Dulcie sighed and gently asked, “Do you still like him?”

Silvia did not say anything, but Dulcie noticed her tightening her grip on the steering wheel. That was her answer.

“If you still like him, I think you can give him another chance. Even though he lied to you about Chris, he only did it because he was afraid of losing you. I think he really loves you.”

Silvia glanced at her and cocked her eyebrow in surprise. “Didn’t you call him a jerk just a few days ago? Why are you changing your stance all of a sudden?”

“I thought he was cheating on you back then. After I did some digging, I found out that he only got together with Jane to make you jealous. Besides, he didn’t do anything with her. He’s such a prideful person that I’m quite surprised to find him giving in to you.”

Silvia smiled and slowly said, “While he’s willing to give in to me, don’t forget that he’s lied to me many times. I need a normal partner now, not a control freak.”

Dulcie laughed. “Do you know how many people want to be treated like that by Neil? Any other woman would be so happy that Neil cares so much about her.”

“Well, I’m not just any other woman, and I won’t tolerate his unreasonable behavior.” Silvia’s expression was calm, and her gaze was resolute.

Dulcie subconsciously looked at her and nodded. “This is what I like about you. The rest of us would more or less choose to compromise, but you’re always firm about your boundaries. You won’t let anyone cross them.”

Silvia shook her head. “That wasn’t always the case. I abandoned my boundaries before and discovered that it only made others look down on me.”

When she returned to the Pond Family, she threw away her pride to fit in with them. However, all she got in return was pain.

She finally understood that she should love herself before she loved others. If she threw away her self-worth for others, they would only think that she was a pushover.

Dulcie did not say anything else, but she felt sorry for her.

She had seen how dedicated Silvia had been to the Pond Family and Neil in the past. She felt that they were not worth her dedication either.

Hopefully, our presence won’t make you uncomfortable tonight.”

“It won’t. We’re happy that you’re here.”

They chatted as they walked into the restaurant. The Design Department had chosen a barbeque place for their gathering. The restaurant was decorated in a western style, and the walls were covered in writings.

The other employees from the Design Department were a bit uptight when they saw Silvia and Dulcie. Apart from Blanche and Rita, the rest rarely had a chance to meet them.

Rita had saved two seats for them. After they sat down, Dulcie continued to smile and say, “We’re just here to eat. Don’t mind us. Everyone should have fun tonight.”

Everyone was a little subdued at first, but they noticed that Silvia and Dulcie were just talking among themselves and not paying attention to them.

After that, they started to become livelier.

Halfway through the meal, Dulcie made an announcement regarding the bonus, which became the highlight of the night.

Silvia smiled when she noticed how happy her employees were.

It was close to midnight when the gathering ended.

If the next day were not a working day, they would have gone for karaoke as well.

When Dulcie saw Rita and Blanche hailing taxis for the employees, she said, “I still remember when Rita first joined the company. She was trembling when she was showing you her design. It’s only been six months, but she’s matured so much.”

“Her family owns a business too, so I’m sure that has helped her. It’s easy for her to pick things up, and she’ll only get better in the future,” Silvia replied happily.
