The next morning, Silvia received a call from Abalene.
âSilvia, Iâve received an invitation from an old friend to spend the weekend at a resort. Do you have any plans? Would you like to join me? I heard thereâs horseback riding and also an amusement park.â
Abalene was not keen on going at first. However, she heard about the activities and thought that it would be a good opportunity for her to blow off some steam with Silvia. She even invited Neil because she thought it might help mend their relationship.
Silvia seemed a little surprised. Realizing that she had nothing planned for the weekend, she agreed to tag along.
âSure, Iâm in. Should I pick you up or meet you at the resort?â
âIâll pick you up at the mansion.â
Silvia hesitated for a few seconds before she spoke up, âMadam Remus, Iâm staying in North City now.â
Abalene furrowed her brows. âYou and Neil are separated?â
Silvia did not know how to explain their relationship to Abalene, so she chose her words carefully. âNot exactly. Itâs just closer to my current workplace, so Iâve decided to stay here.â
âNonsense! How can a married couple live separately? Adaâs back. What if she tries to take advantage of your absence?â
Silvia spoke softly, âMadam Remus, please donât worry about this. Neil and I will work it out ourselves.â
âIf both of you could really work it out yourselves, you wouldnât be separated. Iâm going to call him. If he doesnât bring you back soon, I wonât let him off the hook!â
âMadam Remusââ
Abalene hung up before Silvia could finish her sentence.
When Silvia called her back, she reached her voicemail. It was evident that Abalene was already on the line with Neil.
She sighed helplessly. She later set her phone aside and began to freshen up.
She only noticed that Neil had sent her several messages after she finished getting ready.
[Silvia, what the hell did you say to Grandma about Ada?
[Grandma already has a bad impression of Ada to begin with, and after you told her about moving out, she threatened me. If I donât bring you back to Remus Mansion, sheâll go after Ada!
[What spell did you cast on Grandma to make side with you all the time? I told her it was your decision to move out, but she wouldnât believe me!]
As Silvia read his messages, she could see how he staunchly defended Ada. She deleted the texts with a straight face and headed out to work.
Soon, the weekend arrived. Silvia had packed up early, and she was waiting for Abalene to come over.
However, the vehicle that parked at her entrance turned out to be Neilâs car. She hesitated for a moment but eventually opened the rear passenger door to get in.
âSit in front!â
Silvia glanced at Neil, who was in the driverâs seat, and replied indifferently, âIâll sit in the back, so that I can keep Madam Remus company.â
Abalene was eager to mend their relationship, so she quickly said, âMy old friend will be sitting in the back later. Itâll be cramped with three people back here. Please sit in the front.â
Hearing this, Silvia resigned herself to her fate and reluctantly took the front passenger seat.
If she had known that Neil would join them, she would have turned down Abaleneâs invitation.
As soon as she entered the car, Neil leaned over.
Silvia was startled, and she instinctively moved to the side. In doing so, she hit her forehead against the window with a dull thud.
She furrowed her brows and stared at Neil defensively. âWhat are you doing?â
Neil appeared offended. âIâm helping you with your seatbelt.â
âI can do it myself!â
Seeing that Silvia had fastened her seatbelt on her own, Neil did not say anything else. However, his expression grew colder.
Abalene was filled with concern as she observed them from the back seat. The tension between the two of them seemed substantial.

They sat in silence until they arrived at the resortâs entrance. Right then, Silvia finally realized that Abalene had deceived her about picking up her old friend.
