âFine. If youâre apologizing on your girlfriendâs behalf for offending me, Iâll accept your apology.â
Neilâs eyes turned colder, and he scoffed. âAlright. I wonât bother you two any longer.â
After he left, Dulcie glanced at Silvia and whispered, âSil, you havenât moved on, have you?â
âWhy do you say that?â
âWhen he spoke to you, you seemed a little tense.â
Silvia lowered her gaze and said nothing.
Dulcie sighed. âSil, if you still have feelings for him, maybe you can consider giving him another chance.â
Having witnessed the ups and downs of their relationship, Dulcie knew that Neil held a significant place in Silviaâs heart.
Silvia smiled and changed the subject, âDidnât you say that you wanted to go shopping? Letâs go.â
She seemed somewhat distracted throughout the evening.
After she returned home, she got ready to shower. Just then, she received a call from Ryan.
âSil, did I wake you up?â
Silvia walked out to the balcony with her phone and nonchalantly replied, âNo. Iâm not asleep yet. Whatâs the matter?â
âWell... my grandfather wants to meet you tomorrow. Could you join me for dinner at the Anderson Familyâs mansion tomorrow night?â
It had been two weeks since she pretended to be Ryanâs girlfriend. They had been interacting more frequently, which was not a good thing for both of them.
âLet me think about it, Mr. Anderson.â
âSure. Take your time. Just let me know before noon tomorrow.â
After the call, Silvia returned to her bedroom and took a shower. Then, she did some reading before going to sleep.
In the middle of the night, the sound of rain woke her up.
Remembering that the kitchen window was open downstairs, she got up to check on it.
She approached the window to shut it but suddenly stopped.
Through the rain, she could see a black car in front of the mansionâs entrance.
Even though the lights were off, her intuition told her that it was Neil.
She subconsciously tightened her grip on the window. She took a deep breath and looked away. Then, she closed the window and went back upstairs.
Tossing and turning in bed, she failed to fall asleep.
She got up and went to the window again. When she noticed that the car was still there, she felt irritated.
Neil had gotten himself a new girlfriend, so why was he at her mansion late at night?
Silvia observed the car for a while and drew the curtains in annoyance. She thought that if she could not see it, she could forget about it.
The next morning, she automatically looked out the window after she woke up. Neilâs car was not there anymore.
She drove to her company once she got ready and had breakfast.
As she passed by the guard house, the guard expressed concern, âMiss Pond, your husbandâs been leaving early and returning late. Did you two have an argument?â
Silvia frowned and instinctively asked, âHas he been coming over every day?â
The security guard nodded. âYes. He didnât come back for a few days, but apart from that, he would return around midnight and leave around 6 a.m.â
After a moment of silence, Silvia said, âWeâve broken up. If you see his car, donât let him in.â
The security was stunned for a moment, but he soon appeared serious. âI understand. Iâll ask my colleagues to patrol the area around your mansion every day. Theyâll look out for any suspicious individuals.â
Sensing that the security guard might view Neil as a threat, Silvia smiled and said, âThereâs no need for that. He wonât harm me.â
