it even though it’s just pretend?”

Silvia did not know what he was planning, and she was not interested in finding out. She said goodbye to Ryan and left in a taxi.

During the ride, the driver glanced in the rearview mirror several times. He smiled and asked, “Young lady, did you and your boyfriend have a little spat?”

Silvia seemed surprised. “No. Why do you ask?”

“A car has been tailing us the entire way.”

Silvia turned and frowned when she saw Neil’s car trailing behind.

“Just ignore it,” she said.

Half an hour later, the taxi stopped in front of Elm Bay. Silvia paid the fare and stepped out.

She noticed that Neil was still following her and instantly felt upset.

Even though she had broken up with him, he continued to intrude into her life. She could not find any peace.

She quickly walked up to his car and knocked on the window. Then, she sternly said, “Neil, what are you up to? Do you realize that you’re behaving like a stalker? I could call the police on you at any time!”
