Chapter 17: 16: Lux Callaghan is the Girl for Me

Bad Boys Aren't RomanticWords: 6985

"Why are you so late?" questions Eric as I walk in the diner. He has an alarmed face which could only mean one thing.

"Lux, you're finally here," comments Mr. Peyton, Eric's dad and owner of the diner.

"Uh yes sir," I respond.

"Follow me," he says and walks off to his office. He doesn't come to the diner that often, only on few occasions.

I glance at Eric and he gives me a reassuring smile.

"You'll be fine."

I nod and reluctantly walk toward Mr. Peyton's office. I walk inside and he asks me to sit.

"So Lux you've been working here for what? Eight months?"

"Something like that," I respond nervously.

"Do you know why you're in my office right now?"

"I'm really sorry for being late sir. I know I should have called earlier but I was unable to do so because I was in detention and-"

"Oh, I'm not worried about today's tardiness," he says, "From what I see this is actually your first time being late so don't stress."

"Oh," I say, "then if it's not because of that. Then why am I here?"

"You're employee of the month," he says.

"What?"

"I just called you in so that I can take your picture and frame it on the employee of the month wall."

"Oh, wait, seriously?"

"Yes."

"That's amazing! Thank you so much sir."

"Sure thing," he responds. After he takes my picture and I walk out of his office. At this time the diner has gotten a little busy and from the corner of my eye I catch Nat taking orders. She's finishes writing down the last order and walks back.

"Oh hey," she says. She places the order slip where the chef can see it and walks over to me.

"Everything good," she questions, "Eric told me Mr. Peyton wanted to talk to you."

"Yeah, I thought he was gonna kill me because I was late."

"He didn't?"

"No, he actually wanted to talk to me because I got employee of the month."

"What? No way!"

"I know!"

"That's so cool! Now finally someone beat Sylvia."

Sylvia was another worker here. She's older than Nat and I but still considered one of the young ones, according to Thomas the main cook. She had been getting employee of the month for the past couple of weeks and never failed to boast about it, although I'm not exactly sure why.

"Yeah," I agree.

"So," Nat says as she begins taking some leftover plates from the table in front of us, "Why were you late? I tried calling you."

"Mr. Chavez gave me detention and I they made us put our phones in a box. We didn't get them back until detention was over."

"Why did he give you detention?"

"Ugh because of Aaron Reeves."

Nat lets out a laugh. "Of course it's because of him."

"Who's him? Also congrats on employee of the month Lux," says Eric as he walks over to us.

"You knew?" I question.

"Of course I knew."

"Then why did you make me worry?"

"Because I knew the way you'd react and I thought it would be funny to make you freak out a little."

"Jerk."

"Anyways who's the guy you two are talking about?"

"Well who else," says Nat, "Aaron Reeves."

"Of course," responds Eric.

"Can we not talk about him? I've had enough of him for one day."

"Fine, but only because Nat already told me what happened today."

"Nat!"

Nat lets out a laugh as she walks over to pick up the food for one of her tables.

"Hey it's not like he wasn't going to find out! The Instagram page is getting big around this town," she responds before walking off to give her customers their food.

"Unbelievable," I mutter.

Unfortunately for me the week didn't go by as I would've wished it had. Aaron continued to do ridiculous things as he professed his supposed love to me. In all honesty by Friday I was done with it but somehow everyone else seemed to think it was cute. Why? I had no idea.

It was Monday of the following week and I had prayed all weekend in hopes that Aaron's little charades were done and over with. That was until I stepped foot inside the school.

People surrounded the hallways as posters hung around the walls and lockers caught their attention. From the corner of my eye I can see people taking pictures of it. I make a fist and hold it tightly as I force myself to walk over to the nearest poster and I read what it said.

Ten Reasons Why Lux Callaghan is the Girl for Me

1) She is never afraid of being honest with me

2) She says silly and cute things that make me laugh

3) She has cute nicknames for me and I for her

4) She has the world's greatest smile

5) She's an amazing kisser

6) She's always on time and never disappoints

7) She's always reasonable and easygoing

8) She accepts me for who I am

9) Spending time with her is a bliss

10) She always sends the most loving looks my way

"What a fucking joke," I say and rip the paper off the wall.

"Hey," a girl to my right exclaims, "I was reading that!"

"Don't bother, it's all lies," I mutter as I crumple the paper and throw it in the nearest trash can.

At the end of the hallway I spot Aaron and his friends. They're laughing at the poster on the wall. I walk up to him and flick him on the forehead.

"Fucking shit, Lux," he grumbles.

"Why are you still doing this? I thought it was just gonna be for a week."

"Relax will you? Today isn't that bad, it's cute."

"Cute? It's all lies!"

"Really? How?" he questions mockingly.

I raise my hand up to flick him again but he catches my wrist before I have a chance to do so. I pull away from his hold and glare at him.

"Asshole," I mutter before walking off.

Hello friends! Another update is here!!!

The main reason why my updates have been coming really quick is because earlier this week I finished planning each chapter of this story from beginning to end. And well now that I finally know what's gonna happen in each chapter it's given me an immense boost to write these chapters.

From what it looks like Bad Boys Aren't Romantic will have 36 chapters in total!

I've been doing a lot of thinking and i really want to continue updating weekly. (I'm not sure about daily but possibly every other day.) And the other main reason behind this is because August is coming up soon and I will be undergoing a lot of changes with school and moving cities, so I don't think I will be able to have time to write/update once we reach that point.

My main goal is to finish writing BBAR before August 24 (ergo why I want to update almost every day) because I know that once Aug. 24 comes I will not being to update for a while.

As of right now my updating schedule is going good but I don't actually know if I will be able to keep it up, so fingers crossed I do.

Lastly, and again, thank you all for the support you give this book. In all honestly I did not think a lot of people would read this & actually I didn't think I would have come this far with this book. I mainly began writing this as a joke and for fun but as time went on and the with the love it has been getting, I've become quite close with this story. So thank you. I love you. And I hope you have a wonderful day!!

Oh!!! Also I have a question. Would you guys want me to do a double update today or would you guys rather wait until tomorrow (or monday) for the next chapter?
