x Chapter 0112 Chapter 0112 +25 BONUS The sound of Alexanderâs voice spurred David into action, but he wasnât fast enough. With two loud bangs, the door burst open.
Alexander strode in, a look of anger on his face. His eyes fixed on me immediately and i saw the expression freeze as he took in the scene.
David was standing between me and Alexander with a stunned look on his face. Clearly, he was as surprised by Alexanderâs sudden appearance as I was.
With sudden force, he surged forward, throwing a punch that landed with a sharp crack against Davidâs jaw. Davidâs head snapped to the side, and his hand shot up to his face, staggering back several feet.
David cursed under his breath and squared up to fight, but despite everything, I found myself smiling. I knew Alexander wouldnât let him get away with this.
âKeep your filthy hands off of her!â Alexander ordered.
The outrage in his voice was unmistakable, and despite the terror of the situation, a thrill surged through me. I knew, deep down, that Alexander would protect me. He would never allow David to hurt meânot while he was around.
David muttered a string of curses, a sure sign that he knew how much trouble he was in. Alexanderâs eyes looked past David, fixing on mine.
I found myself unable to focus on anything else. The rest of the room seemed to fall away as I was staring up at Alexander, his expression a mix of concern and fury.
âAre you all right?â he asked softly, his voice filled with worry.
Before I could answer, a blur of motion flashed through my vision. Davidâs fist collided with Alexanderâs jaw. I cried out in shock as Alexander staggered backward but, incredibly, he didnât fall.
âYouâre going to pay for that,â Alexander growled, his voice dangerously low, eyes locked on David.
I leaned heavily on my weak arms and pushed myself away from the edge of the bedI felt both impossibly light- headed and unbearably heavy all at once, but even through the fog clouding my mind, I recognized something unsettlingâthe same dangerous edge Iâd seen in Alexander the other night, when he had frightened Lily in the restaurant.
There was a simmering fury lurking beneath Alexanderâs calm exterior, something I had only caught glimpses of in the past. Now, it seemed like he was going to unleash it on David.
I wanted to tell him to calm down, to let the guards handle it. The last thing I wanted was a scene in the middle of the capital or for any negative rumors about Alexander to spread. But given the situation, I knew there was nothing I could say to stop what was coming.
The raw rage in Davidâs eyes made it clear this wasnât going to end without a fight.
âI donât know who you think you are,â David growled, his voice low and menacing, âbut this is my girl, and Iâm not letting you leave here with her.â
âYou have no right to talk about Ella like that,â Alexander replied, his tone iceâcold. âAnd Iâm going to show you what happens to people who disrespect my woman.â
âWho the hell do you think you are?â David said angrily.
âElla, are you hurt?â Alexander asked, not taking his eyes off David.
âSomethingâs wrong,â I said weakly, my head spinning and my body feeling like lead. âI can hardly move.â
1/3 Chapter 0112 +25 BONUS A sharp, bitter sound escaped Alexander as he took a step closer to David. âYouâve drugged her, then.â
âYou canât prove anything,â David replied with a smug grin âDonât be so cocky,â Alexander shot back, his voice low and dangerous. âYour little plan isnât as foolproof as you thought. You mightâve drugged my guard too, but he had the sense to call me before he lost consciousness. Now youâve got me to deal with, and Iâd bet that wasnât part of your plan.â
âI donât need a plan to deal with you,â David sneered. âYouâre not nearly as great as you think you are.â
âWhy donât we find out?â Alexander said, cracking his knuckles. In a blink, he rushed forward. His fist connected with Davidâs stomach, the impact forcing David to double over, gasping for air.
Despite having the wind knocked out of him, David wasnât down for long. He quickly stood up straight and lunged forward, tackling Alexander and sending them both tumbling to the ground.
I wanted to look away, but I couldnât tear my eyes from the scene. I had to know what was happening, my mind racing for a solutionâsomething, anything, that could stop this before someone got seriously hurt. But nothing came to me.
And then, I became distracted by something about Alexander. There was a change in him, something different in the way he moved. We had spent a lot of time together, and I had come to know him well, but this side of him had only surfaced once beforeâat the restaurant when he proposed.
There was a palpable aura of danger around him now, something I couldnât quite explain.
Alexander was back on his feet within seconds. He grabbed David by the hair and yanked him forward, then brought his knee up, connecting with Davidâs chin. Davidâs head snapped back, and he stumbled, clutching his jaw in pain.
âYouâre never going to put your hands on Ella again,â Alexander growled, his voice thick with restrained rage. The intensity in his tone caught me off guard, sending a shiver down my spine.
âWhy are you meddling in my affairs in the first place?â David demanded as he got to his feet before rushing forward and throwing a sloppy punch at Alexander. Alexander easily dodged it, his expression calm and cold.
âIâm not meddling in anything,â Alexander replied icily. âYou had your chance with Ella, and you threw it away. Sheâs a beautiful, intelligent woman from a respectable family. You couldnât possibly have thought she would stay single for long.â
âI donât know what game the two of you are playing,â David spat, his voice shaking with fury. âBut Iâm not going to let you get away with it!â
He swung wildly again, but this time, Alexander caught him by the wrist, pulling him off balance. In one smooth motion, Alexander swept Davidâs feet out from under him, sending him crashing hard onto the ground.
âYouâre not very good at this,â Alexander said, his voice completely devoid of amusement or teasing, as if he were -merely stating a fact.
âFreak,â David muttered, struggling to his feet.
âMaybe,â Alexander replied, a hint of disdain in his tone. âBut at least Iâm not a pathetic excuse for a man who cheats on a woman and then behaves like a petulant child when she leaves.â
Alexanderâs words struck me deeply. The betrayal I had experienced because of David and Amanda was intense, and it was comforting to hear Alexander call David out for his disrespect.
It felt as if he understood my pain better than mostâwhether from his own past or simply his empathetic nature, 2/3 Chapter 0112 I didnât know, but it soothed me.
âWhat would you know about it?â David growled.
+25 BONUS âAll I know,â Alexander replied coolly, âis that Ella is my fiancée now, and you will not come near her again.â
âDo you think you can stop me?â David demanded.
âI know I can,â Alexander shot back. âThe only question is whether Iâm going to have to make it permanent or if youâll learn your lesson.â
