Chapter 0193 Chapter 0193 Ella POV Alexander smirked slightly. âYouâve been trying so hard these past few months to present yourself as a mature, grownâup woman. Itâs nice to see that childlike excitement on your face again.â
âIâm not being childish,â I said defensively, crossing my arms.
âI didnât say you were,â Alexander replied, his voice calm. Thereâs a difference between childlike and childish. You donât need to be so defensive with meâIâm not judging you.â
His words eased the tension, though I could still feel the faint heat of embarrassment on my cheeks. I managed a small smile, realizing he wasnât criticizing me. He was just noticing me, in a way no one else had.
âWonderful,â Christopher said, clapping his hands together and flashing a grin at Alexander. âIn that case, I insist the two of you visit me this weekend. Iâll give you a private tour, and we can start planning the layout for the ceremony and reception.â
Alexander looked at him in surprise, his expression quickly shifting to irritation. âDo you know how busy we are right now?â
âYes,â Christopher replied smoothly, âand Iâm sure you donât expect me to arrange everything on my own. After all, it is your wedding.â
Alexander rubbed his temples and sighed softly. âFine. Weâll be there Saturday morning.â
I could barely contain my excitement at the idea of a private tour of the Castle, and it must have shown on my face. Alexanderâs annoyance was puzzling, but I didnât dwell on it for long.
Christopher stood, offering his hand to me, and I shook it automatically. âI look forward to seeing you again,â he said, his charming smile firmly in place. He turned to Alexander. âAnd donât be a stranger, Alexander.â
âTry not to be so smug,â Alexander replied, raising an eyebrow.
âIâm simply in a good mood,â Christopher said with a slight shrug. âI suppose one of us has to be.â
âWeâll talk soon,â Alexander replied.
âHave a wonderful evening, Miss Rowan,â Christopher said, giving me a parting smile before turning and leaving the room.
I looked at Alexander, still puzzled by the exchange. âWhat was all that about?â
Alexander sighed heavily and closed the notebook heâd been writing in. âChristopher and I have known each other for a very long time,â he explained. âIn that time, heâs gotten very good at pushing my buttons.â
âYouâre friends, arenât you?â I asked, tilting my head curiously.
âYes,â Alexander replied after a brief pause. âOr at least, we used to be. Itâs nothing you need to worry about. Heâs just been teasing me all afternoon, and I guess itâs gotten to me.â
Icould tell there was more to the story, but I didnât want to pry. It wasnât my place, and I appreciated how much Alexander had already done to make things work.
âThis is the perfect solution to our problem,â I said, trying to shift the mood. âAnd youâre rightâpeople will want to come to the wedding just to see the Castle. Davidâs ittle stunt is going to backfire.â
âThatâs my hope,â Alexander said, his tone softening. âBut it seems youâre genuinely excited about this, which is Chapter 0193 an unexpected bonus.â
âShouldnât I be?â I asked, feeling a little selfâconscious under his gaze.
âOf course you should,â he replied. âI hoped this would cheer you up.â
bit the inside of my cheek, trying to rein in my emotions. Alexander was right, of courseâmy excitement was obvious, and there was no reason I should feel embarrassed by it. This truly was an incredible turn of events.
âSeeing you excited lifts my mood,â Alexander said, his voice softening. âItâs nice, considering how hard weâve both been working to make all of this happen.â
âThat reminds me,â I said, the thought suddenly striking me. âHave you made any decisions about your outfit for the wedding?â
