Chapter 0056 Chapter 0056 Ella POV I was shoved hard against the brick wall of the alleyway. My head hit the hard bricks, and my vision went white for a moment from the pain. I tried to push the man away, but he was much larger than me.
My heart raced with fear as I struggled to pull my arms free from his grip. When I couldnât, I attempted to knee him in the groin, but he was standing too close. He pressed himself up against me, and a shiver of disgust ran through me at the contact.
âGet away from me!â I yelled.
The man laughed and leaned in, bringing his face close to mine. âStruggling is only going to get you hurt, princess, âhe said in a rough voice. âJust cooperate, and Iâll let you go.â
âWhat do you want?â I demanded, glaring at him defiantly.
The man smirked at me. âLetâs start with a kiss,â he said.
×× Panic overtook me, and I screamed, but he put his hand over my mouth to muffle the sound. âWhat did I just tell you about struggling?â he asked.
My mind was racing, searching for a solution to get me out of this, but I could find none. No one knew exactly where I was right now.
Thad foolishly insisted that I no longer needed a guard. I thought that now that David and Amanda had been exposed, the danger for me had passed. But it seemed that was wrong, and now I was trapped here, unable to free myself.
The man was clearly much stronger than me, but that wouldnât stop me from fighting back. Whatever he wanted from me, he wasnât going to get it without a fight.
The man held my wrists and moved forward. I turned my head away and pulled my arms as hard as I could, but his grip was like steel.
Then, suddenly, the man was yanked backward. He cried out in surprise and anger, whirling around to see who was interfering with his plans. When his grip on me loosened, I yanked my arms free and scrambled away toward the mouth of the alley.
I didnât look back until I was on the sidewalk, and when I did, I gasped in shockâthe person who had come to my rescue was David.
David and the man who had attacked me were grappling in the alleyway. The man landed a strong punch against David, causing him to stumble backward. I hesitated, uncertain about whether I should help him or not.
I couldnât understand how he was here right now, but the man was actually hitting David. I could see blood trickling from his nose.
I began to scream for help. It took a few moments for my cries to gain any attention, but soon people were rushing toward the alleyway to see what was happening.
âGuards!â I cried out. âSomeone, bring the city guard!â
At those words, my attacker suddenly stopped fighting with David and turned to flee down the other end of the alley. David didnât pursue him; instead, he turned and hurried toward me.
âElla, are you hurt?â he asked with concern. âPlease tell me I stopped him in time.â
Chapter 56 +25 BONUS âIâm not hurt,â I answered. âWhat is going on? Who was that man, and what are you doing here?â
âIâm so glad I stopped him before he got his filthy rogue hands on you.â
David reached to hug me and I stood still as he did. I didnât know what to do. My heart was thundering from the fear that I was still experiencing.
David pulled away from the hug and looked at me with concern. âElla, are you okay?â
âDavid, I donât understand whatâs happening,â I said.
I could hear people around us shouting. The guards had been summoned and were pursuing the man. I knew that they would need to question me, so as much as I wanted to get somewhere safe, I couldnât leave yet.
My head was spinning as I tried to figure out what to do. I needed to call my father and tell him what had happened, but I didnât want to do that until I actually had answers for him.
I doubted very much that the guards would catch the man; he had gotten a head start, and he seemed very strong. David was the only person I could turn to for an explanation he seemed to have at least some idea of what had happened.
âWhatâs going on?!â I heard my father shout from nearby. Iturned towards the sound of his voice and ran to him. He wrapped me in a tight hug and held onto me protectively âElla was attacked by a rogue,â David explained. âIâm only glad that I got to her in time.â
âIâm glad too,â my father said reluctantly. âBut how did you know this would happen?â
I looked up at my father in surprise. It hadnât occurred to the that David must have known beforehand this was coming. I must have been in shock âAmanda is the one who hired him,â David answered, a pained expression on his face. âI donât know why she would do something as foolish as this. I donât even know how she got in contact with a rogue.â
âHow did you find out about it?â my father asked.
âShe told me,â David said. âI donât think she meant to, but she was hysterical. She showed up at my house, demanding to talk to me and wouldnât leave. I went to her just to tell her to go away, that I no longer wished to see her. Thatâs when she said what she had done.â
âWhat was she trying to gain? I donât understand,â I said.
âThe man was meant to...â David hesitated and looked away from me. âKiss you,â he said. âHe had a camera set up to capture images so that it would look like the two of you were in a romantic relationship. She planned to leak the images to damage your reputation the way that hers was damaged.â
Of course, she would be angry with me and likely jealous that David was continuing to pursue me. But I never could have imagined she would go to these lengths.
I should have, though. I should have known that the woman who was capable of poisoning me was capable of anything. Any little shreds of sympathy I had left for Amanda were gone now.
âIf thatâs true, sheâs going to answer for what sheâs done,â my father said angrily.
A strange look crossed Davidâs face, but he nodded in understanding âI understand alpha,â he said seriously. âWe have to do everything we can to protect Ella.â
âWhat do you mean we?â I demanded. âThis changes nothing between us.â
1 chapter cate David stared at me in shock. âWhat do you mean this changes nothing? I saved you!â
âAmanda wouldnât be attacking me if it werenât for you!â I shouted.
âWhy you-â
David started to approach me, but my father stepped in front of him.
