The elderly ladies were unaware of Neil and Silvia’s marital status, so they appeared puzzled. One of them turned to Abalene and asked, “What’s going on?”

Just as Abalene was about to explain, Neil calmly said, “I’m sorry, but Silvia’s already married, and I’m her husband. My grandmother was just trying to anger me when she asked you to introduce Silvia to a potential partner. I hope you won’t take it seriously.”

Neil’s expression changed slightly. “I won’t let her cause you any harm in the future.”

Silvia burst into laughter, but her eyes still lacked warmth. “Since you’ve chosen to protect her, don’t apologize to me. I won’t let her get away just because you’re regretful.”
